    "i just want to ride - any tips?" Yup, every run just try playing around with a couple butters. You'll figure you what flows good and what doesn't. Start em all off at slow speeds and then slowly do em while going faster and faster. Good luck!

    Worked great on about 6"-8" of average snow starts to struggle a bit past 8". ruclips.net/user/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN Very light weight and the chute spin control works well. For the low price you get a ton of value. My only complaint is managing the cord as it does take a fair bit of effort to watch and pull the cord out of the way. I found myself having to whip the cord out of the way a lot when I needed to make one way passes to mange the blow direction. It's less of an issue when you can work both directions. A battery powered version would be a lot easier to handle but that is also double the price and requires battery care. I chose the corded version so I didn't have to worry about batteries but I do now see how much work the cord is. I let my neighbor borrow it and it outperformed his smaller gas blower, he was totally sold. Very pleased with the power and operations.My only suggestion is to spend a bit more on a cordless version if you have budget for it. The cord is a bit more of a headache than I thought it would be. Very pleased with the Snow Joe brand and quality.

    Is board flex important to learn how to butter? I ride a lib tech btx banana 2011.

    • @RyanKnapton
      @RyanKnapton  10 лет назад +7

      somewhat... it's just a different weight distribution between super flexy and super stiff. flexier can make learning em easier I guess though cuz you can do them at lower speeds and it doesn't take as much force.. but at higher speeds, stiffer can actually feel better.

    Last year I was on the 158W regular Custom. I squeeze into size 8.5 boots, and still end up having toe and heel drag on that board... but thats with really getting deep into some carves. For most people it wouldn't be a problem. My weight is around 210 during the shred season.

    OMG I SAW THIS 10 YEARS AGO!! It was one of my all time fav snowboard vids for a time because I never heard of buttering. I immediately fell in love with doing this while snowboarding. Super fun. Can't believe this video popped in my feed. Also what a coincidental song considering it's been 10 years since I saw this.

  • @RyanKnapton
    @RyanKnapton  11 лет назад

    I crank the bindings as tight as possible. And b4 dropping in the pipe I always try to get that last extra click out of em. I try to center the stance on the board... if its not I'm always pretty close to it. Yeah, this board was a 156. The last 2 years I was on a 159W and then a 158W last year. I'm 5-10 and weight 210. Hope that helps, good luck!

  • @RyanKnapton
    @RyanKnapton  12 лет назад

    Thanks. I had fun making this and my other vids. I really don't know my stance width. It's a bit wider now than it is in this video... its not the widest possible option, but its not too far from it. Try taking it to both extremes, too wide, too narrow, and you'll find your happy spot somewhere in between.

  • @RyanKnapton
    @RyanKnapton  13 лет назад

    @PashaRuswe I take anything hard and rub it on the edges of the board on the ends down 1 inch past the widest part of the nose and tail. A side of a screwdriver, rock, whatever works. Just to make that part of the edge not sharp and catchy.

  • @RyanKnapton
    @RyanKnapton  11 лет назад

    Its a Burton Custom X 156. I really like the Customs and Custom X's, but most any board can work for this stuff. A softer board may help for making some buttering tricks easier at lower speeds, and a stiffer board (Custom X) will help keep the board from being too noodly at higher speeds.

  • @RyanKnapton
    @RyanKnapton  11 лет назад

    Yeah, at 145 lbs I'd def suggest a softer board than the Custom X. It's killer board for pipe, riding real fast and such, but for all around playfulness I'd def suggest the Custom or something even softer. And indeed if you can get to a demo or something, trying em out and seeing what you like is the best option.

  • @RyanKnapton
    @RyanKnapton  12 лет назад

    Yo, I think that older CX should be perfect. The wide one is too stiff, but regular width was perfect for me. And yeah, the rocker boards scare me too! Instead of having one solid edge in, they felt like I could catch either edge at any time.

  • @RyanKnapton
    @RyanKnapton  12 лет назад

    I'm 5-10 210lbs. I ride a wide version of the Custom and Custom X now so that I can get the board on a steeper edge without hitting toes or heels (size 8.5 boots). For the wide I like the Custom better, but the regular width, I like the X better. Mostly its just a matter of playing around on your board and getting to know exactly how hard to lean or press. A brand new X wide is stiff as heck tho.

  • @tommyboyazn
    @tommyboyazn 12 лет назад

    I have the same board (2011 custom X) but never have quite done it justice like you sir. 7/10 board stiffness, 10/10 boarding. Best way i can describe that board is like using a Wustof knife through butter. That board carves so well, sticks to snow like spiderman to walls.

    Personally I like Camber way better. But I know some great riders who love the Custom Flying V too. Both the 154 and 156 will work great for you, so indeed a difficult choice. If there is any Burton Demo's you can make it to, try both or all 4 and that would be the best way to know. Either way tho, all of those are great options, and I'm sure you'll love the board. Good luck!
