You should absolutely try it with the settings in this video I made... "How to Play Sonic Unleashed on an i5", it's the most stable way of playing it without seeing a slideshow. Requires an older version of RPCS3 too!
To anyone who may be REALLY wanting to run Unleashed on this bad boy, I can say it's playable with the right settings. I finished my full playthrough today. There's obviously moments where slowdown occurs but I personally don't feel they ruin the experience as they don't occur enough to. Edit: Jsyk Shamar's hub is like 10fps as of rn Edit as of 7/27: game is now unplayable thanks to an RPCS3 update
@@Beastmd I recently got my deck and have been playing the game on and off , with the latest rpsc3 build it's running decently except in some areas, have yet to encounter any game breaking bug, the performance can be bad at times but still playable. make sure you dl the app from their website and set it up yourself and not use the emudeck version, i would randomly crash while using it in the first wherehog stage so i had to make the switch
When the windows drivers comes out, this game will gain much more performance on Xenia 360 since it's more GPU bounded than RPCS3. Although, I'm real happy that it's playable atm :)
@@cheezyfriez12 Unfortunately not, because Xenia uses a DirectX 12 implementation that is currently incompatible with Proton. Xenia under Proton can only run with the Vulkan renderer, which sadly performs much worse compared to the DX12 renderer.
The fact that it runs at all is honestly a miracle, and there are mods you can use to improve performance. For an idea, in certain areas, my Ryzen 5 2600 (not the greatest, I know) still drops to about 15 frames per second in some areas, if not less.
Just got my own deck in, tweaked rpcs3's settings for like 3 hours This can run at a consistent 20-30 the entire time, almost on par with how the 360 ran the game at launch, and still a bit better then the og ps3 experience in terms of nothing but fps

@@MashedStar I tried Xenia, on the default steam os it's practically impossible to run without fps boost or shadow map mods via the Unleahsed Mod Manager, even then it's sketchy. I also haven't had it crash on boot like the example in the video, it usally crashes in the result and loding screens though However if you either duel boot or override it with windows and use practically anything but Vulkan it runs like butter I'd personally wait for xenia to have a Linux port before attempting to run almost anything on it with steam os
Late comment but from what I hear SD2 is basically confirmed to be the same as the first albeit in a different configuration so if RPCS3 doesn't get better this is what Unleashed will run at.
Please try Sonic unleashed project too, it wil most likely give you a much vetter framerate. Tip: set the resolution to 1280x800 and cap the framerate to 30fps if the framerate still sucks.
I got it 100% speed on steam deck with xenia running with proton (the graphics are glitched with wine but proton fixes it) you also need a few mods for a better experience

@@MashedStar also see if you can use the trackpads for the ds stylus. Ds emulation is always weird on different devices because of the touch screen, it would be awesome if you could map your emulator “stylus” to one of the trackpads

your wrong this game is cpu limited almost always. My 1060 could run from 4k or 1080p or even native res and the fps would not change. The same thing for my 2080s. the i9 isnt affected by resolution but it is effected by other factors such as what is being displayed like dynamic shadows and stuff. If you disable it in the manager you can increase perf cus less load on cpu.
It's extrmeley difficult to tell if your comment in the description is sacrasm or not with the video. It's so distorted that it makes it difficult to tell if its due to your camera or the emulation. :(
That probably runs at a fluent 60fps as it’s a steam game that’s actually running on the steam deck and not emulations and seeing as the steam deck can run all the latest games at 60-120fps it’s only logical to assume a game like sonic generations should have no problem running on it at all
@@aahiljcat I have an prebuilt from Alienware that’s packed with an rtx 3090 my monitor runs just fine and there is no issues it just shows me an illegal message when i try opening unleashed i suspect it might be due to it being pirated

I feel like "how well does Sonic Unleashed run on it" is a pretty strong standard for measuring the computing power of a device.
just because the rpcs3 is trash, in xenia i run the game 60fps stable and on rpcs3 it runs 12 fps but xenia crashes all the time with this game

When the windows drivers comes out, this game will gain much more performance on Xenia 360 since it's more GPU bounded than RPCS3. Although, I'm real happy that it's playable atm :)

@@cangel8563 I'm a little late, but both actually run at the same resolution. Unleashed has a weird resolution of 880x720.
