      Yeah, just be careful you read the fine print. The 300 BLK adapter I saw on their website is a 1:12 twist. That's barely enough to stabilize a supersonic load. Only the lightest, fastest 300 BLK would ever use such a twist successfully. Industry standard is 1:7, and some that specialize in large subsonic bullets are made in 1:5. In a hunting situation, which is about the only application for a single-shot set up like that (other than a range toy), light weight bullets like that are less than ideal. 300 BLK hunting rounds come in all weights and speeds... choose appropriately (even the lightest 110gr Hornady GMX ammo suggest a 1:8).

    The Anchorage, Alaska police department used 2 3/4" .45 ACP shotgun adapters for training with their 12 gauge shotguns. They would run 5 rounds of 12 ga adapters with .45 ACP through their shotguns for training. Reduced cost for training ammunition; less felt recoil; showed the officers exactly where their point of aim/pointing, impacted on the target (so many people think if you point a shotgun at something, well of course you're going to hit it!! That just doesn't always happen.).
    Seeing as how the 2 3/4" inserts function through 12 gauge shotguns, give this some thought: in your pump shotgun you could have 12 gauge shotgun ammo AND the 2 3/4" .45 ACP; .38/357 mag; .44 mag; .45 Colt ammunition shotgun adapter in the chamber, or in the magazine tube, positioning them however you felt would be good 'for your use'? Training with a 2 3/4" adapter in a handgun cartridge allows reduced cost and felt recoil, yet provides you/a young adult/person of slight build, training time with the actual shotgun.

      I only have an MCA, but I think the quality on these Chaszels is far better and easier than having to send a check via snail mail. That's for the .45-70, .30-30, and other true rifle calibers, for pistol and revolver adapters I don't see the point of an adapter longer than 10 or 12 inches and the Chiappa adapters that are 8 or 10 inches are much cheaper.

    I can honestly attest the great Customer Service, even during Dec/ 2.019's Holidays, when Chad Waters himself took my order for three different adapters in .45 'LONG' Colt (I'm pretty 'Old School', BTW) + 9x19mm + .38 Spl./ .357 Mag., that provided a 'resurrection' for my late Dad's, very old Beretta 12ga single shot. Awsome results with all three using reloads. Now, I'm thinking of shortening the shotgun's original Bbl, roughly 1.5" to 2" inches in a lathe, threading the muzzle end of adapter & making a 'barrel tensioner' device of sorts, (4140 or 4130 chromoly), that can be adjusted by tightening / loosening said device, just to find out any accuracy improvement thru this project. These Chaszel products are manufactured to very High Quality standards and are All American!!.🤗🇺🇲✊

    Interesting product.
    I've seen short drop-in adapters in the past that only had 6" or less (some even JUST the chamber size of 2.75 or 3"), but a full-length barrel allows for a real ballistic ability for rifle and even hot pistol loads. Most 9mm rounds top out around 8" of barrel length, but a 10mm can use a 16" barrel easily.
    Shotgun barrels being 18" or longer, I'm impressed that this allows for a fully rifled design. Their website has 9mm, .45, 10mm, and even popular AR platform calibers like .300 Blackout or 450 Bushmaster. Obviously, these don't allow cycling rounds through a shotgun lifter/elevator so pump or semi-auto isn't possible... but it should be able to hand-load one round at a time... I'm just not sure what would happen to a 12-gauge extractor trying to grab this contraption after firing. Maybe it clears completely, and the bolt just pulls away empty and locks back on the empty magazine catch? ... or it smashes into this adapter and ruins your gun. I wish there was more information on this.
    Might be worth picking up a pump-action Mossberg 12g just to try these out though. :)
    Incidentally a Mossberg Shockwave with that shorty 14.375" barrel would probably be considered a SBR with this barrel attachment... assuming they ever made one for its short barrel. I'll probably pick up a 18" Shockwave to avoid that issue and allow for a proper tactical stock with pistol grip.
    Looking at their website, it appears the .300 BLK is rifled as 1:12, which is an acceptable rate for lighter super-sonic loads. Heavier, subsonic bullets however require a 1:7 (industry standard) or even a 1:5 twist rate. It's strange they'd make a SHTF adapter for shotguns that only uses supersonic lightweight loads that aren't really useful for hunting... especially in a single-shot at a time set up.
    For what it is though, these adapters seem like fun plinker accessories to have for the range. I'd be curious to see if a 30-30 or 300 BLK fully rifled barrel adapter would be more accurate that a rifled choke for 12g deer slugs. That would be a cool experiment/video.

