Exactly what I need to do, I sure wish builders would seal the raw bare wood edges of the new door jam frames before installing so this repair would be unnecessary. Thanks for the great tutorial! Now I gotta do some shopping.
Great video! Problem I have run into is ordering this kit!!! Went to the web site and could not figure out how to order it. Call and left a message no response!! Got online with the company, just got the run around!!! Very disappointing!!!! I think this is a great product but need a better process in selling it!!!!!
Been trying to buy these replacement pieces but everytime I look it says no stock. Wondering if the still make and sell it or if there is an alternate supplier.
Lowe's sells a kit that's 8" tall--jamb piece and door stop. It's $79 for 2 x 4 constructed walls. My door frame and door stop is rotted just about the same with the brick molding rotted up about 5-6 inches too. Mine is a exterior garage door with window and blinds inside the window. A new 36" door that's exactly the same is over $600 last time I checked. Ridiculous.........
Good video. The question is ... how much would you charge for doing that job? .... There are people who think that you are going to charge $ 50 dlls .. and it is not like that for that job I would charge a minimum of $ 180 dlls. or what do you think
Cause we didn’t need to see that part lol if you did you should watch a complete video on door installation and trim that will help but when looking for specifically what you need for jamb replacement this is a jamb up video 😂
I couldn't wait to check out the comments because people can be mean. Since no one even has constructive remarks I feel obliged to add a note. -A new frame cuts this work in half and looks much better -In the event where this is a weird or historic door frame, you would make the frame on a table saw with waterproof or water resistant board that will never rot again. -When cutting any trim that will get rain, you cut it at a 45 deg, so the rain will not attack the joint. -composite & aluminum threshold is a must -Silicone the ground under the threshold, water will run under the door when you spray off the patio. Nevermind all of this if you are looking for job security, put this customer in your calendar for another jamb rot fix. This wasn't the first time, the wood that you cut out had your prior repair.
@@amylee9 Ha you got me, making an instructional video does trump a carpenter who has written it in words, pff words don't compare to video, to heck with logic.
No sill pan? That silicone under the threshold will fail in a couple years. You'll have water damage. Never install an exterior door without a sill pan.
If I was the owner, I would be furious if I saw that oversized threshold! I'm no expert but it sure looks like that install will eventually result in that interior floor rotting or getting water damaged because of that overhang in the threshold piece.
I am a better weekend warrior with this tutorial. Thanks!

I am somewhat of a new homeowner; I'm always learning new things. You are a good worker👍
Man you couldn’t have done a better/ cleaner video. Thank you!
If you put the screws behind where the weatherstripping goes, you do not have to patch the holes because the weatherstripping would hide those.
I was waiting to see the final results after painting.
Excellent! Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed to do and you made the job much easier.
What would you do with the rotting frame wood there?
My brick mold is rotted as well
What about the rotted wood on the side?
Was thinking the same thing. Address the rotted framing structure as well. Sill pan wasn’t installed either.
That's certainly a different way of doing it. Seems like more work than other methods.
Right .....I was thinking the same thing.

what is the name of that thing you applied to patch the holes?

Great video
Thanks dude 👍
Good video. Prefer non-silicone for paint adhesion including the touch up over the putty.
Great video!!!
How long did this take you from start to finish?
What is Wes Borland doing here reparing doors?
Great. Wife will be shocked when it is done.
yeah a final look would have been nice
Awsome! Thank you
Thx!
Why nobody upload videos doing jamb repair on Bkock walls
I love the part where you show the finished project.
Man what kind of boots are those?
Do I have to do it on the other side?
You'll wanna repeat this on the other side...

why don't you install a sill pan when replacing the rotted jam and sill? I believe that a sill pan is required by code.

$250
Now... $450 biden dollars. I'm sure it'll go up even more soon.
probably $400 or so with pvc materials
@@NigelM18 Aw, show us on the doll where the bad president hurt you.
If you put the names of your tools, it would be more helpful.
Criss cross applesauce. This guy
Didn’t even show us the finished repair.
Just repeat on the other side and you’ll be fine.

lost me when I seen the lead pencil...
Do you have your own video showing how to do it? Easy to speak up from the chair.
