FANTASTIC video Chelsea. You really did an excellent job of explaining several key points about coatings that I think most will be hearing here for the first time ever. First off I just wanted to say you're the F*ckin man Markus, loved everything that has your fingerprints on it from Meguiars, and I've found myself perusing the detailing stuff from Harbor Freight more and more and more so I can't wait to see what else you bring to the table there. I did my VW Passat with it. I did 2 coats. Had enough left that I took it to work and coated a 35 foot fire engine. Works excellent. On my car, it’s lasted 5 months. The fire engine it lasted about 3 months. Chicago area winters.
This product is not doing as well in terms of sales probably because of marketing. It doesn't have the words "graphene" and/or "ceramic" in big bold letters to attract certain people.
I have no idea what sales figures look like, but I agree, marketing wise the naming could have been a little better. Outside of their retail products, product naming has historically been a sore spot for Meguiar's in my opinion. I've been using the Meguiar's Detailer line for the last 10+ years, and the only acronym I have down is the one product I wish they'd discontinue haha, D101
I have seen nothing but outstanding results from this product. Meguiars recommends using the ceramic detailer as a drying aid. I’m really impressed with the way it behaved on the trim pieces. In my opinion Meguiars hit a home in with the aerosol application.
HI Chelsea, Based on your review of the Meguiars Hybrid Product. I ordered and applied it today on my 2016 Honda CRV. I did the full prep, decon wash, Machine corrected, and panel wipe. Just like you said it was very easy to apply and remove. It wipes away clean with virtually no high spots. The paint feels super slick and shines great. My major challenge because I have a 1 car garage was to apply the Sealant outside, (Today is April 24, 2022 Temp about high 60 low 70's full Sun) and crazy pollen like I've never seen before. I was literally blowing each panel clean of pollen before applying and wiping. The vehicle is curing overnight in the garage thankfully.
I as a lot of people started out with mcguire's, they've always for the most part made fantastic products. As you said preparation is key. Great video Chelsea!! 👍🇨🇦
Brilliant video Chelsea. It’s refreshing to see honest enthusiasm for a product - it’s also why we love your videos - you being you! I’d like to see this compared to Gyeon Can Coat and Griots 3 and 1. Can’t wait for your next video! Thanks for all the hard work & preparation you put into these vids.
I picked this up back in December for $8 at Advance Auto. I think what threw a lot of people off was the original price at $62. Great vid! It's nice to finally see this product being applied.
Picked one up last fall from AutoZone when they were blowing them out for $20.00. I had already protected my car for the winter (I live in MN), so it's been sitting on the shelf in my utility room and I'll probably be applying it to my car later this summer. I've watched a ton of videos about this product and I'm also baffled as to why it isn't mentioned more often. As someone who only takes care of my family's vehicles (3 total), having the aerosol format makes a ton of sense for me as I'm not going to end up throwing-out half-used ceramic coating bottles when they harden from not being fully used. I'm a bit nervous about why there were so many blow-out deals on this product late last year, even though I haven't even used the product yet, I'm nervous that Meguiar's might be discontinuing the product. Did that topic come up at all in your conversation with Markus?
👍 to Hybrid Coating. I was intrigued after watching Markus’ videos last year. I have applied 2 coats of this to a Chrysler Pacifica and a Ford Escape, there’s still some left in the can. Probably enough for a single coat. Outside of Markus it took a long time for this to get some attention, surprised me as well. To those without coating experience its ease of application is a great selling point for trying a coating. It checks off the boxes for slickness and self cleaning. Although not the glossiest out there, it looks pretty darn good too!
I've had it on my car for about 1 ½ yrs and even went a few months during the winter time without a wash and wash my car about once a month during other seasons. It's not as slick as others but it doeant seem to make the paint feel super soft to the touch
I found this product in October 2021. I just coated my truck for the year making this the second application. Even after a year the coating was still there. My truck is a DD, stays outside and goes through northeast winters. What I also noticed this year is that I didn't have to clay the horizontal surfaces. The coating does an excellent job of rejecting surface contaminates.
Another great video. You just gotta love polysilazane coatings. They can be a little finicky on some surfaces....but the protection can't be beat. And we hear all the time that a "true ceramic" can't come in a spray form, which is just BS. Our spray coatings have the same resins as our full ceramics, just in different concentrations.
