Yes - in Queensland it was also Guy Fawkes Night ( we called it Cracker Night) in November where you had a bonfire with an effigy of Guy Fawkes himself on top. There were loads of different types from Tom Thumbs to Ferris wheels , sky rockets and the infamous thrippeny bungers that could seriously damage the local letter boxes. Unfortunately they also severely damaged people. Guy Fawkes was a real person who tried to blow up the English Parliament 400 years ago. As kids we loved cracker night but understood why it was eventually banned.
We stayed here three weeks ago thanks to your post a while back and wa a highlight of our trip! The “tank pool” was epic so refreshing after a walk along the beach and a safe spot to swim, it has given my husband an idea for home now. Such a special quiet spot and the xx slushies from the lodge was amazing!
The tankpool is awesome. The view is amazing and no sun beating down. In Utah, fireworks are available twice in July, once for the 4th and again for the 24th which is a state holiday. My poor doggie hates those things! All in all, just another day in paradise for you guys.

Growing up in Darwin, in Navy Cadets as a teenager, we went sailing every weekend in catamarans and single hull Corsairs in the dry season; and half the fun was capsizing our crafts and tipping them back up with the help of the “safety dingy” lifting the end of the mast poles, and we’d climb back in and off we’d go playing “tag” with each boat. We were bloody idiots😂😂 when we see, as grown-ups, the amount of sharks and crocs in the bloody water! Fun days.
There should be a petition to bring back fireworks, they were the best nights ever, living on the edge. Didn't see the Airforce one go off. NT smarts with the tankpool.
