2nd Ltd I had was the 454 in '88. I bought it off my boss for 900 bucks with 965 miles on it, score of a lifetime for a 17 year old. This was a ninja based engine with great performance. I had it for a couple of years and sold it with a ton more miles and got double what I paid for it. Great machine!

I have a question, where did you get the hand grips? I have seen these on eBay but they don't have the eight locating tabs. Any info would be great I have a 87 model and want to replace the grips with something nicer.
I had the 86 version and it had 6 gears and belt drive. It was my first bike and I absolutely loved it. I would buy another one right now if I could find one in good shape. I still ride, but I have a vtx1300 now. But still, I would ride the 454 sometimes if I had one
Hey if you're still replying to comments I would like to say I have one in my garage it's really hard for me to determine the year and it's even harder to like diagnose issues
Dustin's Watson's Personally after I flushed the coolant a few times, did valve adjustment and added the new bars I’d have no problem taking her to the UP and back and that’s around 5-6 hrs away from me. So I’d say very reliable as long as your maintenance is up to date. One thing to take to take into count is she is geared like a ninja before there was a ninja so in warmer weather it’s a must to make sure your fan and coolant is running freely through the engine,lines and of course the radiator.

How tall/heavy are you? I'm looking for a beginner bike, but I'm 6'4" 275 lbs. Would I fit?

Im 6'0 and 176 and its even a little small for me.
I was 260 5'9" and had no issues in town. Highway speed wasn't awesome.