Chelsea I think you need to do an episode about layering different coatings. Their order of application, the time when you start your second layers (after curing the first layer or before?) and so on....
Meguiars has direction on this. Second coat must be applied within an hour but no later. Second later can be applied as soon as the first one is finished.
You are amazing and really enjoy your videos. Most of all you speak your mind as you feel and so transparently. I love it. Wish your videos were longer as its therapeutic. Most have no idea the physical and mental demand of perfection to a good eye and the hours on end of work. Nice to see you enjoy what you do. Please keep up the longer videos :-)
Hey Chelsea did you ever do more testing with this? I am very impressed with the slip and slide that is now my car's paint. It is super easy to clean now. I hope they keep making this stuff. Granted I am new to coatings but this blows the doors off all of the waxing and sealing I did in years past. It's crazy how cheap it is given the results and how much thought went into the package, too.
Great coating!! 👍 👍 👍. For me a great combo and meguiar's hybrid paint coating and M799 pro hybrid ceramic bead booster. (1st layer /1 hour /2nd layer /1 hour /M799). The hydrophobic effect is really fabulous!. I really like using M799 as a topper or for coating maintenance. And HPC really has nothing to be ashamed of when faced with the Sio2 coating!. But I wonder how meguiar's managed to cure a coating without using Sio2, but just in a polymer system?!, I'm not a chemist but I'm still interested. Wouldn't that look like the old M188 deep-crystal coating system?! Which also has cross-linking in a silicone resin coating.
Hey Chelse. We do alot of coatings with this product. It’s a easy & cheap upgrade for customers. What we noticed is it will rainbow then when it disappears it’s ready to wipe. It holds up in Northern Michigan harsh winters for a full year. Love this product!!
I applied this coating to my F-150 and my wife’s Explorer Sport after a quick one step polish a year ago. I sold my F-150 last month and the coating was still going strong with regular maintenance washes with Meg’s Hyper Wash and topping with Meg’s Pro Bead Booster. The Explorer does not get washed as often and it is starting to show signs of degradation now about a year later, the beading comes back of corse with the bead booster after a good contact wash. As I’m about out of Bead Booster and Hyper Wash, I’ve just ordered Apex Metal Oxide/Sheet combo so we’ll see how that goes on my new F-150. It’s a dark grey and stays outside so I’m hoping it helps with water spots. Was very pleased with the Hybrid Coating but always searching for the next best thing and have enjoyed Brian’s videos and wanted to support him.
I also ordered it when it first launched and unfortunately I forgot I had it until this 4th of July when I was at my parents I'll be applying it to my car and be comparing it with Cancoat Evo since I just applied it to my wife's car
I bought this after watching your video. I know they say it doesn't have gloss etc. But I am looking for protection first got other stuff for gloss I can layer on top.
Really great video!! Well explained and love your perspective. Here in Australia it retails for around $150 AUD and I thought that was a bit steep considering I could buy a more tried and proven coating like gtechniq csl or cquartz 3.0 but like you mentioned, it can be used on multiple cars and has a longer shelf life. I'm keen to go get some when it's on sale
On the subject of the "once opened" shelf life of Polysiloxane, I tried out TEC580 in early summer 2019. I put on CQ UK 3.0 a few months later on another car. I kept the bottles around, and just recently checked up on them. The CQ shows obvious crystals, the TEC580 looks just like it did when it was new. Durability is in different leagues IME. The TEC580 car was safe from the elements 22 hours a day compared to 14 hours a day on the CQUK car, and the CQUK still blew it's beads off.
I have the Meguiars hybrid coating on 3 pickups and have also been using the Griots 3 in 1 prior to this. Griots is a little easier to work with but both are easy. I am seeing double the life span with the megiars but I really love both products.
I still use the meguiars ultimate lineup as my go to lol idk why but I just always find myself going back to the ultimate lineup. I guess I feel like no other product lineup gives me that genuine feel of detailing my vehicle like there ultimate lineup does. Ultimate fast finish is still and always will be my favorite product in the lineup!
Thank you Chelsea, omly wish we could get it over here (across the pond) Meguiars here not even able to confirm it will land on our shores. Meguiars, get your fingers out of your bavk passage & make it happen.
