7000 miles and a month of free time, ... asphalt eatin heaven ! I went to Sturgis a few years ago and no one I met there could believe I rode my bike from central FL, through KY, to get there. To sum up what I was suprised by, the best example is: A Geezer Glide / trailer ... ON A TRAILER !! LMFAO !!! ... why ? What kinda bags are those anyway? I like the clean lines and real buckles.
He is a free soul, a real biker. A serious biker shouldn't be afraid of wearing the same pair of jeans all week long. Hence the saying, "a dirty biker," which should be a compliment for those serious riders. Thumbs up!
Hey Itchy Removed the end of my two old tire pumps put them on a 4 foot piece of skinny air hose now if we need air make a stop next to a vehicle borrow some air from their tires to our tires off we go.🕶
I’m with ya Itchy Make the ride you’ll be back was on the sticker in 97 my first time on a 95 wide glide solo I’ve been out 5 times to Sturgis SD I fell in love with traveling on a scooter. I’m from Zanesville Ohio so it’s 1400 miles for me to. 66 years old rode to Montana this year. Like your videos an inspiration to me.
...and ya can't forget a good comfortable camping dog, ya just roll em up and strap him here on the back, makes a great insulator for those cold rides at night when you don't have an extra layer. Seriously though, another great video man.
Those bungee cords you used are good if you're strapping down a tarp on a flat bed truck. Those hooks can an will scratch any thing on your bike. You no they make bungee cords "with rubber coated hooks".
Hey it's me again Itchy, my ol-lady asked me how ya came up with your youtube name, you answered that. You are awsome I love this vid, thanks to you and this vid has taught me what to take on long trips, like I told you I only been riding 3 years. You the MAN rubber side down
This summer (2014) I travelled to every capital city in USA & Canada, except Honolulu & Iqaluit. 81 days and 42,000 km (~26,000 mi.). Do not over pack ! Minimal clothes. They are easily washed or replaced. Have basic tools (wrench, pliers, etc.) The tent and sleeping bags in this video were too big. Other models compress a lot more. Travelling solo a 2-man tent is enough. Keep it to 2 meals/day. I ride 2-3 hrs in the a.m. then stop for a good brunch. Small dinner with a local brew. In towns a $50 motel; camp in the country. Have bear spray depending on location. Taking a watch ??? Never ! GPS (optional) only for cities otherwise follow your nose. Talk to locals. They know the region. And the cops are great. They were fascinated by my trip and were helpful. Help other bikers at the side of the road - at least ask if they need help.
guess all you need is extra gitch for clothing..save the room for leathers and rain gear. like you say you get the t shirts on the road.havnt takin my fatboy on trip yet..good video!
Thank you for recording your experience I ride year around for the last ten years plus off and on I think many bike owners will get something from your videos but as for me I spend so much road time my little brother is always asking me to make video I just ride I hope I can get to your level where I spend most of my time expressing what I will recommend to
You need to get a jungle hammock, your off the ground, rain and bug free, and it has its own sleeping bag, and you can carry it in one of your small bags.
Good Vid, explained a lot, I actually used some of the same techniques on my Harley, and like you, I rode mine to Sturgis, My bikes never been on a trailer, or in a pickup sense Ive owned it.
I Learned a lot from your video. My Question would be being prepared for brake downs. what numbers to keep handy and knowing where you are and where is the help coming from.
Air mattress is kinda bulky IMO. Since 1970 I use those cheap 'flotation devices you can buy at Walmart for a couple bucks. I pull the plug on it at dawn and let my body weight deflate it. Finally who is the manufacture of your saddlebags?
+Oscar Gonzalez 5 Harleys later, a 35,000 ridged build, and an Excelsior-Henderson in my garage. I guess not. Hey gonzales, let me know when you can afford a sporty. If you need help I know a chic selling one.
milwaukeegregg it protects you from debris and bugs that could end up in our esophagus. Also blocks the suns and provides wind protection if it gets chilly. I ride with a scarf 80 degree weather.
Terry Massey check this out, that bandanna helps keep your face reasonably clean if not your face will look like shit your gloves keep the road crap from hitting your hand that hurts that being said you're comment sucks!🕶
