I love your work and I enjoyed this video. But. I'm not in any way convinced that this came from NASA engineers looking at a baby toy. That sounds very much like a variant of the "ballute" (something like a balloon combined with a parachute). It was invented well before NASA in 1948 by Goodyear and was (fictionally of course) used by Arthur C Clarke in the film "2010, The Odyssey Continues". Ckarke used it for orbital braking to change the course of a space craft that was short of fuel, rather than for landing, but still essentially the same function.
Sad that Russo American relation are so poor. Each engaged in proxy and direct wars with scientists and industries producing weaponry used to commit war crimes and genocide. I wonder what Arthur C Clarke would have thought of today's world and the colonisation of space?
