    I tell people all the time about the sites. The park was built in the late 1960’s as to accommodate the workers building WDW. The RVs were smaller then. And if are planning to also go to Universal Studio the Orlando City RV park at Bill Fredricks Park @ Turkey Lake is only $25 a night and 4 miles from the Universal and 14 miles from WDW. We go to FT Wilderness in December and the Xmas displays are over the top but get in your way even more when backing into your site.

      Thank you for watching our video, we sometimes stay at Lake Lousisa state park, it’s super close to the parks. We went on a Disney Segway tour at the fort last summer & learned more about the campground, we agree about the sites. We do know which loops we got better in. Have a wonderful day.

    1 part of this that is incorrect is that you don't get any extended hours. All Disney resorts get access to the parks for a half hour before opening including Fort Wilderness. The deluxe resorts only get the extra nighttime hours but everyone gets the morning ones
    We love Fort Wilderness and book several times a year with our 44 ft 5th wheel. Full hookup sites are cheap and fit our rig with room to spare.

      Hey Kristen, thank you for watching our video and for the feedback. Our apologies on the clarification of the night versus morning extra hours. We also stay at Fort Wilderness frequently and love it. We wanted to give our community some things to think about before booking at the Fort. Thank you again for watching our video.

    We have found booking at a “full hook-up” may help with some of your stated issues;
    1. Save some $$.
    2. The sites are long enough for larger rigs, yes I know the pad is narrower.
    3. We have found there is less traffic in the full hook-up area, but you are further away from everything.

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for watching our know before you go to Fort Wilderness. We do book the full hookup sites, we aren’t fond of the older loops as we do know they are the older loops not big rig friendly. We used to camp here with an even bigger RV, we had a 45’ 5th wheel toy hauler. We love the larger pads because we workout outside our rig. Maybe we’ll see you around FW the next time we go, safe travels.

    Totally agree with you regarding the narrow "loop" roads and tight turns. We have a 44' fifth wheel toyhauler! Backing into these sites is NOT for the faint of heart. We have eBikes and can bring our golf cart vs walking. Additional there are bus stops at each loop to take you to the front bus stop so I don't think transportation access is a big deal even if you do not bring your own bike or golf cart. We are Disney Vacation Club owners so we just use our "points" vs paying per night. I do agree though that Ft Wilderness guests should have the same "perks" as any other on property "resort" We are big Disney fans and therefore enjoy staying at Ft Wilderness and have been there numerous times. Thanks for the video!

    One more thing about FW is when you describe the loops and sites, the park was built in the 1970’s and RV’s were not as large as today and why the roads and sites are what they are.

    I’d like to thank you for the discouraging, whiney and negative comments (according to other commenters), because I appreciate what I would call a real & honest review! For those of us who haven’t had the privilege of visiting Disney, year after year, like others who have remarked on this video, I am happy to know what to look out for and how to better prepare for our trip! So thank you again for taking the time to research and share! Good job! 👍🏼❤️

    Thanks for all of the Disney coverage, especially the Fort. We have been going to the Fort since I was 6 years old (1979) and have seen it grow and change. Can you please clarify the park early access. I believe all Disney resorts including the Fort qualify for early access. I am with you about the deluxe resort after hours - so disappointed with Disney’s decision not to include the Fort. I also want to encourage people to use the internal bus system to get around the campground if needed. Golf carts are fun but not absolutely necessary if you are trying to watch where you are spending your money. I wish Disney would bring the trams back into the campgrounds - as kids we had so much fun riding the. Around the campground. Thanks for great content!

      Thank you for watching our Disney fort Wilderness videos, we did make a FW video to show how to utilize the free transportation between the parks and the hotels. It really makes a difference to park hop that way, using the free transportation. And it was a lot of fun to film it too. Have a wonderful day.

    • @karilambe9615
      @karilambe9615 Год назад +1

      Sorry, you misinterpreted my comment. My comment is about the free bus transportation within fort wilderness to get around the campground. You don’t have to rely on walking and or golf carts. I also think it is important to note that there are long sites in all categories to suite all sizes of rigs. We enjoy the full hookups (1600-1900) loops which have long sites and the loops are quieter. We have checked in before and not liked our site, a quick call to the front desk and they have moved us with no issues. We will continue to follow your joy. Thanks for the content.

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  Год назад

      We do, we have a separate video on which sites are best for big rigs, prior to our 5th wheel we had a triple axel toy hauler and were we’re able to stay here, but it was in the 800 loops. The older loops are 100-300. Our neighbor on this trip where we recorded this video had a 5th wheel just as long or slightly longer than our 5th wheel & he hit the tree three times, of course we didn’t record that, his wife was spotting him in. Some of these sites are tricky. We love staying in the 400 or 500 loop.

