A gas heat source is very helpful during electricity outages. I experienced an outage in the dead of winter and was very thankful to have the gas logs!
I had a similar situation. Fortunately, had a wood fireplace in the family room (for cooking on), and a propane gas fireplace in the living room. We had 3 - 4 days without heat, but did ok.
When we purchased our house, I was upset there was a gas fireplace in the family room. All the other homes we looked at had wood burning. Fast forward 25+ years... so thankful. Our power goes out frequently 😢 and our 2 gas fireplaces (we installed a 2nd one in a reno/master bedroom addition) have saved us many times. Would always go with gas if I was financially able.
Personally I’m more a fan of wood burning fireplace or a pellet stove. Just can’t quite beat the scent of burning wood. Since that’s not reality for everyone though. I’d probably personally go with electric. We had a gas one in the house I grew up in and it was always breaking. The maintenance on it just wasn’t worth it so it remains dysfunctional to this day.
My father always told me to make sure I was getting a gas fireplace because the heating bill for an electric fireplace is apparently ridiculous. I listened to my father so I actually don't know the validity of the huge price difference between the two. I never got the chance to see the monthly price difference. When y'all installed the electric fireplace in your room, I audibly gasped because I recalled what my dad has drilled into my head for years. I think cost + he told me if the power goes out, I can still use gas but not electric.
GAS ALL THE WAY!! I never understood how glorious a gas fireplace was until our new home had one. Prior to moving we just had a electric fireplace and barely used it unless it was Christmas 😅 but now with the gas fireplace it being a real flame is so comfy and cozy (we live in Canada and it gets cold) it’s all the glory of a real fire without the mess and trouble of a wood burning fireplace. I understand it’s more expensive but 1000% worth it in my opinion.
We have a gas heater and gas stove. We lost power for several days this winter and we're toasty warm and had a way to make food. If that's not an issue for you do what you personally like more.
_GAS_ ..always beautiful and its warmer. Especially considering the fact that certain others are trying to _BAN_ anything other than electric! Better get it while you're still permitted to. ❤
Living in South Africa, we don't do gas or electric fireplaces! No house that I know of(and we have lived across the country) ever had a gas line and electricity is waaaay to expensive and unpredictable (thank you loadshedding) to use. So it's good old fashioned wood here.
Gas insert. It adds the ability to heat your space without electricity. We actually changed out our electric fireplace for a small franklin stove with gas "coals." We can put a non electric fan circulator on top and it kept the house (and pipes) from freezing during the ice storm this year.
Here's an idea. And then it will have the yes or no option. If the answer is yes, it'll continue playing the series. And if the answer is no, it will lock for a few minutes to allow you to go finish that task really quick.
Gas is the way to go: when you will really need an actual fire is when the electricity goes out. It could save the lives of you and your family someday. Especially considering that major outages most often occur during blizzards, and often last for days.
Gas saved my small family during a week long power outage during a severe ice storm. My adult kids still remember it we made tents in the living room I cooked over the gas fire we even had neighbors come for the last few day fortunately my food stayed frozen in a cooler on the back deck and my Mudd room was cold enough for the fridge items I had all my canning and such so we ate well. Now I have a wood stove I can cook on that keeps my whole house tosty
I don't know where you live, but, when the electric goes out 9 times out of 10, the gas will still work . Winter is COLD and doesn't care if you have electric heat or not... with gas, you can still heat your house and even cook if you need to.
Do not for the love of god put a TV above a fireplace if you have the privilege of having the fireplace in a different location. It is the worst possible viewing angle.

Hardwood floors? 😂. Plastic floors. Always get a wood burning fireplace or wood stove. The others are imitators. But you floor are fake too. So it doesn’t matter to you I think. Go fake lol

I too agree, but plz get a Co2 dector ❤👍
My furnace is gas-powered, so if I were to get a fireplace I’d make it an electric one for the same but opposite reason haha
Go with gas… it’s super cozy. Don’t forget to keep your carbon monoxide detector in that same room & keep it current 💞

Old needs to be replaced
In the blizzard of 2022, the only thing that saved me was my gas fireplace. Get gas, or wood.
Electric
Get wood. I have gas and is smells bad and the gas is hella expensive
“No, please, I love it” 😂

