Thank you all for watching and I will see you all in the next video :))
Really happy to find this model because I had a lto of customers asking about this bike in particular, but coming up very soon I have a pro model and sworks side by side to show off the difference of what you get for the money. any questions please let me know down below!!
Great, and if they’re both Shimano even better
Any idea on the Shimano Pro Vs. SRAM pro positives and negatives ?
Thanks, keep at it.
I ain’t gonna give up 8 grand easily and still rate my 19 Venge pro as being very competitive with ceramic speed BB & OSPW.
The hills and climbs would be one reason why I’ll upgrade …
What head unit mount is that? I just took delivery of an Aethos Pro UDi2 in Satin Metallic White Sage/White Sage. The Pro really is the sweet spot in terms of price/value. I won’t call it reasonably priced but when compared to S-Works, it’s pretty close. Fun watch 👍.
The Sram front mech also has a Speed Sniffer.
Timecode: 10:02
hahahahha like bike like component s
Somebody should 3D print Speed Sniffer buldges for popular bikes. Attach it with 2 sided tape and go!!!!
With integrated light.
Tririg is already ahead of you for something similar. They did it for tri bikes. Only problem is you need their stem or handlebar. Either way it will not work unless you exaggerate it to something like a 10:1 ratio.
I literally can't decide what bike to get. The Canyons are really appealing because of the geometry making you more aero. My old TCR is great but honestly I sit upright so much that I suck down wind like crazy
I aint gonna lie either the canyons are becoming more and more cheaper and now with mvp getting thw world champion it is very nice bike
Pine Green Di2 next please. Thanks for cracking out these sl8 vids.
Yes please!!! I have ordered one in Pine Green ❤
yes you right color is so nice I like it a lot , but this frame set is no go for me ....
The answer is: no-one. No-one who pays their own money for an S-Works, needs an S-Works.
I have a great video poitning out the differences
@@GCPerformance18those Rims on your truck CLX or CL’s?🤪🤪
Not a matter of need. But no one I know would ride those crap wheels or be caught with Force on their high end sled.
@@Davek111wheels aren’t crap but agree with you on the force
Do you think force is bad?
Ordered this bike, with the Yen rate here cost me about $7250. Going from a Roubaix to this, I am really excited. Can’t wait
you are going to love this bike from the roubaix a comp[lete different feel more responsive!!!
You gotta compare sl7 to sl8 haven’t seen a legit review of that yet
Side by side comparison
I assembled a sl7 pro size 52 with dura ace di2 11speed and alpinist CLX wheels for 6,6kg.
very nice
Picked up my Pro (Ultegra) in the Onyx Blue Satin today, just waiting on the Ride Wrap to arrive to pull it out of the box and start building it up (which doesn't look like will be a lot of work). Only planned mod at this point is to swap out the 155mm Power for a SLR Boost. May swap the bar for a 36cm bar or cockpit down the line.
thats awesome that color goes very nice!!!
Does the frame look blue or more indigo in person? Depending on the light it can look purple in some pictures in I have seen online.
Congratulations bro..I love the new look of the SL8...I own a 2022 s-works sl7 tarmac & I'm happy with it right now.. I might just swap out my bars for the new Roval cockpit bars..specialized is killing the market..their marketing team are one of the best..
@@LOGICAL-JAY I've been trying to get a disc brake Tarmac since March 2021 and the availability in Canada in 49 cm in a spec that I like has just been trash, in the past I've tried to get the 2022 SL6 Sport, 2022 Tarmac SL7 Expert (Ultegra), 2023 SL7 Comp Di2 and my dealer hasn't been able to get any of them. I asked about the SL8 during the leaks before the announcement and the only reason I got it was because another shop cancelled it and that was like the Thursday before the Sunday launch. I may eventually swap the 38cm bar for a 36cm bar or cockpit, as I generally run a 36 on the road and 38 on gravel but that will be a 2024 change.
Good to know the Pro framesets are trickling in. I'm waiting for one myself and have yet to hear of a delivery date.
great video; what size chainrings?????
48/35
Specialized marketing team are on point..one of the best bike marketing teams out there..i love the new look of the SL8..i already own a 2022 s-works SL7 so im ok for now..i might just swap out my bars for the newer roval cockpit bars..who knows..i might swap out my frame next year to the SL8 if i change my mind..lol
Expert saddle on a pro?? I always thought the pro came with the pro saddle that had a carbon body shell with Ti rails..love the content though..
