    Thanks for watching everyone. Can't wait until summer to make more good Culvert and drainage videos. But until then I will continue to upload random stuff and I see a culvert and River conditions along with a few stealth camps

      @@xside666 definitely next summer, it's hard to find the right ones in the winter. I know some very remote ones that don't usually have water but they're inaccessible now

    You are the only person I know with a commercial grade sink in the bathroom. Good adaptive reuse!

    I have a really old 60’s laundry sink and when you fill it all the way up, the siphon is insane, it almost breaks your fingers it’s so strong.

    That vortex is satisfying to see. I love a clear drain. Not quite as satisfying as unclogged culvert but it’ll do.

    This might be a good opportunity for "science." Does starting the whirlpool affect the time it takes to drain? You could measure the time to drain with and without starting it. I honestly don't know. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your next video.

      A whirlpool speeds up the process but it also depends on the rest of the system under test. If there is a vent going to the roof right behind the sink that will have influence for instance. So doing measurements on this system won't apply to all systems

      We did the in middle school with soda bottles. Different methods to see which empty fastest. Whirlpool won.

      Me too. I have a shallow sink and it's probably the most inconvenient thing in the whole house. If you got a big roasting pan to wash, might as well forget it. I just buy those foil disposable ones to keep from having to deal.

    I'm not one for bathroom utilities but I have to admit that's a great sunk. Most of the bathroom sinks are too small so when you wash your face the water goes on the floor.

    A vortex in the Northern hemispere will useally turn counterclockwise and a vortex in the southern hemisphere will useally turn clockwise.
    This is called the coriolis effect.

    At work, I always stir the water before I pull the drain, so it has time to even out the flow before too much water is lost. I also find that a stronger stir creates a thicker vortex, whereas less stir creates a narrower vortex.

    yeah i like those kind of strainers, you can still buy them in the store, though i've never seen one that big, usually only like 1 1/2 inch diameter ones. also wish they all had that little handle on it to pull it out with, very handy

    Man that is a great bathroom sink. We had one bottle of that Lifebuoy soap. Haven't seen it since but it was good stuff. An old American brand and the bottled stuff is from China. Good video topped off with random boxes and a belch. Thanks and cheers

    What I find strange is the size of that sink it’s huge, here in the uk we have a thin chain attached to the plug and fastened just beneath the mixer tap so you can pull the plug out without getting your hands wet.

    Will it change rotation from counter clockwise to clockwise if the sink was south of the equator

      If the water is *completely* still and a large enough surface area the whirlpools will form that way, yes. Introduce any movement to the water and it will have a stronger impact of the direction of the whirlpool. An existing whirl is stronger than the effect of the rotation of the earth.

    I never seen a sink like that in the bathroom. Last one I seen one close to it was fifteen years ago in a washroom in a very old house remodeling.

    A drain guy told me that filling the sink and letting it drain in that manner once in a while is a great way to prevent clogs in the drain line.

      Yes it will get rid of any grease starting to build up inside the Trap especially if it's hot water. And it's good to stir up a septic tank if you have one

      I guess I got lucky. I'm the only person with a well who has this kind of pressure that I know of. All my friends and family there are well systems don't produce a lot. My well can produce 10 gallons per minute before it started sucking air

    👋 from uk and I noticed that whirlpool going was spinning one way but head was spinning in opposite (strange thing gravity ) and wonder if true about whirlpool goin totally anti clockwise cos av tried in uk but it stops flow corrects/starts flowing clockwise again lol mad sciences involved in these studies👍👍

    I was staying at an upstairs apartment in Hampton beach back in the late 90s and I was doing dishes and I let the water out and it hauled ass down the drain. Didn't have any way to record audio or video back then just a crappy 12 second voice recorder that ate batteries.

    Most of the water movements in your videos are not whirlpools. A whirlpool is created by opposing forces. When you see water spinning due to a downdraft (pipe, culvert etc) this is called a vortex. Love your videos!
