Dangggg, heard this great song probably a couple hundred times but this is the first time I've ever seen him perform this on video. Bad ass, cheers B.W.
Just heard this on the radio today… always liked it. Never knew who sang it, what he looked like etc. what a joy. Sorry to just hear he died young. Thank you, young fella.
My brother left this 45 at home when he went to college in the early 1970's. I discovered it after he was gone, and nearly wore it out. Awesome record, I had forgotten until now, thanks!
Very Cool! A hidden gem. The man had a powerful and clear voice when he sang, Not so much when he was talking. I love his music and listen to him often. RIP Buckwheat
I've heard BW's 1973 original, then I heard Brooks and Dunn years later. While B&D do it justice and have great stage presence, BW Stevenson sings it so beautifully! Of course, people may disagree. Of course, people may be wrong. 😉🙂🤣
Love this song. Damn shame how he went out. Had successful heart surgery but then caught an infection days later and passed at age 38. Much too young. Still, the we are blessed we had him for the time we did.
Thank you for uploading this. I am now learning more about this incredible artist. He was lended to us for only a short time. But he was an exceptional singer, songwriter and musician. It is really sad.He had so much more music to share with us.But of course life had other plans. Now all we have are thoughts of what could have been. R.I.P. Buckwheat!!!!:Your family, your friends and your fans all miss you!!!!😢😢😢🙏🙏🙏
I love this! I just heard it on my Bluetooth for about the hundredth time within many years, but never really researched it...thought I did and thought Ronnie Dunn had written it. Great lyrics and his first few minutes are soooo good. Great voice. Maybe he did not have the right agent or team, but now nice to know where this song and who it comes from.
My 2nd favorite song from the 70s. What a wonderful thing to see him performing it. Brooks & Dunn embarrassed themselves by messing with greatness. RIP B.W. & thanks 🎉❤🎉
I'm curious as to when this was performed? Daddy played with BW when they released this song. I remember as a tiny little guy riding on his shoulders. Seemed like a giant to me. Daddy used to go on about how BW was the best room mate on the road he ever had. He was a good guy. My whole family loved him. It sucks when people lose contact due to life taking them different directions. I am above average intelligence and not at all naive but I really thought the guys I loved as brothers when I was a kid would still be around when we grew up. I guess they did grow up. Maybe I didn't. This is my go to song when I need a spiritual pimp slap. Dad died a couple of years back. I hope he's out of his misery now. I'd like to think he and BW are seeing who can hit the highest note then the lowest in the same song. I remember them making my Chihuahua howel when they see who sounded the queerest. When there's no music playing and two guys that look like they should be moonshiners are squealing like a poofter who's faaabulous appletini just got spilled it ain't music.
@@tRoy-vg5yj thanks. I figured this was prob not long before he passed away. Dad had sold his soul by then and was doing full on country music. His roots were r&b. Sam&Dave, Otis,BB etc. At least when I would turn up at a show he'd change the set list. It's cool to see someone easily slip into their groove when they have somewhat forced themselves to play music their heart really isn't into. Within a couple of stax tunes the crowd full of red necks are on tables dancing. The energy is contagious. Rip dad (Charlie) and BW

I'm 70 years old. I love music and I play guitar. It's the only time in my life that a shed several tears when B.W. died---
Agree😭
Very sad to lose him and his beautiful voice
We’ll all be together again! I’m a Maria, and this song is BEAUTIFUL! 😍
One of my favorite tunes of ALL time. AM radio in 1973...
Listening here in Ireland ☘️ 2023. A classic.
God Bless the Irish
I thank God daily for Irish men. ☘
Incredible that he and his guitar could sound so good. Thanks for sharing!
You bet!
Vocals are fantastic and that raw acoustic sound. Love it 👍🙏🎸
One of my favorite songs (and voices) EVER!
Sometimes on RUclips you unexpectedly come across amazing little live performance videos.......like this one.
More to come!
The original version and the best

I love this song. ❤ He was a great singer.

I jumped onstage to help with background vocals last night when someone was singing Halls of Shambala.
Thanks for sharing! I love this song.
He died too young! 🙁 I love his music
Wow, what a talent! I have loved this song all my life and so wanted to see him singing this-thank you so much for posting this! Loved it!

Thank you. Thought I’d never see BW Stevenson perform this song!!! :)))
B.W.....The original and still the best...love the acapella. Thank you for this gem..Dec. 2023...Turks and Caicos Islands.
LOVE this song and voice,,,😀👍

and they would be....
Love mr Dunn but this is BW's song and rightfully so.
as is Shambala even though 3 dog did a good job. There is no comparison to the real thing.
You are correct.
Agree BWs the best!
Wonderful voice why did he not become hugely popular
uh.....gee....he was. Where were you?
I grew up listening to this song. I was in the Dr’s office and heard the Brooks & Dunn remake. It was pretty good but I prefer the original.
Miss this kind of Talent!!! Please bring Talent like this back!!! The music industry today stinks!!!
This is gold! Thank you.
Thank YOU for watching in 2023. I'm constantly amazed by how many people around the USA sing his songs, but don't know who wrote it.
I’ve had this album since 1973 have played it so often it’s almost worn out! Always reminds me of a kinder, gentler time!
BW seems like a good man. Darn good tune.
The complex chord rhythm he does effortlessly with his sweet voice
Original Dallas country boy
For a guitarist thats fairly easy work to play..mostly four chords
Thanks for posting this. Got to see him live once decades ago. Glad to see this video.
Glad you enjoyed it
This is terrific!!

It was a big hit for him , I know , I was 19 at the time.
Absolutely wonderful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome ✌️ peace
so appreciative of you posting this !!!
You are quite welcome. There is a lot of this kind of treasure in my "Dallas Music Magazine" playlist from the 80s local scene
Thank you! 😎👍🏻
Yep.
He's got it.
BW. WAS A GREAT SONG WRITER.
My 2nd favorite song from the 70s. What a wonderful thing to see him performing it. Brooks & Dunn embarrassed themselves by messing with greatness. RIP B.W. & thanks 🎉❤🎉
oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣
If you sold this song out, I hope you made a million$$!

Think it was 1987?

Best!
He still has a great voice.
He was supposed to be guest #1 on Austin City Limits---but the quality didn't pan out. So Willie became #1.
You might have said, but what year is this…it’s so good 😊
Off the cuff, I think it was 1988. This was shot at the Oak Cliff Reunion at longhorn ballroom
I'm guessing this was shortly before he died? @@tRoy-vg5yj
the hager twins did a hella version of this ...not many men can get up there..
What year was this video taped? I have loved this song and his voice since forever. Can't believe he is gone

Didn't know B.W. died. First time and for some time I thought this was a Brooks and Dunn song.....
What year was this?
1985ish?

I really don't think that's BWs voice.
Wow....how did you ever guess? Actually that is Hillary Clinton in drag.

@@winkfinkerstien1957 Love hearing from maga. It always makes me feel better about myself. Now go try and read a book.
Such a great song !