Hi, Is it possible to use that plastic new - Compression ring from SL8 to SL7? thanks
what u mean?
@@GCPerformance18 I just wandering if you can use that new plastic compression ring from SL8 in SL7. As SL7 is using the metal one to guide the cables in the headset.
If you spec both frames sl8 10r and s-works 12r on the same components which one will be faster as both are 16 second faster then sl7 so between them is no different only the price? so what a point to buy s-works frame when the cheaper one have same figures ?
Weight
just ordered one! from a sl5 pro to sl8 pro... man... can´t wait.
A full stack of sl7 spacers on this bike looks absolutely ridiculous.
The contrast is jarring.
But its for sale, so that's probably why, so the customer can cut it down as per their fit.
yea it is crazy but full stack with the rapide dont look too bad
@@GCPerformance18
Exactly brother
Specalized getting paid
Size 49cm Tarmac SL8 weight is the same as my aluminum road bike in a size 60 cm frame with mid range aero carbon wheels. If I was to buy this lightweight Tarmac SL8 in a size 61 cm frame. How light will the bike be? 😢
With pedals close to 8kg
Really can’t decide whether I opt for the sram force or Ultegra on the Pro model. I’m guessing the power meter Is much better on the force?
Shimano power meter is bleh
Yes the SRAM power meter is better imo but both are still great. I don’t think you would even notice the difference. I think it comes down to component preference. Hood shapes, shifting speed, charging. The new sram force is a very nice group but also SHIMANO ultegra
@@GCPerformance18 is the power meter on the ultegra pro model only on one side? Whilst the SRAM force model is dual?
Had a head mashing time whether I opt for the tarmac or go down the Cannondale supersix route. I think what’s swaying it for me is no power metre on them and the super sixes are lot more heavier.
I hate sram road. I wish the Di2 came in better colors. For $8500 I’m not willing to settle.
Truth! Force is junk compared to Shimano!
0:18 I know the bike industry is going for larger and larger tires, but woah, that's a big one in the background!🤣😂
hahahhaha, that is what road bikes are going to be in the future lol
@@GCPerformance18 it's not a joke
Thank you for the vid. Are you sure the powermeter is dualsided? The Ultegra build is 4iiii single sided. Thanks for a feedback🙏
yes they have the power iondicater on both sides
That kind of bike is very suitable for me but i'm in philippines and the price of that bike is 5x here in my country
50x i mean
dang IM sorry
“I think I blacked out for just a second”😂
Is it worth the money for the pro model versus the expert model?
yes because the pro you get the nicer wheels and the carbon wheels and the nicer group, the wheels are a huge upgrade
I'm interested in this bike also...but I already have the new Trek Madone SLR 7 Gen 8. But I want this bike also, so that I have the best of both worlds. Is it worth it to get this bike, too? Or should I go with an entirely different type of bike (like an endurance bike, ala the Domane).
Every video for a Tarmac SL8 Pro or Expert model that is an out of the box build that I have watched shows the bike with an open stem cover and a spacer on top. Is this because these models leverage an SL7 stem versus the one piece Rapide handlebar? Do you have to cut the stem to use the flat cap cover on the SL8 models to get the clean line look? I don't think that was true for the SL7.
Size 49??!! Is this for sale at Gap Kids??!!
hahahhaha
Hey, have some respect for us, hobbit cyclists :P
THIS is the bike I want (albeit a 54, not a 49 lol)
this weas the first o fthese bikes that I have seen in the force but it is very classy
So the s works gets the 12r carbon and the pro, expert and comp gets 10r carbon?
hahahahhaha I feel like you say this eveeyrtime, this has to be a troll at this point
@@GCPerformance18 😂 i was wondering when you was gonna catch on to it. I watch all your videos on the tarmacs and you used to explain that in every video. Lately you haven’t so I figured I would. 👍🏻
How many mm spacers come as standard on the sl8 ?
40mm
@@GCPerformance18 thanks , in your opinion new madone v Sl8 for mixed courses . Have an Aethos but find it dog slow bar climbing .
