the hexmark destroyer is actually not that bad anymore. between the point cost reduction and the removal of AoC it can do work. Its a nice support piece for skorpekhs.

I'm pleased the Hexmark is seeing some play. I was discussing his abilities with a buddy that plays Guard, and he thinks it's an underappreciated unit. Yeah it'll look silly against Custodes, but it will absolutely blend Eldar, Kasrkin, Hearthkyn, and many other units that cost far more it. Just wiping a single squad of Imperial Guard makes his points back, and that's before you talk about his potential for scoring. Definitely excited to play one soon!
One thing that I rarely see mentioned is that it completely ignores hit modifiers and cover. This makes it particularly nasty against Harlequins since a lot of lists use those to make their units more survivable.

I'm suprised that Lokhust Destroyers are doing so well in all honesty. I run some in my army for a couple years and they've been super useful too. Now it seems like a lot of Necron players I know are digging them out to use
went to 40 pts, have core, and you are able to take large group and buff it, you can put 1 heavy into it which means you can be tricky to take damage (3 dmg weapon? sure, ill put it into heavy, 2 or 4 dmg? ill put it into normal destro) and you can revive lokhust heavy destro later, and that is the best technomancer value you can get in the game (outside of menhir reanimation i guess)

One of the crazy people running 60 flayed ones in novok. Had the third highest point total at Lvo and 6-2 in omens in tournament play. Find me another 200 pt unit with the potential for 200 attacks. They’ll kill anything in novok
Personally I'm so happy lokhusts are being picked more. They're some of my favorite units in the codex. I like to just spam the hell out of Heavy Destroyers and these guys can have you sneak in up to 3 more. Three units if Heavy Destroyers with 2 Enmitic Annihilators (Anti-infantry) and 1 Gauss Destructor (Anti-Armor). Then you run three units of Lokhust Destroyers with 1 or 2 Lokhusts and a Heavy Destroyer with Gauss Destructors gives a hell of alot of firepower. Especially in a mephrit list.
Recently played a couple of games of Boarding Actions with a new Necron army, despite me being fairly new to the faction omg destroyers did some work! Taking a squad of both Orphidian and Skorpekh seems almost cruel against Marines :)
Makes me think a flayed melee Necron army could be fun. Too tempted to center around the Silent King. Might not be Meta but I always thought he’d be the last character released when I started Necrons in 3rd edition
My wishlist for 10th edition is to have Flayed ones and Warriors as troops. Then up the firepower on immortals and make them Elites again. Maybe give flayed ones forward deploy instead of deepstrike.
I'm currently working on a teleport pincer list with the monolith and a bunch of teleporting shenanigans to box the enemy in with heavy artillery on 1 side and melee on the other with tomb blades and scarabs swarming around still got to iron out sum kinks tho.
Ive been trying to find some decent 3d print proxies for lokhust destroyers, Ive got 3 LHD's and i really want to give the regular destroyers a go but i refuse to pay £10 a model for such an outdated kit
Doomsday Ark ? Reliable firepower ? .... D6 Damage mate. that's NOT reliable in today standards. But we don't have better. So we make-do with it. I'm surprised Canoptek Wraiths are not in .... goes to show that the current meta values damage more than tankiness I feel. Gotta give it to the Good old Scarabs .... Consistently amongst the best unit of the codex throughout the editions and even a lore rework.
Hey I love my main artillery swinging from killing a knight in one shot to barely scratching a Chimera. God remember when that casket of a unit was like 170 points at the start of the edition?
Real quick, the necron codex doesn't have a +1 to charge warlord trait in any Dynasty. Chronomancers still rock regardless, but the warlord trait you're thinking of is a reroll to charge rolls which can be a little redundant on him depending.
@The Orange Wizard yea but thats not a trait. You can also run the butchers Dynastic Tradition, but it's not something you can add to a non-melee Dynasty.

The doomsday arks are just objectively better. If you really need the 4+ invuln then you can boost their 5+ to a 4+ with a strat and then you have the can't be wounded on less than a 4 on top of that
With the points decrease I can now bring out two units of x5 deathmarks as they're cheaper back field objective sitters than immortals. Longer range, too! I do, however, like a full x10 squad of tesla immortals. Wrecked almost 30 ork boyz in my last game. I then veiled and repaired when they got into melee.
It's sad that the Lokhust destroyers are such an old kit :/ Also, doomsday arks and doomsday cannons are so swingy they're just unreliable. Meanwhile, d3+3 in every other codex ... quite infuriating.
I have such a love/hate relationship with the heavy destroyer . In my 5 last game i fielded 1 it never did any damage in all 5 games almost always roling 1 on the first hit roll . But i like the danger it create .
Hardwired for destrucción rerolling ones, technoracular targetting for autowound and you have the most consistent anti tank we have And if you run 3, which you need, save the command reroll for the second one, and you can give them MWBD to hit on 2s rerolling ones
i always run them in squads of 3. Putting MWBD on them and a lokhust lord nearby, you often have all three shots hitting the target. I once did 21 damage to a knight in one volley :D
Chronomancer is still absurdly overcosted like most necron HQs. Why does a fully kitted out chronomancer cost more than a primaris captain? Theres something very very wrong with that. Necron HQs all need their points slashed.
@@Happy-zg4zd the captain buffs offense though. space marines get apothecaries for buffing defense (6+ FNP aura is vastly superior to 5+ invuln to one unit). i would rather have a primaris captain and an apothecary than a crappy overcosted chronomancer and a technomancer or a massively overcosted overlord . the space marine equivalents are not only just as good at support but they can fight way better too! And for less points. And the space marines get better relic and upgrade options. necron hqs are a joke. And cryptek arcana is overcosted junk. slash all necron hq costs by 20% then they might be fine.
Honestly TSK losing core was justified, because the Triarcal menhirs also had core if you fielded something with rites of reanimation you could bring back his menhirs, keeping him alaive almost indefinitely.

