Marvelous! EDIT: I wash the jars, lids and rings when emptied. Replace the lid and ring on the clean jars and it will keep the creepy-crawlies out until you need them. Sterilize and can, you are ready to go!
Oh Linda, I finally got to use my Victorio food mill for the first time!!! It was a joy. I made pearsauce, its like applesauce but made with pears. I had bought a peck of the cutest little pears at the orchard & finally got to them yesterday to process, they were so sweet, ran them thru the pumpkin setting, after taking the seeds out, & then cooked on the stove till it came to a boil, added an ever so slight sprinkling of cinnimon, maybe 1/2 of an eightth tsp, its fabulous, got 9.5 pints.

I found a great bullion without MSG. It's Orrington Farms Broth Base from Kent Precision Foods in St. Louis. It wasn't any more expensive than the bad stuff and tastes MUCH better. It's gluten-free, too. Ingredients are: salt/sea salt, dextrose, maltodextrin, chicken, yeast extract onion, garlic, turmeric, white pepper, & parsley. I think I got it at WalMart, and I think Target has it, too.
+Bill Johnson Sometimes yeast extract and MSG are the same, because some companies use 'yeast extract' as a synonymous for MSG. Unless the bouillon you found, is organic, then the yeast extract could be from a natural resource, thus not being MSG. If you want to avoid MSG in your diet, you might want to look that up :)
That's good to know. I hadn't heard that, but it does say on the container, and on their site "Made with 100% Natural Ingredients, Gluten Free, No MSG Added and Contains Sea Salt" Hope that's true.

Linda, this is a great idea! You have show cased the basic method. We cooks ( and learning cooks) can take it from there to tweak it by preference. It is November 2018. I just bought the jar vacuum sealer for my Food Saver and bought the larger Ball jars. I am not a salt fan, but there a lots of suitable alternatives out there... thanks for taking us along! Gives me lots of other ideas to explore!...Keep posting. I appreciate your efforts :-)

I was wondering if you have ever heard of Thrive Life foods, I had been using Honeyville and some others for years, then I found Thrive Life and I've LOVED them!! The quality is super high yet the price isn't any higher than the Honeyville, they also have a wonderful selection of freeze dried foods. I have been so happy with my freeze dried foods now, we use them every day.

I have been canning for two years, but nothing on the scale that y'all are. BTW, the hamburger turned out WONDERFUL! I added a little garlic and rosemary to it when I fried it like I always do, and my kitchen still smells wonderful! I just got a dehydrator from my brother, and our garden is going in as we speak. Did you pouch your chicken first? Did you use fresh peas or frozen (thawed) and then dehydrated. Also, do those mylar bags come smaller? I've read pressure cooked chicken rehydrates well but if you cook it other ways it well not rehydrate well. Canned chicken is pressure cooked as far as I know. I found a good recipe for pressure cooker chicken on the internet so it's out there. GOod luck.

I get that at costco but I saw Walmart has it too, and you could leave that spice out if you want:)
I store my rings in 5 gallon buckets, regular in one, widemouth in the other. I'm up to 2 buckets for regular rings now...lol

I think the jars are beautiful but putting them in the packages to store flat is impressive. 😯😍
Yes seal them and you can leave the rings on as long as you wash and dry under them first:)

Do you know if a recipe calls for Dehydrated milk I have Moo's Milk from Utah? Is it taste the same?
2 tablespoons Powdered milk
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon herbs de provence
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Cracked black pepper to taste
1/2 tablespoon chicken boullion
(salt from boullion)
Chicken flavored rice 1/2 cup rice
The rice she used was some she had prepared. She may have a video on it.
Happy Preppers She has a video on making minute rice from Jasmine Brown rice. She cooks the rice in the chicken broth and then dehydrates it.