GC how did you fix the issue with the seatpost? I'm a bit concerned b/c I'm 4'11 and don't have a lot of seat post showing. I got the zero degree seatpost but I'm wondering if I should buy a darimo because it comes in a 200.
so we went ot our hardware store go the same fitting drill bit, measured how high the hole was and centerred it, cut and re drilled..... works perfect
@@GCPerformance18what size drill bit?
As a fellow short cyclist I am curious if you left the stock stem length on ? or swapped it out. Also How far foward/back do you run your saddle on the rails?
@@dets run my saddle in the middle, but use short nose saddle so the rail in very short. I'm waiting on one more part to arrive to start the build. But looks like the 0 offset will be going back b/c I saw it weighed 189g. It may not even be a problem. I never have my seat post below what the spec say. But specialized should have released a 250mm seatpost.
@@GCPerformance18 I was wondering about cutting the seatpost. I have a 54 frame on order, but with the di2 battery and a 710mm saddle height the stock 380 post will almost certainly be too long. If it's just a matter of cutting the post and drilling a new hole, that shouldn't be too tough.
I’m in between sizes. I’m 5’10. 54 or 56? I’ve yet to find any bikes in local shops to compare. Any recommendations?
thats tough, I would probably lean more towards a 54
Go with the 56
I'm the same height. It kind of depends on preference. If you are flexable and don't have to many back issues, you could pick 54. This will result in putting the saddle a lot higher, which results in a more aero position. I had a 56 venge, which was my personal preference.
GC back at it again with a dope vid. This colorway in an Ultegra Di2 would be ideal (only if).
hahahah Thank you!!!
Hmmm,if the sl7 was mush & the sl8 has thinner seatstays, chainstays that sound likes this would be mushier
no, they can make carbon in ways to make the bike feel stiffer where it needs to be,
is it possible to add one or two more spacers than the maximum it comes with?
no that is as high as it goes and what they recommend safe for a carbon steerer
Hi, i just bought the tarmac SL7 Expert color Gloss carbon/green forest. On the frame i can see carbon fiber under paint and i dont like the visual. It seems to be defect. on your video i believe see the same thing. Do u know if it s normal ?
yes it is, this is known by specialized to be like this
I’m excited about the SL8 & plan to get the Pro in Ultegra DI2 (I love the green) when I can find one in a 54.
the pine green looks really nice
which tyres are those? Specialized ones?
I only watch these for the hub sound checks…… 😂👍🏼
hahahha I appreciate you watching them at all so thank you
Which is the more attractive Pro model frame color? Satin blue onyx (Ultegra) or Satin black (Force)? I can live with either groupset.
I like the black better, for me the blue doesnt do it
Get the black if you race because black don't crack so if you crash you are good.
Is Fact 10R going to be more durable than the 12R since its using more material?
Yes, in hindsight
I'm prescribing Hammer curls to ungirl your arms!
Hahahhahaha
Soooo, the Pro is less aero than the S Works, ref the cockpit….
yes without the cockpit i would assume so as well
Maybe marketing people still need it?
I built my custom with a Merida Reacto 56cm 7000e full carbon frameset that I was lucky to get with the Vison 3D 440mm fully integrated handlebars & the CW 380mm aero seat post. full Ultegra 8100 Di2 12 speed groupset, Specialized S-Works Romin II carbon 3D printed saddle & 50mm carbon rims Prime Black Edition layed in with Tpu tubes wrapped up in 28mm Continental Gp5000s black chilli compound beaded race tires...,weight 7.865kg which I'm more than happy with as i weigh in at 98kg..,happy day's 👊🏾👍🏾
hell yea
Nice truck at the end, Really nice wheels and tires on it.
:) thanks so much!!
Wheel and tyre combo just perfect for all the rugged mountain roads and heavy snow Florida gets 😆😂
Size 49 weight 7.4kg …
Getting trolled at this point, that’s a pig even at size 56
“Thank yewsguyssswachingg ughhhhuuhhhwuuuhhhuhhhhh” 😂
Rather have a Rim Brake RIBBLE SLR
IYKYK
What do u know? Who makes that frame?
a ribble slr? wtf, I would go with a different bike lol
It's not 16 seconds faster with those bars 😉
The color on this one is very nice
I think so too!
Meh. I'll pass. Really sick of the "black on black, on black" trend with racing bikes, it's boring.