    • @DickTickles
      @DickTickles 3 года назад +1

      The issue that I think these adapters have is the lighter the bullet, the further from the POA the bullet will hit, thus you'd have to do a lot of guesswork remembering where to hold at what distance with one caliber vs another. There's also the issue with barrel regulation where even if you had two inserts, one in each barrel, that were the same caliber/chambering they will likely have a different POI at the same distance.
      It's possible that with different projectile weights that it could be figured out, say maybe a 300 grain bullet in the top barrel and a 500 grain bullet in the bottom barrel could hit to the same POI at a certain distance. Could be that a .30-30 in one barrel could hit the same POI with a .45-70, likely wouldn't be.
      On top of all that there's the POA issue where the .45-70 in one barrel could hit way hi or way low in one barrel and the .30-30 vice versa in the opposite barrel.
      This is a very unique concept that requires a lot of test shooting to see what can be done to get both barrels to shoot to the closest POI and as close to the POA as possible.
      It would be a lot easier to figure this all out with just one insert in one barrel and use the other barrel as a shotgun to make for a combination gun. The double rifle concept is a lot more interesting tho, especially when you consider it costs less than $250 to turn any double barrel shotgun into a double rifle with these inserts.

      I was thinking about the normally less expensive single shot 12ga breach locks. One insert for a .458 and another for a 22-250. You could maybe add a .308. You could go for extremely big game, Hunt white tails as well as varmint. And you can still use it as a shot gun too.

      It is still easy to get them out. They're so shotguns with extractor don't "spit" them out when opening.

    • @FortuneCookie45LC
      @FortuneCookie45LC  Год назад

      JT - If you have a break open shotgun, I would recommend these. In shorter form, one could have three or four of these in his/her pack. What limits us is the sighting system on our shotguns - what these adapters allow is for us to shoot other calibers in our shotguns. And if the ranges are reasonable, and the animals large, we can make hits. More practice and knowledge of our gun and adapter barrel along with stalking or tree stand skills will bring home venison, back bear or hog without a doubt. Good shootin' to ya, Steve

    For shooting the 45-70 do you need to have a sb2 receiver

    • @DickTickles
      @DickTickles Год назад

      If that's the stronger receiver, that's what I'd use. The .45-70 does seem pretty forgiving tho loaded to trapdoor pressures, but I'd want to get more feedback from others who have the weaker receiver and have tried using adapters in them before.

      The 3 inch adapters can, but the extractor will pull them out each time. These are really a break action only type of thing.

      I have a theory that heavier bullets are better for these shotgun inserts as I think the POI will be much closer to the POA, thus I'd suggest .44 or .45.

    Someone needs to make a 12G shotgun fitted with a low profile rail so you can slap a scope on it for centrefire shooting and then be able to take it off again to go trap shooting at the country club without raising eyebrows.

      @caseyb1346 Год назад

      He doesn't do custom orders. He makes what he makes and not a lot. I got one of his in .22 and it's sweet. Super accurate and the 11" version leaves a lot of space inside the shotgun barrel for the gasses to expand . Almost like it's suppressed, doesn't hurt my ears to shoot.

    • @caseyb1346
      @caseyb1346 Год назад +1

      Oh also 556 and 308 won't work. Max pressure this even kinda works at is 45k ish. Most modern calibers operate at 55k plus pressures.
      Though really in most shotguns 35k is the limit before primers start blowing out because shotgun firing pins don't support the primer properly.

    • @DickTickles
      @DickTickles Год назад

      @@caseyb1346 Huh, 35k? That would explain why Ace up in Alaska didn't want to make a .327 adapter. Odd that Chaszeal does make one.
      I guess it depends on the primer size too, large pistol primers would be better supported than small.
