- When you travel full-time, most people assume it's the same as a holiday. But it's not.
Although we have traveled in many different ways, fast, slow, backpack, overland and now by motorhome, full-time travel is NEVER the same as going away for a few weeks.
With winter approaching in Europe, we find ourselves along the coast of Puglia in Italy where we discover that this region is more than just white-washed towns and stone buildings. For people like us, this might just perfect.
ABOUT US:
Welcome! We’re Andre and Lisa. A married South African Italian couple, who have been travelling together for almost 20 years, to more than 40 countries. In 2018 we gave up our professional careers and all our personal possessions in order to explore the world as full-time nomads.
Over the past year, we have travelled through 13 countries in Europe with our 20-year-old Motorhome. Please subscribe to follow along and join us on our adventure!
You can find our blog at www.wewillnomad.com where we post regularly about the destinations we visit along with travel tips and what we spend on travelling.

I’m starting to get withdrawals from my weekly Andre & Lisa fix 😂.Love to you both 🇬🇧👍X
❤️ Thanks! We should be uploading again by the end of the week. 😬 Got a lot of editing to catch up on once we receive the new laptop!
@@WeWillNomad Thank you - the reason i ask is because : i am travelling , by accident, not planned because i did not know about your video --- in that region / not place/ but that area, in January 2023. And it is my first time - so i kind of am preparing now for that region -- i do not know where to stay, so i am a wanderer (homeless for a few days) nomad ; and i end up here with your video........because you are in bathing suit ---- LOL...and he too Lol...
@@keepcreationprocess In January there might be less of a chance to wear a bathing suit in this area 🤣But we really like the Salento area in Puglia and as it's low season finding a place to stay should be no problem. If you are travelling by camper just take note that most camper service stops are closed out of season.
Great kiting! There are quite a few kiters between Torre Canne and Ostuni on a nice stretch of sandy beach behind the dunes. Kites are up as soon as the wind blows landward.
Would love to explore some more of the kite beaches in that area. ❤️ There's some really nice beaches, we just need more wind! 😁
Waiting for your next video!!
Working on it ! 😁
Just found you guys
Loved your video - natural and informative
We an Australian Italian couple planning a van trip through Italy next year
Grazie
Thank you for your comment! We definitely developed a bit of a soft spot for Puglia. Italy by van is great! All the best with the plans.
❤
The wife and I must do Southern Italy. Beautiful places, Looks like a nice winter area. I tend to want to hang out, the wife not so much, I think that goes back to my days full timing before I got married, I spent a few winter's in southern France, got to know people there, One winter I only did 100 Kms in 3 months I think I walked twice as much as that and cycled the same and so inexpensive too.Happy happy times. Thanks guys for sharing.
Some parts here is a bit touristy but it's you're into slow travel you can find real gems. Last time we refuelled the van was September 😁 is oddly embarrassing that we haven't moved much but it's truly been great for us
Such a lovely video. We love sharing your adventures and getting inspiration as we plan our own. Oh and we also love Parkrun 😃
Keep having fun guys and thank you for taking us with you 🙏
Thanks so much! 😊 Yes, we do miss out weekly Parkrun! The Salento run was a very sociable affair and the people are wonderful.
What a fabulous spot. I’m really enjoying your videos.
Thank you!
That all looks super chilled! Super.
That was a great month! 😁😎
Hey Andre & Lisa, Just want to say love you guys, enjoying every video 😊 thank you 🙏 greatings from the Netherlands to you 👋
Thank you for your lovely comment! ♥
Very nice location indeed, looking forward to seeing your cooking vlogs as that food shop looked amazing and I'm sure you're not a shabby chef!
😁 Thanks! One tends to get rather creative when cooking on the road but it's usually pretty simple
This was such a charming vlog. I love how the cat appears the second you show the salmon!
Definitely not a coincidence! 😋😄
Glad we got to meet up with you both. Now you know why we fell in love with Salento.
We're just happy we didn't miss each other completely! It was so close! (Typing this from outside your castle 😋)
Oh this is how we travel. Randomly. Its such fun. Great you got time to chill out for a month. Currently were stuck in Zagreb due to me having an accident and emergency shoulder reconstruction surgery. But NEXT week we can finally get back on the road. Yayyy. I want to watch all 300 plus of your videos haha....
We strongly discourage you from watching our really old videos. Unless you enjoy cringe worthy content 😋😂 Emergency surgery!? That sucks. We had a minor 'incident' a week ago - which means no activity for a few weeks. It happens so quickly! Luckily no surgery though.. Where are you heading off to?
Where on earth did you store all the food in your van? One v-blog on how to do it efficiently (especially if you are shopping once a week) would be a great too 🤞🏻
🤣 Frankly, we often don't know how we get it done either! But sure yes, for the most part we've figured out how much we can manage at a time. We'll definitely look at doing a video!
