Good morning from Ohio. I just found your channel and thought this video was wonderful. I subscribed and then realized that the channel stopped 8 months ago. Please restart. You have such a pleasant voice and are a natural at this!
Beautiful quilt! I never thought about using 10 inch squares but I did make my granddaughter a disappearing 9 patch quilt using 7.5 in squares for her big, bug girl bed. My daughter was glad that I didn't cut the butterfly fabrics into little piesces so the bug butterflies would pop!
I just bumped into your wonderful quilt video. You have a very calming teaching style. Linear in thought. Very understandable. New subscriber! Thank you.
Wow! I never thought of making a disappearing 9-patch with huge blocks! I bet it does come together quickly. I think I will make it for the next niece who gets married! Thanks for this video!
This is a beautiful quilt. With such bold colors, I plan to offer a white border around each 10 inch square before I sew them into a 9 patch. I think the white border may offer 🤔 a new perspective. What are your thoughts? Thank you for sharing.
I have a bunch of 12 1/2-inch squares which I had cut for wonky nine-patch, then decided I didn't like the pattern. Your ideas will help re-purpose these without cutting them down and allow me to use my large scale prints, too. I'm a subscriber now!
Sweet, it's always nice when a plan comes together, and, it sounds like your plan just came together! Thank you. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Nicely shown. Thank you very much. I used to sew commercially and used metal yardsticks for cutting extra wide fabrics. It helps to put non slip ruler tape on the back of yardsticks and big templates.
This will be my next quilt pattern. Perfect for large aquatic prints and large Star Wars prints! My last quilt just shipped a couple days ago, but that one took over two years to assemble and hand quilt. I am so ready to revisit machine piecing and machine quilting!!! Happy New Year! Aloha
Love the idea, beautiful fabrics, but I don’t like scrappy quilts. I would have used more solid fabric so that the beautiful printed fabrics would have had more impact. But to each his own. Thanks for good tutorial.
Video is well done. Love that you used the 10" squares, because as you said you can show of the gorgeous prints. Now, Kaffee Fasset layer cake where did I put you?
Lol, I totally understand the struggle with anything math. There were 24 - 10-inch squares per pack. I had 2 packs plus I added some of my own fabrics. I wanted to make sure that I had sufficient large scale prints for the quadrants of the 9-patch blocks plus enough variety so that you couldn't tell that I added blocks. I hope that helps explain where I was coming from; if not, please let me know and I'd be happy to try again. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@quiltingplusmore thanks for the explanation I did not know you used two packs of 24 *did not even know they came in packs of 24. I figured it was one pack of 42 and then you added 12 extra which is what I plan on. Thanks for sharing 😊
The fabric line I used is Blossom and Bloom by John Christopher for Wilmington Prints. Just do a Google search to find retailers that stock it. Thank you for watching and commenting.
@@bonnieharrison9828 The line came out Spring of 2018. Yikes, I didn't realize I've had it that long. After some searching online, I found pieces here and there with different companies. I didn't see any one company that has the entire line or close to it. But, I did see on Etsy that there is a 2 ½” strip pack available. Lancaster Home and Garden has 4 in the fabric line based on their website. I have never delt with this company so this is by no means an endorsement for them. lancasterhomeandfabric.com/wilmington-prints/blossoms-bloom/ While I was looking for the Blossom and Bloom line, I saw some gorgeous florals. There are so many gorgeous options out there….So sorry the Blossom and Bloom complete line is not available.
I believe the answer to your question is this: Moda trademarked Layer Cake, Jelly Roll, etc. and, yes, they do use 42 squares in their Layer Cakes. Other fabric companies do not use “Layer Cake”, “Jelly Roll”, etc. as they are trademarked by Moda, and, as such, usually vary the number of squares in their pack. The 10-inch square pack of the fabric line that I used, Blossom and Bloom by John Christopher for Wilmington Prints, is called “10 Karat Mini-Crystals” and comes in a pack of 24. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching and commenting!
It would make an awesome one, and with the blocks being so big, you could make quite a few quilts at a time. Would be a hit at a VA hospital. Or do even a nursing home. Gives me an idea.

Wondering the name of the layer cake. It’s beautiful.
How was the quilt made that’s hanging behind you in the beginning photo? I love how the white sashing shows it off!
Love the colors in the fabric you chose. What is the name of the fabric and it's manufacturer?

Enjoying the video but did you mean to say 42 pcs instead of 24🤔 I keep doing the math and I'm so confused 🤔

This would work for a quilt of valor style quilt.
Absolutely would work beautifully for a Quilt of Valor quilt. Thank you for watching and commenting.

What size are your squares?
I used 10 inch squares. Thank you for watching and commenting.
What about tutorials using yardage, not all of us out here likes precuts.
Very slow....
