Couldnt agree more about yuppie trailer bikers,They pay $20-30000 for the bike and never ride in the rain and dont ever buy a decent rain suit, I rode my 650 VStrom 6000 miles round trip out to Zion from Medina Ohio and I am 75 yrs old .

I've rode for 45+ yrs! Raised my kids as a single father, got rid of the cage 10yrs ago after the kids were grown. For me it's the wind, smells, the temperature and beauty I see on the road. It's the friendships I've made and the people I will meet in the future. Stay safe.... Ride hard or stay home😎

I love your video, My first vehicle was a scooter, then I moved up from there to a croch rocket and later when I got older a honda cruiser and then once I hit my 40s I bought a Harley. First a dyna and now a heritage.. I have never in my 20 some yrs of riding yet took a camping trip on my bike. Funny but I have always owned a boat so I always had my rig and my boat. My harley sat at home.. I drove a hr each way to work in LA traffic for yrs and delt with the rain and crazy traffic yr round.... Now thankfully I am In the country in Northern Idaho enjoying life. Looking forward to my many new advertures. Still I own a boat but am now looking forward to trying something new. Hoping to leave the kids with famil for a weekend and head out on the bike this next summer.... New bikers old bikers no matter. As long as they have enough respect for them selves and others to learn the rules of the road and follow them.. Ride safe.. Keep the videos coming!

Yuppie bikers aren't all bad. They do provide a source of barely broken in bikes on the used market. I look for the ones on Ebay where the seller states "Never been in rain." LOL If they only new how pathetic they were, they'd jump off of high bridges.

Closing Statement.."Ride Hard and Die Free"...I think I'd rather ride hard and live free. That's what it's all about. I'll die when my time comes..and total freedom takes over then. But,I was born in a free country,I was in the Army 9 years to help keep it that way. I'm praying my great grandbabies get to live free. We're all free when we die. Back before digital gauges you could walk up to any bike and see exactly what the miles were. The Odometer should do the talking and tell the story. Harley was the first to make it so you couldn't see the odo when the bike was off, I wonder why that was.

I was raised around the cliche biker scene. My dad was a member of a club for many years. I grew up around clubhouses and such. The one thing I learned over the years is that it doesn't matter what kind of bike your ride, what type of job you have, the type of clothes you wear, etc...it's all about who you are as a person. Anyone can dress the part, but a select actually live it. They truly live to ride and ride to live...and that ain't just some cheap patch they bought at the last rally.

That was in 1985 & I still ride and enjoy the fellowship, brotherhood and friendship of ALL bikers. Yes sir, Itchy, I agree, I will ride with ANYONE at ANYTIME. Our uncle who was a police officer (Sergeant) heard the call and was first on the scene. I rookie cop pulled up soon after. The rookie looked at my brother, saw his tats and snickered, "look at him, he must have been on drugs." They had to pull our uncle off the guy. I myself am thankful I was not with him. I bought my first Harley at 45 years old, my leather jacket is old and faded but my chaps are new. The first two months I put over 2500 miles on it and still made it to work every day. I do not consider myself a yuppie biker, I am a newbie. I have much respect for the 101% er's and always have.I have wanted a Harley since I was 14 but never got one. I bought this one because I wanted to ride with my Dad before I couldn't. I have not ridden cross country, I have a job and a family that takes most of my time. My Dad and I are going on several week long rides come spring time. I also do not take offense at Itchy's comments, I take his advice as one who knows more than I do, he's been doing it longer. If everyone could learn to laugh at themselves, we would be a helluva lot better off. If some stupid thing I've done brings a smile to your face, then I have left the world a better place.Just don't get mad when it is your turn to make me smile.

I was reminded that the biggest supporters of our cause comes from what I labeled as RUBS.
They are not LIKE ME nor MY PEOPLE but they enjoy themselves in their way. They are ALWAYS there for the Runs, Benefits, Auctions, etc. Honestly.... we couldn't do it without them.

by riding our sportys 2000 miles on just a single trip, we've earned that right to trailer the bikes this year and ride when we get there. not many people can say they rode sportsters 2000 miles in such a short time span. that patch i got means alot and that's why you see people wear them. now for the fun part. youtube search for sturgis 2009 storm and you will what we rode through. like anything else in life, it's all earned.

Can't help but get to the point of talking a little trash when you see it happening. Good thing is many yuppie bikers buy a bike and realize they can't hack it and sell it after a season of riding.. good news for those of us picking up a used bike and saving a few bucks!

Looks like most of these posters to your video need to tell you how long they've been riding. Well, I'm not. Here's what happened in an accident on my stroker H-D. I was taken to a farmers garage by some fellow Harley riders on a roll of oily tent canvas and not to a hospital. My bike was totaled so a guy in the group poured gasoline on the wreckage and set it ablaze right in the road. A makeshift IV of 50 weight was inserted into my arm and I was stabilized. A sweaty bandana was used as a tourniquet to stop blood flow and a rear chain was used to keep my femur from popping out. I had trouble breathing so a bro put my engineer boot behind my head to prop it up a little. It worked and I rested briefly. In the corner of the farmer's garage was an old knucklehead stocker. I was groggy but managed to persuade the farmer to sell me the '42. In a few hours I was back on the road, a little busted up but happy to be upright again. Made it home to the misses and Rex my Irish Wolf Hound. I'm now saving all my money to buy a farm in the country.

i dont understand why people are talking shit about the tassles? is it your bike? no! its his personal preference. its like getting a flame paint job or having big ass bulky saddle bags, or even a sissy bar, or Ape hangers,, its all personal preference so shut up! and i respect him on this if your gonna ride, then RIDE its like you cant just go to the store and get something and put it to waste,, if you own a bike and never ride it, let loose in your life,, or tell your wife to back off if your that kind of person,, but Ride to live, Live to Ride.. Tell your story by the miles you have underneath your iron horse. Gotta know how to live,, if riding isnt something you want dont get a bike and be a poser... dont take a truck with a trailor filled with bikes up to a biker rally and not expect to get made fun of lol,, For me riding is in my blood,, building bikes is in my blood, im a grease head biker Indian,, its who i am.. I love it,, i always loved growing up going to biker rallys with my dad,, it was what i did,,, So now im gonna carry on his tradition,, im gonna earn my title.... Ride hard DIE FREE!!