Another great informative video. I am deciding in between the Meguiars Hybrid Paint Coating and Gyeon Can Coat for my 2021 Tesla Model 3. The front end has PPF and I am worried about coating the glass roof and back window and black satin trim. I know I can use the Can Coat on everything but can I use the Meguiars on the roof. I think not. I was just wondering if you could give me your thoughts. Thanks
Chelsea, thanks for the great video. That is a product I'll need to try once the weather warms up here in Minnesota! Just curious, what do you use on glass?
If I had to guess why this isn't as popular, it'd be probably 1) some negative bias towards the lower-cost brand name--when there's an expectation that quality coatings are expensive, one that's half the cost will be treated with skepticism. 2) doesn't provide the same finish as most ceramic coats--not much in the way of gloss/"candy" looks. And 3) poor marketing--no one knows it exists; it seems like the whole detailing world knows about Gyeon Can Coat, while no one knows about Meg's Hybrid Paint Coating.
Ooh, I'm going to have to try this one. Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions and Adam's Graphene Ceramic Spray both only last about 3 months in the harsh Canadian winters, maybe this one will be coating I've been looking for. Thanks for the recommendation. Edit - I think all your subscribers must have immediately gone on Amazon and ordered this, they are out of stock.
What I discovered. To make hybrid ceramic by tw last through the winter. After washing and prepping car. Hit it with the hybrid ceramic spray. Wait 24 hours. Add second coat of spray. It’ll last through colorado winters if applied in October
@@SheekTresSesenta I did that with both the TW and Adam's, two coats of each with the requisite 24hrs in between coats. With the TW I went one step further and put a coat of the new TW paste wax over the two coats of spray. Didn't make a difference, still didn't make it through the winter. Incidentally, it is more likely the copious amounts of salt used on the roads here than the actual winter itself that is wiping out the protection.
@@nbrider7235 oh wow yeah could be salt. Here in colorado we use some kind of chemical, “cal mag” I think it’s called? Doesn’t seem to aggressively chomp on wax at least

It really fills the towels up fast! So yea you need 3-5 towels to do a whole vehicle. Also isn’t it funny how human nature works? People think it has some kind of similar make up as fast finish just because of the bottle lol. They’re not even in the same ball park as each other. Markus is back with Megs now! Love that guy!
The issue with the OG companies stepping into the area of coating is that all these newer companies have made there name making and developing coatings and its been well over 10 years since coatings have been popular, the older companies have there customer base established and they prefer certain proven products so introducing the new age what older folks call snake oil usually doesn't work well unless you have heavy marketing towards the next gen of people. Marketing is worth more than any possible product because without it you'll fail. Just look at the garbage products and companies making a killing in the detailing world make clearly false and misleading claims and they kill. This is why we need a few select folks doing the service of cutting through the bs with unpaid, unbiased and unsponsored videos, it's a usually futile and destructive path to go against the machine but those who do are the folks we need to lift up and support. It's the same game as politics when money rules, words and "opinions" can be bought. It's a self destructive system and humans are excellent at that.
Yes. I did a heavy decontamination and then a 1.5 step using Jescar Correcting Compound + Finishing Polish, wiped down with surface prep and then applied
My biggest concern with this product is the lack of uv protection. My buddy uses it and absolutely loves it but he tops it with tw graphene spray as a rinse aid. Just for that 2 weeks worth of uv protection Thanks for the awesome video
I still buy the ultimate Fast Finish up to this day and have the ceramic coating on rotation on multiple cars, I agree with your observation and view about this product...Learned a lot from Marcus's vids and we need more videos from you guys, the knowledge alone that u bring on the table is something people tend to over see. If you really wanna learn detailing fast and efficient this channel, Marcus's and a handful are the ones that one should look out, support and subscribe, watch and learn, quick tip on what to look for on who really knows detailing, how they handle and the tool itself will give u a little bit of an idea but not necessarily conclusive, second; See who's really hands on and not just a spokesperson lol, third; the number of videos posted doesn't mean their it or that good, i'd say use common sense is my last tip lol! again jmho
With the rapid changes in technology, do you think this coating still holds up to some of the newer products on the market such as DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss? Thanks!
