I love your ideas of recording videos and voice notes to practice speaking and how you dissect youtube videos! I gotta get better at finding youtubers in my target languages. You are inspiring me to get back to my languages that I'm not as focused on right now, but I don't want to let them slack. It's so easy to just default to my main focuses (Japanese around B2 and Mongolian A1 right now), and life gets in the way, so then my other languages start getting rusty. Trying to get more into the online polyglot and linguistic communities to feel more motivated, and I saw you on twitter so I subscribed! I hope your goals are coming along smoothly so far!
I am honored that you think these strategies are worth stealing hahah 🤩 I just saw your video on you learning 5 languages though! Wishing luck with them ✨ (will be waiting for another Duolingo speedrun)
@@myuniyt yeah I saw your speaking Korean video and was like there’s something your doing that’s just working ✨ But yeah hopefully I can do another one of those, although not sure of which language to do it in yet lol
I could DEF be doing with Korean but we got this! And honestly, just watching you go through it was entertaining! Whatever language you choose, I’m watching 🤩
You go girl! I really ❤ your positive attitude! There's so many haters on RUclips that insist it's "impossible" to learn more than one language at a time, or that it's a "waste of time" to go for any less than C2 in a language - so I found your video very refreshing. The only limits we have are those we put on ourselves. If we want to enjoy exploring many languages out of curiosity, or just get to conversational levels so we can travel, that is a perfectly legitimate goal. I think a lot of them put too much emphasis on the "end result" rather than the enjoyment of the learning process (maybe because they don't enjoy it because they are getting bored sticking to only one language....) When I tried to limit my languages I found myself in an endless cycle of decision paralysis on what language to "stick to" and making no progress in anything. Since dropping those limitations I'm making good progress in multiple languages! Your plan is ambitious and that is what makes it exciting and I wish you all the best in your language journey this year!
Thanks girl 🤩 I’ve heard of this topic that learning multiple languages at a time is impossible, or hindering learning of languages or whatever but honest, just like you, when I started to explore learning multiple languages at once and not forcing myself on an end result goal, I found myself having so much more fun with the process and that’s what I like most about language learning! The process of learning and being able to suddenly understand things I didn’t know a week ago. I’m glad you found this video refreshing and thank you for your comment! I am also wishing you luck on your language learning for this year and can’t wait to hear an update from you 🫶🏾
Good luck with your learning! I start my year in December, because of my birthday. This year I am focused on Thai and Taiwanese, but I also want to bring my French and Spanish back up to C1-2 level. Want to take Chinese from B1 to B2 and recently I feel a little tempted to do JLPT 1 for Japanese, so I might go for that in December. My Korean is always a mess, but I do not know if I have the energy to fix that right now.
Omg, I am wishing you all good luck with your studies for this year! You’re learning so many cool languages 🤩 I also feel you on not having the energy to fix your Korean rn 🥲
Hi, it was so inspirational to hear your language goals :) For 2023 my main goal is to reach a B1 level in Spanish and Thai, and then I will start to learn a new language - Shanghainese and maybe go back to my Indonesian😊
♥I hope you reach all your goals!!! I'm currently learning Korean,(started three days ago) German (5 months) and I've been learning Irish for 3 years. Currently Korean has been the easiest language I've learnt - UP TO THIS POINT (☠) Irish is a shit show but thank the LAWD a lot of the older people in my area speak it😭, and German is ok (my step-dad is a basic speaker). The only reason I've been able to progress at all in the time I've had (I manage to speak simple sentences in Korean and I can have full convos in German) is thankfully because I have almost 5-6 hours free each day to do language work - as I am online schooled and am only 14 so I have nothing else to do but hw. Plus all my feed is language based and shows are all in my target languages so that helps too.. One thing I know I'm lacking in/going to lack in is conversational work with native Germans and native Koreans as I don't fully have the confidence to go on online chats with natives because of my age and I live in the middle of the countryside in Ireland so I MEET NO ONE WITH THE SAME INTERESTS. Do you have any advice for me about chatting with natives or improving convo skills when I physically can't chat with natives ?? ;-;
Hi! I loved reading about your goals 🤩 I am wishing you all the success with your 3 (and maybe more) languages! It's so cool that you are learning them, especially Irish. I don't think I've ever met anyone who is learning it or who can even speak it. And it's awesome you have some time to study languages on top of school work! As for tips, honestly, I don think I'm the best person to ask since I also have this nervousness surrounding speaking to natives of the languages I am learning. As for chatting, though, I know for Korean, if you use kakaotalk, you can find open chat rooms with people who have similar interests and are of similar age! As with everything you do on the internet, just be careful and smart about it. You can also use apps like hellotalk to find people closer to your age to text with and when you feel comfortable, even chat with! There are also apps like Hiolokal where you can join speaking rooms with those speaking your TLs, and if you're not comfy speaking yet, just listen and interact with chat before you jump in and speak with them. Discord also has language groups with people all around the world who can chat with you in your TLs, and you can do groups and one on ones of course. Just be careful with who you chat, stay safe, and have fun! Another thing you can do to improve your convo/speaking skills is to talk to yourself, record yourself speaking (take a topic you like and record yourself speaking about it for some time), or even pretend to have conversations with a celeb you may like in your TL with insta lives posted on youtube or weverse if you're into kpop! One last one I can give you is to learn the scripts for shows or even videos you watch in your TLs. It may be fun and you'll learn so much doing it. Anyway, this was long but I hope it helps a bit! :)
@@myuniyt OML Thank you!! I never really thought of using kakaotalk or discord (god in some ways I miss 2020 chats on discord) !! Thank you, really it means a lot 🥰
I love how many languages you plan on learning; it makes me not feel so bad especially since your schedule is also super busy! 😂 But i didn´t know you were starting Arabic this year!! I was thinking 2024 if you wanted to be arabuddies. Buddics, no I like arabuddies better 😊
Someone needs to take this video away from me. Please... I can't stop. Also, when you get your notion down to how you like do you think you could post a notion tour?
Hi Myuni! I noticed that your goals are a bit vague... Between B1 and B2 there is a big gap. Is there a reason behind that - for example, do you want to keep it chill and lose? Also it must be hard having French and Spanish at the same level, since they are a lot alike. How do you deal with that?
Hi Max! You’re right, the goals I’ve made for myself are a bit vague this year. That’s because I want to keep more chill/ not force anything. I know that if I put my mind to it, I could maybe make the jump and improve so much! I just have no idea how just yet. It’s difficult having them at such a similar level/ place but honestly, it’s as if when I study one of them, it helps build the other one as well. We’re almost 6 months into the year and there’s still so much I am trying to figure out and learn but I’m making it work. If you have any tips for me, please do let me know! I’d love to hear what you think
i would LOVE to take an Italki lesson for each of my languages monthly, it would be about 40 dollars, give or take, depending on the teacher, and that´s not too much for language learning but it is so hard to spend that money haha. I´ll probably start with a Swedish class or something and progress eventually to all of them
I totally understand not wanting to spend money 🥲 so far, my language learning journey has been free and I love knowing that i can do it all on my own. But maybe those italki lessons would benefit us ~
Welcome back. I will love to be more serious with French and improve my speaking in Korean
Thank you! And good luck ✨
