honestly, i'm hyped if they release either an EP or album this year; Sacrifice was really, really good, but I love Watchtower more for my personal tastes. they've aged like fine wine.
I love both but this one smacks for sure. Lyrics lowkey made me tear up a bit. I tend to push people away just like Mike ig lol. Can't wait for the album!!
This is like a mix of the speed and ferocity of Dead Throne with the dark ambience of ZII. Note that they experiment in a couple or three songs starting from WRAABB with either different styles or tunings: 1. Assistant To The Regional Manager, Wapakalypse, and Gimme Half are the only songs where they tried in Drop B tuning in WRAABB, which became the common tuning in Zombie EP and Dead Throne. 2. Mammoth and Pretenders are the only songs in Drop A in Dead Throne, which became the common tuning in 8:18. 3. Kansas and Chicago are the two songs in Dead Throne which served as a precursor of what Transit Blues and The Act would sound in the future.
Short and sweet. I expected another melancholic chorus and to end on a heavy note. It does leave me wanting more, but if this makes it into a full length album I wouldn’t mind it ending like that. The structure feels safe and commercial but they’ve been experimenting a lot in the past years and if going this route helps them get more songs out fast then I’m all in for it. One of my favorite bands since With Roots Above and Branches Below. Super pumped for their new stuff!! 🤘🏾
Been out the loop since "with roots above and branches below" so this sounds really different. Love it though. Gives me some In Flames vibes though. Immediately after I post this you mention In Flames LMAO.
Great song indeed, and totally agree that it felt kinda 'safe' as a structure and the breakdown as well. We know these guys can write killer breakdowns, so the bar is set pretty high I guess.
On the contrary, waaaay more people talked about The Act than their previous records since maybe Space EP. Alot of the OG listeners fell off with 8:18 and Transit Blues. I feel like The Act, with its diversity interspersed with crushing breakdowns got the public eye back on them, then they dropped ZII 🤯
Sacrifice is good but I think this one is even better! I agree that 'the Act' was good, sadly they were punished for doing something different there. I really liked the breakdown, for me I think you really get the full weight of the anticipation and then it totally doesn't disappoint, it connects nicely to the rest of the track and doesn't feel like an after thought. Really difficult to satisfy fans with breakdowns there have been so many at this point!
Thanks for the love! 🤘
Thanks for watching!
Love the song
I feel like these guys are such a staple yet still so underrated. I hope this next album sends them to the moon 🚀
The ZII energy is still going incredibly strong

these guys just get better and better.
I’m surprised you’re into them lol

I love the fact that when the last breakdown hit they was in like a cage it made it brutal \m/
they really blended that The Act/ZII sound so well with their older stuffs
I can't think of any other band that I gets me as excited whenever there is a new release. Love them
