easily my favourite part about this song is that without having seen the cover art for the song, when i heard it, my first thought was "i can so see rose and kanaya dancing to this song", then i looked at the cover art and completely freaked out, i felt like some kind of psychic
I kinda imagined an AU where Rose was the princess of Derse and Kanaya dressed as a man to assassinate her (she was an assassin hired by Doc Scratch). The reason because she was going to marry John the Prince of Prospit and unite the two kingdoms. The whole ball in which this takes place was a celebration for the announcement of their marriage. Kanaya slips in and allows John and Rose to dance a bit. Then people start to slowly come in and Kanaya asks for a dance. They start dancing slowly at first but then it gets gradually faster. Kanaya gets to know the princess as they dance wildly with the spins, dips and turns. Once it gets to the violin solo they break, Rose leaves to the terrace and Kanaya follows her. But she starts to have seconds thoughts 'cause she was falling for her as they danced. Rose says she knew all along that Kanaya was planning on killing her and left herself open for that reason; she wants to die. Then fluffy stuff happens like "Oh you're an idiot for wanting to die!" and "well you were going to kill me anyways!" cue reveal of the reason Rose wants to die. Kanaya kisses Rose and then Kanaya pushes her away. She tells Rose that she's actually a woman. Rose tells her she doesn't care and that they should run away. Kanaya kind of protests saying "oh you have a Kingdom to run and a fiancee and great things a head of you!" Rose says she hates responsibility, she only thinks of John as a brother (the feelings are mutual), and that she has other siblings to take care of making heirs. So they run away and live happily in a cottage in the woods! The End! I've thought about this a bit too much.
+artisticProtector I'm aware that Kanaya is a prospit dreamer, but she's an assassin in this AU and scratch hired her to kill Rose. Scratch wants to keep Prospit and Derse at war so that he could play them to his advantage. But technically if I'm following my story correctly, Rose and Kanaya doom their countries either way. So I guess the Doc played his cards pretty well since Rose DIDN'T marry John in the end and didn't unite both kingdoms.
Dude totally same. I was thinking more like they were bored on the meteor and found a dream bubble where a party was happening and just spent the time they had going through that bubble dancing. Maybe turning into something a little more.....something like that.

i believe the point is that rose is not a troll and is not biologically compatible, not that they are both girls kanaya could produce genetic material that could then be processed to create offspring by mating with rose, but rose would not produce trollish genetic material pretty sure paradox cloning likewise doesn't make crossbreeds, though roxy managed some wacky shit with cats so who knows

I feel jarred whenever it loops because the violin part playing at 3:18 gets cut off one note short of finishing a phrase. I agree that 3:24 is the right spot to loop it, but I feel like it needs to happen on top of the last note rather than replacing it.
