- So it turns out RWBY is bloody amazing and I'm in love with it.
Which is why I spent the last week and a half editing this video in all my spare time; I've literally forgotten to eat because I've been so obsessed with this dumb amv. But, I gotta admit I'm pretty proud of this and think it may be my best video yet. I really hope you guys like it too!

Timing skill = God-like. There are millions of AMVs out there, but this really stands out. Not even a song I'm really into, but I keep rewatching it because it's done so well.

ShinyElle Oh yeah, I wouldn't mind waiting glad you liked the song. I was listening to it and just started picturing scenes from the show and went "This needs to be a thing somewhere." After seeing the quality of video you produce I was just amazed and hoping it might happen one day
The mixing of SFX from the show with the music is brilliant, and done so well. Can't even imagine how hard it must've been to do it!
The AMV is also really fun to watch. Scenes matching lyrics and audio tone so well, yet there's still such a chaotic mix of heavy action, painful drama, and lighthearted comedy - much like the show itself... though it is a pretty jarring transition at certain points :P
Thank you for such a thoughtful comment! I wanted the video to be a mix of action, humour and tragedy to reflect the show (like you said) and I liked the idea of having moments of fun followed by moments of pain, but I apologise if you found it jarring - that wasn't my intention but I see what what you mean. And I'm also a fan of videos that match clips to the lyrics and beat and use sound effects from the show to heighten the music so it tends to be how I edit - so thanks for saying they're well done. And once more thank you for such a great comment!
You're welcome and no need to apologize at all! I think many AMVs often pigeonhole themselves in an attempt to be either too serious or too silly, but no show is actually like that in reality.
Maybe 'jarring' wasn't the best word for it. Unpredictable is more like it!
So even if seeing some of the heaviest moments of Vol.3 mixed together with.. Weiss landing on Jaune's back for example, is a little surprising, it's still definitely a new experience that represents this show quite a lot better than most :P

This AMV proves that you don't need a super fancy editing software that adds a bunch of effects to make something great. Love it, hope you keep up the good work!
I completely agree - effects can be amazing and editors can create masterpieces with them, but I think simple edits can be just as brilliant (most of my favourite fan vids have very few effects in them). I started editing vids with Windows Movie Maker and while basic it was a great beginners tool and I learnt a lot from it. So yeah, to any wannabe editors out there don't think you need expensive software to create something great - play around with something free and you might be surprised by what you can make!

God, the last time I watched this was when I was in 8th grade, and I graduated high school this year. I’m still amazed at how well done this is! The music synced up perfectly, and I love how you mixed in the SFX from the show. Congrats on 1 million views!

Thank you so much, I'm really glad you liked the added sound effects! I've only seen two episodes of vol 4 but I'm enjoying what they're setting up though I think I'll get into it more as it goes on. I'm looking forward to seeing what Blake and Yang are up to and how all their storylines will pan out this volume. What are your thoughts on vol 4?
I'm certainly loving team WTCH (antagonists) especially Tyrian. The animation is just so GORGEOUS now. Also, since you haven't seen ep 3 yet, watch Blake's ears when you do. I won't say anything about Yang for fear of accidental spoilers.
ShinyElle Finale is this week! So might want to catch up if you haven't. I am so worried about how the Finale is going to go down and how it will set up Volume 5 for Fall release.
Death flags for a certain duo, as well. This one shall be intereting. There's a new Grimm based on a creature of Norse or Scottish myth with no skin and the ability to spit poison. Guess what other Norse myth intertwines with RWBY and involves a death by poison. :)
+HuntSD I caught up on most of them except for the last one and I'm looking forward to the finale, though I have no idea what to expect.

Love this video! I first saw it via tumblr almost a year ago and it got me into watching RWBY. I binged the first 3 seasons and what was out of season 4 at the time in one night xD From that I got very interested in other rooster teeth productions and even achievement hunter since I found out multiple voices from RWBY were there lol. I also got every one of my friends hooked on the show. Now I’m a FIRST member and went to see the vol 5 premiere in theaters! Now this video is almost nostalgic haha. Anyways, just thought it might be interesting to see one of the impacts this little amv has made. ^_^
I am so sorry I didn't reply to this earlier because it's got to be one of the best comments I've ever had! I am just astounded that my little video not only introduced you to RWBY, but also to Roosterteeth and Achievement Hunter and led to you becoming a FIRST member, I mean that is just crazy to think about! What really makes this AMV great is hearing the sounds from the show in time with the music. The song also puts RWBY in a much more mature light and the clips look random at first glance but appear rather strategically placed if you dig into it.
Sometimes I feel like this vid looks like I threw everything at the wall and ran with whatever stuck but I did actually put a lot of thought into the clip choices and tried to edit it into a showcase of RWBY as a whole. And yeah, I think those sound effects are what makes this vid and people seem to really like them, which, ya know, always a bonus.

honestly the background noises from the series proper really boost the atmosphere. the gunshot noises add this oomph and they're flawlessly timed. really good video.

