Amrapali Chandra I personally like Burn better than First Burn, because although Eliza definitely isn’t some sort of saint, she is a very kind person. In Burn, she didn’t say the things out directly. She said them all in a way that she knew would hurt Hamilton, for example,
“And you are paranoid in every paragraph how they perceive you”. Whereas in First Burn has her anger shown very clearly, with the repeated “Don’t” and her definitely roasting Hamilton. But I feel like that would be too similar to Congratulations. Having Eliza show her anger in a way that keeps her elegance yet still conveys her anger and sorrow while also roasting Hamilton in a way she know would hurt while having Angelica straight up telling Hamilton what he did wrong in such a sarcastic tone and putting things clear can show a lot of difference between the two sisters.
@@amrapalichandra1727 I like Burn because she keeps her elegance and gentleness. she’s angry and sad of course but she’s not raging, it really lives up to her character description being “trusting and kind”. However, Angelica is the older sister who knows how gentle and sweet her sister is, she’s the initiator, which we see in Helpless, but she values her sisters happiness and sees that someone hurt her little Eliza, so it makes more sense for Angelica to be visibly pissed.

The reason they cut this is beyond me. It really gives further insight into Angelica's character.
Raychel Chinsolo well,i think Lin made the right choice.i think Burn much more impactful as it shows how much Eliza loved Hamilton.but i think this makes it seem like Eliza didn't really know whay she thought so Angelica has to speak her mind for her.
So if he had used this he would have cut Burn out? That seems silly, I thought he should just include both, personally. I think both of them are very important to the sisters' characters.

Raychel Chinsolo I read somewhere that he cut this song because he wanted Eliza's reaction to the Reynolds Pamphlet to come quicker and (since we see that part of this song was integrated in the song "The Reynolds Pamphlet" and we can imagine that if it hadn't been it would have taken place right after that and before Burn) it would have made Burn come later than Lin wanted. But tbh I wouldn't have minded in the slightest, I think we would have been pretty much like "YEA GO ANGELICA ROAST THAT BITCH"
It's because it doesn't really move the plot forward. Yes, it gives you a better picture of Angelica, but folding her response into The Reynolds Pamphlet gives a similar idea and doesn't take up as much time.
This is just Angelica telling Hamilton what the audience was thinking for two minutes.

Peggy unfortunately died pretty young. She died from a sickness (I can’t remember which one) and so there was no reason for the writers to put her in. Maybe they could have explained why she was missing, but still. Also, I’m not entirely sure about this but I believe she died before or shortly after the war was over. I also believe she died before Phillip, but then again, I could be wrong.

This is a very clever song but it impedes the emotional flow from Alexander's choice in "Eye of a Hurricane" to Eliza's reaction in "Burn." The same goes for the whole "Sit DOWN John!" rap and the characters of John Adams and Ben Franklin. Other examples: In "Aladdin" the song "Proud of Your Boy" and the character of Aladdin's mother, in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, the Death of Sauron and the Scouring of the Shire. Other examples from "Hamilton," Lin set up the whole "Not gonna throw away my shot!" from the beginning of the first act, but when he finally got to the moment of the duel, he cut the line "Now I HAVE to throw away my shot," because, let's face it, it was hackneyed and obvious. He instead plunged into the intensity of Hamilton's racing mind in his last moments. The result is brilliant.
