Seven months on. I still have pain after resting overnight or sitting for more than 30 minutes. Your video has actually cheered me up! Thank you.

Thank you so much for this video, I am 7 weeks post operation tomorrow. Sat up at 4am in pain and feeling very sorry for myself. I had my right hip replaced and to be honest have found it a very hard journey recovery wise. The one thing that I found difficult is reading about the people who after one week, have been back at the gym and no pain. I feel will never walk without my crutch again. So your video has helped Thank you.

Thanks very much, Sunny, for sharing your post-operative experience. I am a few months behind you and I particularly appreciate your comments about recovery being non-linear, and I can identify with your concerns about the various aches and pains that can crop up along the way. I'll take your advice on staying positive, too!

Thank you for the video. I am now in the 5th month after my hip surgery. I can walk fine with my operated hip, but I still have short quick "stinging" sensations around the scar area. I also feel inflammation around the bursa area of the hip muscles. I was wondering if this was part of the normal healing process, so I looked for a video put up by someone after 5 months of recovery from hip surgery. Thank goodness I found your video. What you say, is matching my experience. I was told by my surgeon that recovery takes at least 6 months, and it takes 12 months to feel more fully back to normal. It is a long process, but the body does what it needs to do. I was able to walk comfortably and do all of my basic daily tasks and errands in my 12th week after surgery. I returned to work in my 13th week after surgery. Yet the complete healing process does longer time. It is great to hear your story about recovery after hip surgery.

I am presently in my six month. I notice that after 30 mins of walking exercise and doing some of the exercises like squats, I have developed pain. It is a bit frightening when this happens because I immediately feel like I have put something out of kilter. How you experienced this. And, of course, thank you for sharing your experience after 5 months. It is a long process to healing, mit seems.

I am 4 weeks after total right hip replacement. Everything seems to be going ok, minimal pain and my surgical leg has become my "good" leg, as I need my left hip replaced next month. I am 56 and went back to work after 2 weeks and climbed a low ridge yesterday with a backpack and deer rifle. Right hip worked like a champ, the left hip felt like my right hip used to. It is sweet relief.

That Hip Replaced in February, I was told it was in a bad state when I went in to have it done. So would rake longer to Heal, but it's now 6months and I still can't walk without Crutches, I gave Scoliosis if the lower spine, which us very painful. And have asked for something to be done about it as strong meds don't work, would thus be the reason I still can't walk normally?

I'm at 11th week. So I was thinking I should be farther along. Having hard time with surgery leg pain while trying to sleep at night. Seems I still need a pillow under my right leg for support. The right hip which was replaced works great. But my body does not like sitting for more than an hour or trying to drive more than an hour. Pain shooting down leg and shin. Once I get up walk a bit goes away for a while then. But driving I want to drive to Florida from Michigan in April for a vacation. Worried this might be too soon. If anyone could reply to your pain level with sitting and driving and how long until really felt normal. Thanks, J

@@johngoings5926 hi john! you're really at "beginning stages of healing" as i recall UNDERSTANDING nurse practitioner say at my 3 mo. postop appt. he added that 6 mos. was typical benchmark for REAL IMPROVEMENT, w/pain abatement, resumption function, etc. (i CERTAINLY needed pain relief med at your stage of recovery...)
i think you'll be fine for road trip in apr -so long as break it up w/overnite motel stay at midpoint.
(personally, i'm looking forward to 1 yr anniversary: widely accepted date for complete recovery!)
