Came also out for: --- Game description: Army Men: World War is a top-down squad strategy/action game. You fight against the tan army in World War-based environments.
I have both the PS1 and PC version. Definitely better on PC and a solid concept. The 90s had a lot of experimentation with game development, even amongst mainstream developers. I miss the mid 90s up to the mid 00s era of gaming.
@@foojam2002 2007 - wasn't that the year the iPhone was released? I know Facebook was definitely growing at a very fast rate at the time and Flash games were pretty popular. Gaming definitely became a more casual and mainstream activity around that time. There's a lot of money to be made in mobile gaming and broadening the audience for a game also increases the audience size. The problem is that more serious gamers - ones looking for an authentic roleplaying experience, a complex RTS or sim, or whatever the genre of choice is -- end up being left behind. I remember playing Asheron's Call back in 1999. At the time, I wondered how great massively multiplayer games would be. I pictured realistic graphics, complex systems, etc. We have the graphics nowadays but game design has moved towards ultra-simplicity. I played an MMO a few months ago where I fell asleep on the keyboard while playing because it was that boring. I leveled up twice because my hand continued to hold down the "1" key just enough to keep triggering attacks on the respawning enemies. If I fell asleep in UO, AC, SWG, or any other old school MMO of note, I would wake up and be corpse hunting.
@@AunCollective I think that was the year, yes. It's exactly as you state, the companies started taking seriously the casual gamer and we who supported them all that time, were left behind like suckers. Noob gaming as i call this simplified gameplay nowadays, is making them big money and it's the only thing they care, the greedy suits. But sales were great with our help back in the day but i guess now they earn even more. So flight sims, strategy, rpgs, are rare while i remember every single month they were being released a lot of them for every taste.
Army men rts needed different factions to play as, since the tan was pretty much a reskin with the same units the green had. If they had like the aliens from toys in space, and unique units for the tan and green the game would have felt a lot more deep
this work you did in the video was great, I ate a video about the second world war, I am learning a lot watching your video, congratulations for the beautiful work
...Why destroy the radar station? The goal is to create a beach head to fight the Tan, wouldn't it be more advantageous to capture it? Course maybe maintaining it could be less advantageous than something more mobile which I would understand.
What I like about these games is that their not fantasy based soldiers. There are plenty of game series based on fantasy and magic, Warhammer, Harry Potter Lord of the rings, Zelda, Pokemon, Dungions and dragons, magic the gathering, ETC. THESE games are based on real soldiers and not make belief. All the weapons are real, machine gun, bazooka, flame thrower, grenade ETC! The only make belief is that their plastic, but they are based on actual armies and wars such as WWII and Vietnam! I know everybody else prefers fantasy, but you can't go wrong with a bit of Army men or airfix models once in a while! I grew up on toy soldiers and Airfix. I also prefer older games such as Prince of Persia and challenge of the ancient empires, until my dad threw away my 1993 PC in 2001 when I was 12. I went berserk! Did 3DO ever do a series based on Rome or Ancient Persia? They would be quite fun to play in my opinion. RIP 3DO! Some of the most enjoyable series ever!
TheIsoZone has it available. Get it from there. But if you wanna get it to work flawlessly on Windows 10, that's gonna require a few other things. I can help you if you wish! =)
This army men game brings back memory's, especially the introduction and cutscenes. I played much of skirmish mode too.
Same bro
skirmish mode was fun
My "go to" game after school when I was younger. This brings me back so much man :D
I plaued this game so much before and after school
Part of the Janky 4 pack of army men games that were at every walmart in the early 2000s
Love this game to be honest, it kicks the crap out of the ps1 version(s) and the use of a D-Day esque setting was intruiging.
holy shit. i fucked loved this game when i was a kid. id play it for hours and hours
ur still a kid
This game was my shit when I was a kid.

Mid 90s - mid 00s was especially great for PC games.
Up until 2007 i think, great games for pc in every category, then it started going downhill.

I don't know if it's just me, but for some reason I liked this game more than Army Men RTS
Tuze Army Men RTS was more terrible than those low quality games, This game is way better.
I liked both. I wish RTS had a multiplayer custom battle option like Army Men I and II had. I didn't even know they had the World War franchise on PC
Army men rts needed different factions to play as, since the tan was pretty much a reskin with the same units the green had. If they had like the aliens from toys in space, and unique units for the tan and green the game would have felt a lot more deep
Ah, the adrenaline rush of dodging a sniper shot...
I played this game on 2002.
Army Men Are Badasses
the zombie was fucking scared to me at that time
Excellent game and the cut scenes were very well done and brutal

Now available on GoG
What is Gog
Google it and stop living in a cave.
