Welcome to my RUclips series dedicated to helping you (and me!) become a better jazz pianist and improvisor. In these videos of lessons, exercises, patterns and transcriptions we will work on concepts that I've developed in my own practice routine. Dedicated weekly practice of these lessons will greatly improve your ability to listen and hear improvised jazz melodies.
Topics covered:
Voicings, Improvisation, Chromaticism, Bebop, Pentatonics, Diminished, Scale Theory, Modes, Patterns, Learning Tunes, Chords, Rhythm, Re-Harmonizing, Sequencing, Ear Training, Singing, Transcription and much more.
I love modern jazz piano. I owe so much to great pianists like Bud Powell, Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, McCoy Tyner, Lennie Tristano, Art Tatum and many more (most of which I've transcribed) for pushing the limits of the music. I'd like to give a little back to the community by making these educational jazz videos.
All lessons are free to view in full screen on Scribd.com and many are purchasable to download/print for a very small fee.
Glad to have found this exercise. Just what I wanted. Thanks so much.
Gorgeous sound I just did it on my keyboard I love it... practicing for like a half hour... beautiful
it's very appealing by the way, it's beautiful
For your viewing pleasure.
no i mean the lid for the keys
could you introduce lessons with the lid at an extra lid fee, where the lid would be included in the videos, i want to gain more in depth knowledge about the lid, like lid modern jazz and blues jazz vocabulary, lid voicings and scales, and other lid exercises for intermediate players, etc
thank you so much
Thank you so much for the lesson. Do you change fingerings when you play on others keys?
Excuse my "ignorance", but do you guys mean with "lid"?
why no lid ?
"Why no lid?"
Free Jazz lessons, printouts at a nominal fee (well worth IMO), and you want a lid, in addition?. You want him to smoke it for you, too?
Besides, the objects on view on the harp form a significant subtext to the lessons, if you care to pay close attention.
Nice chops. BUT PLEASE TUNE THE PIANO!!!!