I said it in another video comment, if I can't ride it, it doesn't go. I saw a hilarious sticke years ago r that said "I rode mine to trailer week". Be it Daytona, Sturgis, whatever doesn't matter. It made me laugh. jayman .. P.S. I hope Val's recovering fasr and well.

I was at a gas station yesterday and some guy walked by me and said "Nice Bike" he went in and came back out and said "That is a beautiful bike, do you wash it daily?" I said, no, it only gets washed when I get caught in the rain, and it's been raining a lot...

Middle-aged man who's spent the years of my life dedicated to God, my country, my family, and my community. My wife saved up, and bought a large metric for me. I wear full leathers because I think it's wise. (Taking hours for my frozen fingers to feel normal again isn't necessary when I can ride smart in proper attire.) I suppose I fit the "yuppie" tag, but I love riding this 1800 cc horse (which doesn't give me grief like my real horse may). I love the smell of the air in the rain and the feel of the wind, within reason. I'm not going to trade that freedom away due to a title. I'll get better at riding over time and miles. I fought for our freedom, as did my forebears, and I plan to both live and die free. ...Like a "yuppie" with eagle tendencies.... Deepest gratitude to those who sacrificed for my opportunity, and I love your tag: "Ride hard, die free!"

itchy- you sound apologetic in a way. no need to explain or apologize. my first bike was a crotch rocket when i was 21 yrs old, i am now 40. from that i evolved to a 2007 sportster. in 2009 me and my buddies all rode our sportsters from chicago to sturgis. i'm 6' 190 lbs. i rode my sportster 1000 miles there, a 1000 miles back. anyone who knows harleys knows a sporty isn't exactly the most comfortable bike for a run like that, especially at my size.

Same here, I ride a 2005 Goldwing, I think Harley look cool but thats all, i don't judge anyone on their bikes at all, like this guys says its his opinion anyway, just like assholes, everybody has one , LOL. I prefer the ride to sturgis, actual sturgis itself sucks to me, i'd prefer to ride through it and keep on riding. Keep the rubber side down and just keep riding.

I think everyone that goes to the Sturgis rally should ride thier bikes to the rally that is what it is all about if you get mad about being called a yuppie biker that just means you are one I'm 21 hours away from Sturgis and I'm riding the whole way fuck em if they can't take a joke

"Sincerest form of flattery" and all that. I have seen guys who wore VERY worn leathers, rode garage built bikes, generally REALLY had the look down, yet were RUBs who could barely keep up on two wheels. I've seen others who were clean cut, polo shirt and khaki wearing dudes who put on tens of thousands on miles and were very hard core (some are even 1% pached members). As long as the guy doesn't try to fool anybody into thinking he's something he's not then there is not foul. Like Itchynoche said, its all in fun.

Love ya itchymoche, you tell it like it is. My idea of a "Poser" is somebody that tries to convince you that he is something he is not, like an LE rider slapping a 1% on his vest, or the RUB who has ridden all of 1000 miles and tells stories about how he once rode with the HA...

  • @unionrdr

Yeah,we got RUB's around here too. Weekend badasses...gotta luv it. They make a lotta money in suits during the week,a couple are skilled tradesmen. But on the weekend, the new leathers & really expensive bikes come out. One couple flips me off as they drive buy & I'm pit bbq'n while workin on my tuner (American car). Wrong atitude for wanna be's. If I wasn't already gettin old,a couple sportsters fro me & my ol' lady would be cool. Then came bronson was cool.

I pretty much agree, but more like a yuppie biker is someone who really don't care about bikes and baught one just because his friend did,and probably is more of a garage ornament,A real biker rides as much as he or she can depending on job and time off and such.and yes leather is the best on bikes, and the more patches the better.and a true biker repects all MCs and RCs

You're right Itchymoche yuppies, hipsters, and what not buy bikes to show off but without true love for motorcycles and the spirit, Harley myth is debased like that mature guy I saw dressed for a fishing day! or some disguised as officer patrol with sirenes and lights... a population who should have stayed on moped. Times are changing for the lowest comon denominator cheers Fred.

Hey if I was ritch enough to own a huge Motorhome and could afford a new CVO I'd do it and I have ridden coast to coast 7 times and have ridden in rain and snow and 126 degree heat and have traveled in excess of a million miles on a total of 36 bikes.....but if I wanted to go to Sturgis I'd still ride it because that's my only choice but if someone wants to provide be me with an executive Motorhome and a trailer I'm game and I don't give a cat's ass what you call me lol .....
But I guess if you see me in Sturgis then it is highly likely I rode there and smell bad from lack of showering and have a sore back and blisters on my ass .....if that makes me hard core then so be it ...
but if I could afford a better option can't say I would not take it just to see how the other half lives .