It looks like paradise, I can see why you couldn't leave 😍
We always book everything ahead so we can't really get stuck😔sometimes I wish we could 🤩
Beautiful, beautiful beaches and sunsets, wow👌
The only thing missing was gelato 😁
@@WeWillNomad yes, but you replaced the gelato this time with a gin😁 and that is fine with me.🤣
Inspiring ..Im in New Zealand and thinking of selling up and doing the same thing next year :)
Awesome! Full time nomad life has its ups and downs, but it can be incredibly rewarding. This upcoming March will mark 5 years since we gave up our home base - it has been interesting to say the least. Speaking of, we need to get to New Zealand! The irony is that we planned to do a 6-month road trip there end of 2020!
Wow ! That seems like a lovely area. And you managed to fit in a Park Run, Its on our bucket list.
Puglia or Parkrun? 😋😄 We can definitely recommend this area!
@@WeWillNomad Puglia, I didn't realise that Parkrun's existed outside of the UK and Ireland. If you like getting in a bit of exercise while you travel, you might enjoy doing Hashes. Hash House Harriers. I'm not going to explain, google it.....
@@creekyknee Would love to join the Harriers! Thats actually a good idea thanks - we'll just have to see where abouts they gather. We've been doing Parkrun in SA for a while but as the events draw many people it's oddly less sociable. We enjoyed the Salento run and went back for a repeat the following week. 😁
Wow you're cirtainly living the dream, that's the main thing, we're snowed in back in the UK. 🙄😀😀😀👍👍👍
To be fair, it's not always fun and games 😁😋 But at least we don't have any snow where we are. 😎
Glad you had a break, I can understand the need to make so many decisions can be exhausting. Where do you plan to spend winter?
We're not sure about winter yet but we have a few plans on the table. 🤔 More than likely we'll see out December in mainland Italy but for January &, February we'll have to find somewhere warmer.
Hi guys. I have just found you.
Presently we are planning our travel around Europe Heading from New Zealand to england. Buy the motorhome and head into Europe.
Idylic 🌊❤
“Salmon on special”
Cat “say what”
🤣 It all makes sense now.
Hi, this location looks just right for us too. I’ve tried looking at the map. Do I have the spelling correct…Torre Chianta? Many thanks,Caroline
We got really lucky with the weather and season. The spot is marked on Park 4 Night in Torre Chianca.
Hello Andre and Lisa
Enjoying your videos a lot. Just wondering did you go across Eastern Europe on your 20 k European journey. I couldn't find any videos of it. Did you devoured via Denmark down to Italy?
Alas we ran out of time once we reached southern Norway and we headed south to Italy via Denmark and Germany. Next year spring we hope to see more of Eastern Europe.
Weather is now pants in the UK and we've just booked a 7 night cruise leaving in a couple of weeks starting in Mallorca and visiting Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa La Spezia and Naples for £363 each, so we'll be able to try some decent ice cream soon. When are you adopting a kitten??
Wow that sounds like a brilliant deal! We've never been on a cruise ship.. But Lisa is rather keen.
@@WeWillNomad just booked easyJet flights £188 return for two, so tell Lisa to check out cruise 1st and join us!
😁 Now that will something
"Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy"
Guillaume Apollinaire
Aah yes. Nice quote. Are we fickle creatures or what? .. Always chasing something. Everything is normalised eventually. Societal conditioning, pressure, boredom, expectation, all of the above? Interesting topic for perpetual travellers.
@@WeWillNomad it's just what sprang to mind as you guys were talking
Will you ever visit Piedmont? A region without sea but a lot of mountains... Turin, Langhe and Monferrato, Canavese e Valli di Lanzo, la Sacra di San Michele, il Lago Maggiore ed Orta, laghi di Avigliana, Candia, Viverone, Ceresole Reale? Better staying at the seaside in a quiet and relaxing beach... One of my grandmas was from Puglia, San Severo di Foggia. In cities like Turin, Milan and Genoa more than half of the population has southern Italian origins.. or other continents...
Ciao Andrea! We have not spent much time in Piedmont sadly, but it is a beautiful region. In 2018 we drove via Switzerland and stopped at Orta San Giulio. That year we also visited a few places along the south (Ovada, Cuneo, Aqui Terme) and last year we went back along that route especially to again stop in the small town of Mombarcaro. We definitely want to explore more of that area next time!
@@WeWillNomad Hello A & L. just found your videos for the first time - which beach is it ? is it ssoo quiet ? I was in Southern EUrope -- and there were ssoo many campers.
@@keepcreationprocess Guess it mostly has to do with time of the year. This video was recorder towards the last half of October which is well past the peak season in southern Italy. Other parts of southern Europe however, stay busy throughout the winter (like Spain and Portugal). The beach in the video is close to Lecce in Puglia.
I do nt know - how old you are , but you look very good en very young to be retired , already : so, he actually speaks italian ? ---- delicious...............food.....you have there - but how do you combine the food to make the dishes /meals ?
Let's call it an extended sabbatical rather than retirement 🤣
You have a different campervan now. How is this possible?
It's the same one. We painted it in Denmark last summer. There is a video.. 😁
Haha, lol. You 2 are so creative.😂
that beach looks perfect
We thought so too!