@@attention2detailswchelsea Good to hear. I purchased the new Cerakote ceramic coating based on Pan the Organizer video, but now there are concerns about this product. I'm going to get this product and use it on my new Tundra! Thanks!
@@SpartanKyuubi that’s where I check out. Those ceramic coatings look so easy to apply, but I wouldn’t trust myself using an electric or cordless polisher to correct swirls, etc.
Holy crap good video. Lol. I don't think this product makes the pro detailer channels much. You and maybe couple others. Retail products seldom get on pro channels. Meguiar's is a very familiar name in detailing, but in recent years has been alittle disappointing to me. Seems as though other companies have passed them up. So many amazing products on the market right now, howz a boy to choose??? Every week something new and awesome lands it seems. Phoenix EOD? TEC 580? Rhino X? McKee's 37? Meguiars? 🤔🤔🤔 🥴🥴🥴 🧐🧐🧐 😟😟😟 😲😲😲
I know. I am flooded with products and even more coatings hence why this got lost in the mix for almost a year. There's even more to test!
😂😂😂slick as snot. PMSL. Great video Chelsea. Fabulous channel. Your enthusiasm makes me want to buy this product but I’ve just ordered some Gyeon syncro. Keep up the amazing work. What an amazing lady you are. It was Mother’s Day here in the Uk 🇬🇧. So happy Mother’s Day x
I have used this on about 10 vehicles. Awesome product!
Cant believe I found a kit for $15 at ollies :D best deal cant wait to apply it
Great content are you able to reuse the towels after washing?
Yes a few times. Soak in a bucket with apc immediately after and then launder as usual.
Wicked underrated product, I bought it when it first launched at $60. Outstanding stuff.
Great review Chelsea. Looks like a winner of a product 👊😎
Oh yea ! Looks great 👍 now I got to get me some. Thanks Hun great vid as always………..
Hey was wondering if I polish with M27 can I lay this coating down over it or does this coating have to be payed down on virgin clear coat?
Do you have to do any paint correction on it before you apply the product???
Just for that 2 weeks worth of uv protection
Thanks for the awesome video
Could you please do a test with this compared to new gyeon cancoat evo and ceramic pro sport? Thanks!
It was on my to do list!
Thanks!
Yes I do
@@attention2detailswchelsea Good to hear. I purchased the new Cerakote ceramic coating based on Pan the Organizer video, but now there are concerns about this product. I'm going to get this product and use it on my new Tundra! Thanks!
Great video girl!
Hi Chelsea, just found this at a great price. Do you still recommend it 11 months later?
Yes!
@@attention2detailswchelsea Thank you! Please take this sub!
Ollies has this stuff. I just bought it last week 19.99
Lucky you!
Chelsea, I can’t remember. Did you do a paint correction before this product was applied?
Yea. She always does.
Check previous video
@@SpartanKyuubi that’s where I check out. Those ceramic coatings look so easy to apply, but I wouldn’t trust myself using an electric or cordless polisher to correct swirls, etc.
Do you know if this can be applied to single stage paint?
I’m gonna try this.
Meguiars say leave for only 1 min & do 1 panel ??
Great video, well done
Will this protect from light scratching like a traditional ceramic coating?
I wouldnt think so but most coatings dont make paint scratch resistant.
When coating starts to wear off will you have to polish paint to remove remaining coating
A quick paint enhancement would be the most thorough way yes
@@attention2detailswchelsea ok thanks again
Mucho impressed 😂 love it!!!!
Compare to griots 3 in 1 and phoenix immortal. That would be interesting!
Video is up!
Some say the gloss isn’t that great. What have you found?
Gloss is okay. Not the best but the gloss can be upped with their ceramic detailer
Can this be applied to the glass portions of vehicle?
It is not recommended to be used on glass
will it really last 1-2 years. ? can you update ?
Markus Kleis says he got 12+ months on wheels and almost 2 yrs on paint
Great video and good looking product! Add it to the list 🤣!
Glad to see white vehicle.
Maybe this coating will be a start of things to come.
SAS, slick as snot, love it!
Please try it on a tonneau cover
Oh its happening
Have yet to see it in Canada. I am sure we won’t. LOL

Meguiar's fan here.
fast finish was way better this stuff sucks
Nobody speaks how stinking this coating smells . Average product at best