❤
If in Calif, better pick electric, gas is gonna be banned soon…
I’m more of a wood burning insert, it is SO MUCH more work to put in, but in my opinion seeing a real organic fire just looks amazing

“We did some cosmetic upgrades.”
*Shows entirely different house*
She is talking about their bedroom fireplace. If you watch their videos, you would know.
@@angelic710in this video, there is the living room fireplace, not the bedroom
Gas, better ambiance and works when the power goes out

Gas because you can still use it if the power goes out
I adore my wood burning fireplace. I love building and adding wood to watch the flame dan e in different ways.
Mine is propane, thermostat controlled, I love it and so does the cat.
Here's an idea. And then it will have the yes or no option. If the answer is yes, it'll continue playing the series. And if the answer is no, it will lock for a few minutes to allow you to go finish that task really quick.
When your gas or electric fails, my wood fireplace will still be keeping me warm.
Wood!!!
Pellet stove or electric. Idk why but big fire makes me paranoid bc I'm clumsy
Team real wood insert
Gas is my choice. Always will have heat if ever you lose heat in the winter.
Gas is the way to go: when you will really need an actual fire is when the electricity goes out. It could save the lives of you and your family someday. Especially considering that major outages most often occur during blizzards, and often last for days.
Combo..has electric fans..warming up place..and by doing so you can lower the gas..fire.and keep good…
I love an electric insert 😉
I don’t care which one. As long they are adjustable and heats up the area.
I say Gas. Just in case of outages
Gas insert.❤
Electric!
What if you have a multi day power outage?
I have both a gas and an electric fireplace. I like the gas one better.
Which blows higher??
Gas saved my small family during a week long power outage during a severe ice storm. Wood first, electric second
I love a gas insert but i don't have a gas line so, team electric here!!
Gas bc there are a lot of power outages. Unless you have a whole house backup generator. Everyone should have sensor rechargable light bulbs, too.
"A smart guy would cut the rebar"
"Oh are you going to?!"
"No"
Gold 😅😅😅
Gas and wooden ones are the way to go.
First
And btw this fireplace was good as it was
Gas insert. Cheaper to run and better heat.
In my country is a code valuation too have a wood fire place
Gas. Less expensive more romantic. Perfect combination.🎉
Probably too late now, BUT🤔 Non-electric gravith fed pellet stove can puts out 40,000btu's it is an excellent option
Gas definitely!
Gas. If the electricity goes out you can still use the fireplace for heating.
Gas is warmer. I've had both.
Gas. It’s warmer. Possibly cheaper
I love a fireplace because of the ambiance, but I also live in Florida so an electric one is just fine lol…also where is this video?
Wood or gas. Electric goes out and you need a sustainable heat source.
Go with wood fireplace all the ways.
Idk I like gas because it’s a real fire but after having propane heat for so long I would NEVER want a gas fire place. It’s too much of a hassle.
I don't know where you live, but, when the electric goes out 9 times out of 10, the gas will still work . Winter is COLD and doesn't care if you have electric heat or not... with gas, you can still heat your house and even cook if you need to.
Gas but our is electric hoping to put a pelt one soon
GAS baby! Waaaaaaay better and it will last way longer
Electric.
Has is the best because it will survive in a power outage
Gas! i prefer wood but gas is prob easier
GAS insert!!
Me, from Tuacany, chilling next to my giant 500 yo fireplace having no idea electric fireplace is a thing
Electric
Neither. Y'all ballin now, make the real deal happen. Like Bruce Wayne's maybe from Dark Knight.
Gas in Canada!
Gas is the only way to go.
Just put in our second revolution by dimplex
Pro gas insert
Gas for sure
Gas anytime
Wood with a chimney.
Definitely gas
I like a coal burning fireplace. Use the hest for house
If it ain't broke.
I think electric lol
Try plasma
Budget and hardwood floors? 😂 they normally crazy high prices
it is truly an oxymoron listening to it back 😂 the floors made up like 80% of the budget
I use wood it’s way better
Do not for the love of god put a TV above a fireplace if you have the privilege of having the fireplace in a different location. It is the worst possible viewing angle.
This whole I need a fireplace with a tv above it doesn’t make any sense to me
Im team do job once and leave it lol

You have extra money?
Please, don't reuse that 6x6, it is UGLY!!! Choose from the others!!
