What’s brilliant about Rhiannon Giddens is that you can go on RUclips and you can search and find her singing a lovely French song with guitar in French and then find her singing Celtic mouth music and then find her singing playing an instrument, writing a musical…. We have a genius talent here❤
I could not love this group of amazing Southern musicians, archivists and performers more than I do now. Fantastic! Every release is a rare gem and covering Blu Cantrell?! Yeah. Rhiannon's voice is unparalleled.
I discovered them in Brussels a while ago and even bought their CD, which is regularly played in my car (YES, I am THAT old). And honestly, each time I hear them sing/play, I feel rejuvenated
@@katevalentine7075 I don't necessarily disagree, I'm just being an uber-nerd. I'd say this is more old-time string band meets R&B meets hip hop since the Carolina Chocolate Drops are a modern interpretation of an African-American string band. Yes, I am a musician and I play bluegrass. I love the Carolina Chocolate Drops and I think they'd be the first to tell you they're not a bluegrass band.
this song first played on the radio in asheville two years ago on an NPR station that (thankfully) doesn't subscribe to the idea of "heavy rotation." and they still play it, and it still kicks serious fucking ass.
That's Right Y'all "OMG" !!! The Carolina Chocolate Drops are TRULY AWESOME !!! What makes it even better is that their Beautiful Souls Share This Great Love With All Who Behold Them !!! As for myself my Heart is Still Leaping With JOY over hearing & meeting Them after Their Incredible Concert here in Atlanta, GA !!!
Couldn´t sit still to this even if you gave me a million Dollar... :D Absolutely no idea why ANYONE could dislike, let alone 35. Even if one wouldn´t like that kind of music, they could (and should) at least acknowledge the musical talent, creativity, and passion displayed here.
I saw them do this live at a festival and got to meet/hangout with the band for a little bit while they were eating after the show. They were amazing people. Especially Dom. Super nice to me. He signed a vinyl lp for me, ran up and got the other two members to sign it cause I asked after they had walked off. Then just chatted with me about roots music for a little while. Was definitely awesome. Great band. Loved this lineup.
It's been quite a while since a musical act caught my attention and made me stop what I was doing, but last night I saw "Another Day, Another Time," and Rhiannon Giddens' performance took my breath away. Such a powerful voice. I immediately had to find out who she was. What an incredible sound! I've been checking out various videos of the Carolina Chocolate Drops ever since. Their rendition of "Hit 'Em Up Style" is awesome. Also check out the 2008 WDVX Blue Plate Special version uploaded in May 2008.
Absolutely and utterly Legendary Singer and her music is so beautiful and gorgeous and her band are always there and amazing too. Please 🙏 stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤
With all the junk passing for "Music"" these days this group is a breath of fresh air. Amazing talent...vocal, percussion, instrumental and above all originality and Heart !
That's the most grooving, dynamic, and best-sounding "kick drum" ever for rock, and it doesn't look like anyone visible on stage is doing it. John Bonham risen from the dead?
It's hard not to use expletives when describing just how awesome this is. F*CK! This is the best f*cking thing EVER! Saw them on 11/11/11 and I can assure you, the viewer, that they are worth every penny you pay to see them. DO IT!!!
WNCW-FM (asheville NPR affiliate) plays this song every chance they get, which is in no way depressing. one more reason why i re-up my membership every year. what an amazing voice.
This is a woman who’s good at what she does, and SHE KNOWS IT! Been following her for years, she’s mighty!!!
Saw them in Anchorage in 2009, was blown away when they played this live
I can't get over her voice.
+Jun じ .. shes also gorgeous
There is an basic flaw here. What kind of danged fool would cheat on Rhiannon Giddens?
@@kenduque Billy Joel left Christy Brinkley...go figure.
The single greatest voice in music today
Operatically trained.

Groovy and jazzy rhiannons voice on traditionnal music = great result 😍😍
I love everything about this! Her voice, the beat, everything.
The beat is a human beat box.

Hip hop meets R&B meets bluegrass? Yes, please.
No hi hop at all. Fortunately
@@TheStonedstone ?
@@TheStonedstone not bluegrass either
For those that disagreed with this comment ..you arent musicians
This is indeed what Brad Hampton said it was :)

One of the all time best sets at Rocky Grass a few years back. They had the whole crowd on our feet in no time.

THE GUY DOING BEATBOX IS FANTASTIC HER VOICE AND THE BANJO PLAYER WOW GREAT GROUP
I feel so lucky to have seen them in Massachusetts. She is outrageously beautiful
Blu Cantrell's original is great in its own right, but this... this is mesmerizing. I could listen to this all day.
I completely agree with you! I love Blu Cantrells version but she kills it. Her fiddle playing is mind blowing along with her voice.

Oh, Man, this is wicked. Love it.

Great voice, great groove, great band!
I'm so stoked to have found her videos and now their group!
Not together, as you know by now.
Gonna be on repeat for about 20 times today.
Fabulous voice, fabulous rendition. This makes me proud that my mum's from the South.
How have I been sleeping on this.
You know you're listening to something amazing when you get the chills from it.
Finally an audience that appreciates their amazingness
Their outfits, music and Banjo takes us back in time, all we need is a Juke Joint in the back, brilliantly done! 🥳💜🌻
She is awesome, and that's an understatement.
Damn that is some talent! What a reconceptualizing of the original with a fiddle! What a voice!
One my very favorite groups to ever listen to! Love them!
just heard this on the local radio station in Anchorage Alaska at 1:30am
what a talent she is! wow
these guys kick so much ass it's ridiculous.

This reaches right back to the dusty old barn at dusk lit by oil lamps and is the very definition of EVOKE.
Gawd this woman can sing.
