Skins is a demo because it is a song that Mito made completely in 2 days including the recording, so the person in the video is Mito, if I remember correctly I think Ian had said that he already had that song done when he switch so he wanted to release it as soon and raw as possible
Christian Yu aka DPR Ian is actually diagnosed with Bipolar I disorder and Dissociative Identity Disorder wherein he has alters/personalities that would manifest with his respective manic highs and manic lows.
His manic high represents his Mr. Insanity character while his manic low represents his MITO character. Mr. Insanity is the one who looks like Joker and his tracks are more upbeat and EDM (ex., So I Danced, Peanut Butter and Tears, Don't Go Insane) while on the other hand, MITO's looks is more emo significantly with his one white eye and eyeball ring in his finger, and his tracks are more orchestral with a lot of strings (ex., So Beautiful, Skins).
Whenever his alter takes over, he tends to blackout and would not remember any single thing during that period of time. Just like what happened to his Skins demo; believe it or not, it was MITO who composed, recorded, and produced Skins demo, and it's literally MITO who's in the MV - Ian did not remember all of these until he heard the demo and saw the MV. He released Skins as raw as possible for everyone to hear MITO's work of art. MITO was also in the So Beautiful MV, all black and white scenes were the time Ian blacked out and MITO took over. Ian did not remember any of those scenes at all.
With this, yes, DPR Ian definitely makes and writes his own songs based on his mental health and the lore of the characters in his MVs. He also directs and edits his own MVs so what more can we ask for from him? He's literally an epitome of a multitalented artist. Hope you can react to his Interviews wherein he talks more about his mental health.

Can't believe that no one mentioned Skins to you! I'm glad you decided to react to it.
It's one of my favourite songs from him. It's just so vulnerable. It was made entirely my Mito during a 2 day period where Ian blacked out in case you're not aware. It's a letter from Mito to Ian abut how it feels to hold their traumas.
The butterflies are Mr Insanity's symbol, that's why they're so present in these MVs. In the PDF I showed you there's an explanation about the butterflies so I won't go into detail here.
Both back up dancers, the pink and red ones, represent Mito's minions. You're right that this is Insanity's era, from his perspective. And the Emerald City is indeed inspired by the Wizard of Oz, Ian has been a big fan of it since childhood.
About The Green he haven't revealed much about him yet, so what we get are fan theories. Maybe it's something related to an imaginary friend that can turn into anything. He says that the only way to get into "The Other Side" , where the story unfolds, is through lucid dreaming. This is a type of dream in which the person realizes that they are dreaming while dreaming and sometimes they can manipulate the dream's characters. places etc. Maybe that's why the character is green, as in a green screen, so he manipulate it into anyone that he would like.
About instruments he plays the bass, keyboard and the drums. He used to be a heavy metal drummer in his teens.

Limbo and Skins are from the upcoming album The Hybrid. It should come out in 1-2 months (it was delayed). The Hybrid is a new character. I had the theory that it was actually IAN being stuck between MITO and Insanity, just wanting to find himself, but he recently said in a live that at first that's what he thought too, but it was actually someone else, someone ancient. way before Insanity. the origins of the origins. ALSO, Insanity's visual signature is clearly the butterflies (+ wolves once you listen to Dear Insanity...) while MITO's is thunder and crows. it'll help you tell them apart. also, if you remember the end credits to IU's Shopper, IAN made a reference to MITO/Insanity when he started getting dark and then IU hits him to shake it out of him. The desert place in the Shopper is the same location as The Other Side, the realm where IAN gets lost in as a kid and becomes Insanity as he traverses through the realm. The beings in this world are the color beings (often called simply by The Green, The Pink, etc. We saw The Red in Ribbon's dance!) The Green is just Insanity's side kick, originally seen in PB&T. The Green's line at the end of the teaser is the opening line to "So I Danced" (studio version, hence why it should be watched prior). The box they steal was the one from the end of MIITO movie. An interesting thing you'll learn from IAN after reading and watching interviews is that sometimes IAN starts a song, but then it gets finished by MITO. That's what happened during the bridge of So I Danced and shaped the direction of the song. Fun fact: IAN says MITO can hit higher notes that he can, sometimes IAN will come back to his senses and find songs MITO composed himself and IAN will have no memory of it. Also, the IAN 'Ribbon' doll with the red outfit was made and given to IAN by a fan. The end of the MV of Limbo returns to Don't Go Insane and as I mentioned in the beginning, it's part of the new era : The Hybrid. He was the one who originated the craziness in The Other Side realm in ancient times, cursing IAN with insanity. The Hybrid effect unlocks traumatic memories in your brain and takes you to Limbo. Also, the first half of the song is about MITO and the second about Insanity. IAN can play guitar, drums, bass and piano as far as I've seen. He also does the violins through a MIDI keyboard. He used to be in a metal band I believe! You can learn more about his creative process through the videos "adobe x dpr ian" and MITO documentaries.
He composes and writes all of his songs and even directs and edits the MVs! About the green we don't know for sure but he's probably an imaginary friend for Mr Insanity
Mr. Insanity (the version of Ian one in dont go insane and so i danced) is Ians manic highs, Mito (anything in a distorted voice, black and white coloring, cowboy attire) is his manic lows. Long story short, Mito hates Mr. Insanity so much so that he essentially wants him dead, hence the shootout and chasing in dont go insane.
Edit: Also, SKINS was made entirely by MITO. Ian said he had a blackout for 2 or so days and when he came to, he had this MV and demo left to him. It was a letter from Mito to Ian, discussing how it feels to hold all the traumas and protect Ian. I also believe i saw him say 2 of his close friends helped him film this mv, so its even more special.
The cool thing is that he also plays with his voice tone so when it goes very low and deep, that's usually to let us know that it is Mito speaking. Isn't that cool?
But yes, you were right that PB & Tears, dont go insane and so I danced are more about Mr. Insanity (the album they are on is called Dear Insanity...). We also get a glimpse of Mr. Insanity in the Mito movie, at the very beginning (the coat gives it away).

MITO as you've already figured, is one of his identities. Who also portrays his manic lows. Which his MITO 1 (mood swings in this order) and MITO 2 (mood swings in to order) albums.
This album, for these videos Mr. Insanity. You meet his other identity, Mr. Insanity. Which portrays his manic highs.
My favorite thing about his vocals is that, when he was still in the Kpop group C-Clown, he was their rapper. Not a vocalist.

I’ve had people try to argue with me about whether he is considered kpop and I have to remind people that he was the leader of a 2nd gen kpop group! C-Clown was soooooo good!

Actually the low voice that your hear is MITO Ian says that when switch to MITO he can low his voice and a octave but only Mito can.

i love your appreciation for Ian's vocals bcs we really need to talk abt it more i think his tone is so pretty i live for the texture & the rasp in his voice.
u also mentioned abt his way of using voice effects in his songs and that is one of my fav thing abt his music too it's just so artistic and unique i find it so fascinating how he uses those effects bcs most of the times with other artists works i did not really enjoy that cause i feel like its so tricky u cant really mess with those effects if u don't have an ear for that but with him he just knows how to use it and he does it a lot its a personal signiture of his music and i absolutely LOVE it .
and yes he does play instrumentals mostly base guitar and he has many lives in which he shows the process of making his beats and stuff

his ability to visualize such complicated emotions so beautiful and cinematic makes me speechless every time. also the story telling of his videis is so interesting but whenever i am watching his stuff trying to understand the lore i can't stop thinking about the fact that this is not just a concept these are actually what happens in his mind these are the feelings and the struggles he has to deal with in real life and it just makes me want to appreciate his art on a even higher level