Man, I remember finding this ages ago. It was my favorite video on RUclips for a solid while. It's so nostalgic. RWBY today has... well, regardless of how you feel about the show's writing, I'm sure we can all agree that there *was* potential. I'm really not looking to start a fight, but this video makes me feel emotional in a way I really can't explain. It reminds me of a simpler time, I guess.

Also gotta say this is probably my favorite AMV ever, I love how the beat lines up with something happening. I just also love the little voice lines that chip in every once and a while from the show, like Boop, Zwei Barking, Nora Laughing, Ruby going Kacha in the first episode, and the whole RWBY team shouting for the food fight.
I'm so happy you like my vid so much! And you picked out a bunch of little moments that I really enjoyed putting in the video so I'm glad you liked those parts too (I think Zwei barking might be my favourite but that could be because I have a soft spot for him).
I think this is the only AMV with actual background noise rather than just the song. And that makes it infinitely better

Just to expand on this, I love how this video so perfectly encapsulates everything RWBY is about. The action, the drama, and the humor is all there. While so many other videos focus on just one aspect or another, I feel like someone could use this AMV as a shorthand for what to expect from the series.
I've watched this video probably half a dozen times since I first saw it and I still love it.

Now when I listen to the original, I feel like something is missing when I don't hear the sound effects from rwby. Good job. The sound effects could have easily been annoying but you've made them work well with the music.
for some reason I see that a lot more with this specific song than others, even better they often do it in different ways.

Coming back to this 5 years later, this video makes me so sad. I used to love rwby and its just not as good as it used to be. I miss the old rwby man. This video still slaps tho!

I still come back to this amv the most. It is the my favorite because it showcase along with the lyrics, whenever a character is walking by themselves and timing perfectly. It is the only one I see over and over again.

+ShinyElle It's because of the way the original sounds were incorporated...not lines of speech but sounds thought out to go and flow with the music as musical notes, whether on purpose or by accident. Most other attempt at sounds and speechs in RWBY AMV's I've seen don't really add to the video, more than often it does harm to the AMV. What you've done here is make a masterpiece of a RWBY AMV using original sounds to support the song and visuals....there are zero RWBY AMV's that have previously done that successfully. It's a one of a kind video.
Wow, that is some massive praise! Yeah I totally get why editors have trouble with using RWBY's original sounds - it can be difficult (or at least fiddly) adding them. A lot of the time it's trying to isolate the sounds (which frustratingly doesn't always happen) and finding a balance between the sound effects and the music used in RWBY, and then making sure the sound fits with the song and the clip (and it doesn't always work out and that means a lot of wasted time, but it's still necessary). On the other hand sometimes accidents work out, like at 0.50 with Cinder fighting Ozpin I didn't think I would be able to use the show's sounds since the music was so loud but I actually loved how it made the song more epic and it flowed better than I hoped into Ruby yelling 'Pyrrha!'.

I've been rewatching RWBY which reminded me of this, so I had to come back and watch it again. Still my favorite amv, probably ever. You made the sounds of RWBY match up so well with the music. Love RWBY.

I can't get over just how good this is. Usually I get so annoyed whenever amvs play the sound of the clip alongside the music, but here it works so well that it actually adds to the experience. Not only that, but the editing and energy of the whole thing is just amazing from beginning to end. Everything flows so well with the music, and I'm in love with every minute of it. Fantastic job

Editing this one wasn't too bad because I started it while watching RWBY so it was fresh in my mind and easy to find clips for (though the audio was still a massive headache). Of course now I've forgotten so much since I have the worst bloody memory so it's a bit of pain editing my current one (and the audio is still a massive headache). So yeah, it's taking a lot of time and patience to find the right clips and make them work, but it's always worth it when I'm done :)