      That’s a great question and thank you for watching our video. We are actually getting ready to go to Fort wilderness tomorrow for a week and a half. We recently checked their rules and regulations and they’re not even allowing E bikes or E scooters and there’s a lot more rules now. We will definitely check the Q&A on Fort wilderness website. We are excited because we’re gonna do an updated holiday video tour of Fort wilderness.

    I went last March only to join friends and hated it the whole 3 days. We even had the pleasure of a couple of sinkhole repairs on our loop, one right in front of our site the noise, dust and vibration were really bad it made our motion sensor alarms on the bikes go off.
    We were even charged $15 per day extra for our 20 lbs dog.
    Yes at about $275/night I was expecting housekeeping.

    I've been camping at disney for over 20 years. I've always made my reservations about 2 to 3 months ahead of my stay. No problems with my sites. I call and they will always try to place us in the area I request. Usually I just tell them where I don't want to stay. I always request away from the bathrooms and away from transportation bus stop. They clean sites between 9 am and 3pm. They are very quick and I'm grateful they do a through job. Quiet hours are 10pm. They only time I was ever woken aburtly was when the Kardashian rented out magic Kingdom and started their party at 11pm until 2 complete with fireworks. So I dislike the Kardashian for being selfish and rude. I've always enjoyed the fort. I always camp in a tent...tent sites are limited to the 1500 loop and 2000 loop. Only site that was horrid was site 1500. It's lite up and right behind bus stop and close to the restroom. It's not camping...it's glamping. Even the nature sounds are piped in on speakers throughout the park. I've never had problems with raccoons or bears...but there are alot of squirrel s ,deer and wild turkeys. I bring a sonic battery operated device that keeps the squirrel away. And I've only ever seen one orange rat snake. Overall it's the only place I stay at when in orlando. And generally ,unless I get a fabulous florida resident deal,I don't go to the theme parks. There is so much other things to do. Sorry you had a horrible time. For me ...I've had many great times there...and minor inconveniences like site 1500.

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you for watching our video for the comment. We’ve never stayed in the tent or cabin area. Overall, we don’t have a bad experience at Fort wilderness, the only struggle is when we need to get in and the spots can be tight depending on what’s blocking, whether it’s decorations or power box or garbage cans. We do know that some of our friends do struggle with PTSD so the fireworks can be harmful for them to hear. Chris is retired military, so these are the friends we were talking about. Our video was more of what to expect before you go especially if you’ve never been before. We enjoy going there, especially in the holiday time. It can be Spinney, so we do save, we do love taking advantage of the Florida resident deals too. We agree there’s so much to do around Florida aside from the parks. We did make a video about how to take transportation to all the Disney parks without going into the parks, if you wanted to go out to eat somewhere. Have a wonderful day.

    We have a 44’ fifth wheel. We’re in a premium this winter. (Meadows no longer available). Says 18x60, so should we be ok?I found a website that lists each site, some are easy, some hard. You’re saying you might be able to request at checkin? That would be a huge help!

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple  Год назад +1

      Thank you for watching our video, you’ll be good in a 18x60 site, prior to our current 5th wheel we had a 44’ 5th wheel toy hauler & have stayed at Fort Wilderness with it. Take your time getting into your site & you can request a Ranger to escort you. We had one Ranger that had to move some Christmas decor away from the road from another RVer & they trimmed a couple of branches on a tree for us so we could put our back patio down.

      Thank you for watching one of our Disney Fort Wilderness videos. In this video we do share that we love coming here, this was know before you go kind of video as not everyone has been camping here before and some of this many not apply to everyone as they have different type of campers, tent or cabin. Nothing wrong with just walking, but not everyone is able to walk that far and it has nothing to do with being lazy. When my mom was alive she couldn't walk much and had both of her hips replaced and towards the end was in a wheelchair and would get exhausted, so no, we didn't make her walk all throughout, but she loved Disney and so we took her to the parks. We also shared different ways to navigate through the campground. We've walked, biked, took the bus, the small ferry boat at Fort Wilderness and sometimes we just drove to the parks. Disney offers different ways to be transported for free, even in the parks too, such as the train, or monorail, etc... We even share a different video of the different transportation that Disney offers for free park hopping and going to the different resorts. We have another video of our Segway tour at Fort Wilderness, which we had an absolute blast. We have another video of us going Fishing at the Fort on a guided tour, that was so much fun. We are also a military family and personally know some folks that have PTSD so this was an FYI. If you watch to the end we share that we camp here year round and have annual passes. We are happy that you and your family haven't had any problems at the Fort over the past 10 years walking, thank you for watching our video. We wish you and your family good health and have a magical day.