It denies opponent's ability to field a T3 unit on deployment zone objective without screening. If met with Marines hexmark could just hide behind terrain and make it annoying and needing the resources to hunt it down.
royal warden is still really good, it's just that when other things got core, it made it where there were better things to be doing. armor of contempt also didn't do any favors to that strategy. lost the ap on warriors against something that was supposed to be a good match up for them, space marines.
The royal warden isnt that good though because its absurdly overcosted. Necron HQs just cost way too much for no good reason. A primaris captain only costs 80 points! By comparison a royal warden should around 55 points at most. Most necron HQs could use a ~20% point decrease to be on par with the new space marine HQ point costs. and a necron overlord with a voidscythe is 100 points? while a primaris captain is 80 points? what a joke.
@@Khobai I’ve had good success running a warden, technomancer, chronomancer and overlord all in my list. I’m not sure I’d agree that they need buffed. Space marine captain is decent in melee, minimal in combat and gives the reroll aura. You spend ten points less, lose the melee threat, boost the shooting and also get the fall back and shoot as well as relentless march aura. I think that’s a steal. Depends what you want from your HQs though - Necrons are not the army for players who want their HQs at the front swinging their scythe/sword.

He didn't get buffed. AoC got removed making him delightful lead of a liability if matched against SM. Still good into anything T3 and/or 4+ sv. Add to this that Obsix is not longer allowed AND secondary nerfs (purge getting the double nerf of not scoring turn 1 and not requiring the opponent's unit to be WHOLLY within the quadrant to deny scoring) have made room for old considerations such as "behind enemy lines".
The Canoptek Reanimator boosts reanimation protocols to 4+. Warriors will then be reanimating on 4+ rerolling 1s. It's a big difference. Get a chronomancer to give them a 5++ invul and it's incredibly hard to take out a 20 stack.
Newer codexes have units doing d3+3, flat 4, or d6+4 damage. Destroyers doing d3 for 45 points, which is exactly the same since 8th edition indexes, is hardly anything to be excited about. Necrons need a dps boost, bad.
destroyers get 3 shots at d3 damage with BS3 and reroll 1s hit and a strategem to reroll wounds. what are you even talking about? necron destroyers are one of the best anti-marine dps units now that AoC is gone.
@@adenahmadi3212 the bigger problem with doomsday arks is that they get heavily penalized for moving. I could live with the D6 if their profile wasnt reduced when moving.
@@Khobai agreed. Both the ark and doomstalker should be big enough to move and fire that gun without penalty. They're not infantry. D3+3 should be the damage profile though, at minimum. Though I one day hope that something called a doomsday cannon would actually feel like world-ending damage.
@Khobai so your saying against transhuman and possibly -1 damage, your comfortable spending 270 points and 2 CP every time this unit fires to maybe kill 3 or 4 gravis marines? Keep in mind this 270 point unit will be exposed after doing so, probably with no invuln save, after killing maybe 150 points. Now, if your running them with the SK to soften up units for him to kill, you've committed over 25% of your points to that with the SK slogging up at 8' a turn so your not veiling until turn 3 or 4. GL keeping all of that alive with multiple units ignoring ivulns and moving 2x as fast.

Hard to beat 4 wounds for 15 points. Mine consistently hide from LoS behind tiny walls and balconies. I love it.

Not great damage output and a bit overcosted
wraith damage output is terrible theyre bad against anything that isnt chaff. and we have better units for dealing with chaff.
I like the Doomstalkers more than the Doomsday Ark because they are cheaper and come with a 4+ invulnerable save. They also have cool stratagems.

the swing on the dmg can be pretty big as well. think d3+3 might be a better option. less max dmg but a bit more consistant.

@@adenahmadi3212 the bigger problem with doomsday arks is that they get heavily penalized for moving. I could live with the D6 if their profile wasnt reduced when moving.
@@Khobai agreed. Both the ark and doomstalker should be big enough to move and fire that gun without penalty. They're not infantry. D3+3 should be the damage profile though, at minimum. Though I one day hope that something called a doomsday cannon would actually feel like world-ending damage.
@Khobai so your saying against transhuman and possibly -1 damage, your comfortable spending 270 points and 2 CP every time this unit fires to maybe kill 3 or 4 gravis marines?
Keep in mind this 270 point unit will be exposed after doing so, probably with no invuln save, after killing maybe 150 points.
Now, if your running them with the SK to soften up units for him to kill, you've committed over 25% of your points to that with the SK slogging up at 8' a turn so your not veiling until turn 3 or 4. GL keeping all of that alive with multiple units ignoring ivulns and moving 2x as fast.
