I really like this series. It's risky to use very long scenes in one place where people are just talking but the dialogue never felt dull. The film gave me the feeling that I was just watching a true relationship unfold.
My favourite movie trilogy. The best part of this I film I thought was when the older lady said: "Like sunlight, sunset, we appear, we disappear. We are so important to some, but we are just passing through." Just perfect, and sums up the whole trilogy.
Just saw all three and they where amazing, before midningt was just as good and I found all scenes in these movies to be realistic and true. The fight scene at the end was heartwrenching. Top notch!
"I don't know anyone who would act like this in real life." Can you not imagine the existence of people outside your own subjective experience? Even if I agree that they are pretentious, you do realize that pretentious people exist in the real world, right?
Jesse and Celine may get older, but the story of their pure love remains fresh and kicking as it was in 1994. Before Midnight truly deserves to be one of the best romantic films that works through its great screenplay, engaging dialogues, talented cast, and a love story that never sleeps even AFTER MIDNIGHT. Rating: 4/5
is there any potential for this film to get nominated in oscar for best screenplay, direction, actress and picture. or do you think Oscars will snub this film
I'll never understand why people like these movies so much. They just come off so pretentious. I don't know anyone who would act like this in real life.
Star Trek the Original Series had this story line in 1967: Season 1 Episode 21 " The Return of the Archons" . It was the episode where society was controlled by a master computer. The Enterprise encounters a seemingly peaceful civilization run by a "benevolent" being named Landru...who intends for them to join his people. There was a Period where everybody went crazy and did what ever they wanted, crime etc.
I would recommend watching this series in order. This was still a good movie but I liked the other 2 way better. This one was all bitching and it depressed me.
Haha. I get where you come from. Though i found the fact that they are more annoying (Btw i felt he was as much annoying as she was) as a more convincing and realistic feature. I remember how the first two films showed a glimpse of what annoying people this couple can be, and here when they got stuck together for so long, it's just natural that they'll become more annoying. Yet i see it as a must-have-been development of their life.
I know these movies are based on conversation. Unfortunately, actual people have never spoken quite like that. The much earlier and much more intelligent ``My Dinner with Andre`` is a vast improvement on this more novel, but several levels more dumb , series of conversations between two characters, in cinema form.
Ok very first impression of the film, 2/3 parts of the film are very interesting. The first part is the best (the airport and the car scenes) The film work best when Jesse and Celine are dealing whith parenthood in a somewhat realistic way. So im not sure if all the house scene and the table scene work too much, i felt that, with the exception of the old woman and old man in the table, the rest of the greek actors don't made interesting statements and brings nothing to the table (no pun intended). Almost the entire lunch scene was worth watching to see Jesse and Celine get more and more uncomfortable by the talk progesses about the imposibility of real and eternal love. The next part that focus on the topic of death was worth watching, but the next scene was the big issue for me: THAT hotel scene. The hole scene rings untrue for me, is tottaly out of the blue, the writing seems out of his depth, Celine get batshit crazy in 10 seconds, is not surprising that Delpy shows lack of acting in that scene, cause to match that script with good acting is a real challenge for all actors. Almost ruin the movie for me, i know is trying to be a moment of catharsis by showing the frustations of both characters but i didn't buy it. Sorry, maybe in a second viewing i understand more about that scene and see the bright side of that. For now is a 7/10 for me, maybe a 6/10 for the frustation that hotel scene gived to me.
the hotel scene was realistic, it was the first time you see them go through stuff real couples go through instead of the overly romanced content the first 2 films convey. the final couple lines of the fight before the credits make it my favorite part of all 3 movies
@jonhoog Yeah, it's a look into the life of a typical marriage. The only thing is that Jesse and Celine are VERY atypical. The first two movies aren't typical 20 somethings getting together, meeting a club or a bar or being set up by friends. And the second movie isn’t about a typical 30 something about planning a wedding and the associated stresses. They have a very atypical situation. I would have liked to have seen something atypical as their primary conflict in this film.
every-body looks and sounds like retired auto-dealers. I am not looking forward too that all the time. Like watching a show, and the phone rings, and its you're mother in law.

I think she said "Like sunrise, sunset..." like a reference to the previous films
before sunset was my favorite, god the ending, one of the greatest ending notes in a movie ever
I think Before Midnight's ending to be the best and Before Sunrise to be the best movie overall. Before Sunset felt so fast.
Concelhaut That's because it was only 80 minutes long

I love this trilogy. Just finished it yesterday
All I can say is that Before Midnight is painfully beautiful
yeah

Before Sunrise is from 1995
In response to do you need to see the first two? Not really but why wouldn't you?
What are you talking about? A movie like this is obviously trying to be realistic. That's why I commented when I thought it failed in that regard.
best trilogy of all time. shows that the movies that make money these days are embarrassingly lifeless and lack in originality, ideas and balls
is there any potential for this film to get nominated in oscar for best screenplay, direction, actress and picture.
or do you think Oscars will snub this film
I just saw "2 Days in Paris/New York"... i LOVE Julie Delpy!
Really hope there will be a fourth one
Ya in 2022...each movie is 9 years apart 😁

Such a high rated movie; probably only playing at the "art house" cinema, not the local multiplex. Look forward to traveling to see it.
Why was Ben Mankiewicz there????!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE PREMIER IN AUSTRALIA!!!!!

christy is so cool :) i wanna be just like her!
I C You think Alex Jones Report real news. Im sure a test pattern would make a good movie in your opinion seeing as how you are nuts
I love this:D
Why does Ben always seem like he's burping in these videos?

not as boring as The Man of Steel thought.. that was a piece of garbage.
Why is Ben in these reviews when he never watches them? He's the only obnoxious person in these reviews