@@LosihoTTT I love mat carbon or white bikes. Bike color is personal preference and I like mine to be clean and beautiful and not purple :)
@@mohamadjamil3164 Definitely agree on purple 😆
The Pro versions are quite nice although I prefer Ultegra. The colourways tho…😒
yea the pros are so nice but I am also bummed by the colors, I liked last years color way better I dont know what specialized are doing for there colors, they use to be known for having there colors super nice
@@GCPerformance18 remember that dark shimmering red on the Pros from couple of years back? They should have kept that forever. They only went downhill from there and it is getting worse and worse with every next year. Very strange.
Really want that bike just to be 16.6 sec faster
It's not🥲
Hahahhaha should I do comparison test over 5 miles course and 10 mile course
@@GCPerformance18 Yes! hahah
I would buy that bike just so that I can flex having an SL8.
Because let’s face it, anyone who buys bikes for performance value and races are idiots. You’re better off having a real job and having the money to throw at any bikes that you want for leisure.
Will there be moren colors available later this year? I dont like the colors for the pro at the moment
I'm looking to buy in a few months and this video has made up my mind that this bike will be the one I buy, great video as always!
good luck 🤣
this is a great bike, I love this model over the ultgra version the oclor and group goes so good with each other
The real MVP 🤙😁
no you are
This is the truck we all knew that you owned.
lmao I need it to pull my camper
Not me with that price😂
Como eu gostaria de ter uma dessa nem que fosse usada para eu pedalar..amo bike
earths shakin
hahahha yea its def not me
Wow thought it would be lighter hahah
I need allez sport !
lmao
Speed sniffer and SL7 spacers and stem don't look that good imho. With this frameset the best looking option is the new Roval Rapide handlebar stem combo. The " speed sniffer " on the Dogma F looks better with the Talon one piece cockpit.
So many proprietary parts on these new bikes 😂
this bike isnt that bad but the new aero bikes are getting that way
@@GCPerformance18 bud thanks to you I avoided buying these SL7 proprietary mess and got me the SL6 Comp with the round seatposts from 2021. I replaced all the parts with Alpinist parts and got the bike below the uci weight limit, it was light as heck and did not break my bank
Real talk? If I HAD to get a Spesh, it would be this. The s-works is way more expensive but hella less value
I have a video showing the two bikes side by side, shows every item on the bike price by price
That bike is very expensive here compared to my bike that is 200dollars only HAHAHA
yes this is tre
The absolute best #1 way to waste your money. 😂 I have a bike that cost a 1/4 of that and it goes just as fast.
But if you enjoy it and it makes you happy that’s all that matters
@@GCPerformance18 that is true.
What bike?
I thought my bike was compliant until i noticed the tyres were under inflated
lmao
oh mate, this is my grandma wheel
what does that even mean lol
0:27 😂
lmao
Heavy
like this D***. but honestly it is not that bad
Weight without pedals , it seems...
yes it is
smaller = more aero its common sense
I don’t think that the speed nose is compatible with the old or new handlebar system. What a flop
yes it is
Lean your SL8 against a wall and it'll crumple like tin foil
Hahahhahaa
The bike overall, is BETTER !
The seat tube is proprietorized THINNER,
The seat stays, THINNER,
The Bottom Bracket, THINNER
Your wallet, Even more THINNER @GC Performance 😂
lmaooo the last one is biggest truth of them all
I love black but this color looks dull..
it is somethign that you can spruce up down the road with decal kits
in UK same spec at $10000 what a joke :))))) ,s-works $15000 even better 🤣👎🤢
Junk wheels.... and Force is garbage in the world of high end drive trains.
wheels are no where near junk, but the force the new force is really nice i had it on the van rysel and I feel in love with it, pair it with sram red cassette and sram red chain and u got your self a really nice group
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
I'm like every body it seems wants the latest lightest of the light road bike that you can get from any of those mainstream bike manufacturers that charges us anything from £4k entry level all the way up to in excess of £8,10,12,14,16k when any of us can build our own super custom build bike spec to your own fit for a tad over £6k with all top tier components like what i did which will give any of these stupid insane crazy price mainstream rip you the hell off bikes a good run for their money..., mine cost £6.3k & has all the latest top tier components so as i said who buys these when you can literally build your own for a fraction of these crazy prices...!!
