I found a big bunch of Herricum Corallides ‘probably spelt that wrong’ here in Central Maine. Cooked some of it up and it was so delicious I couldn’t stop eating them. Definitely over did it for first time trying this mushroom...
Also first time ever picking a wild mushroom and actually ate it. I was very positive on the identification, hence there being no look alike. The patch I found was easy 5 too 6 pound specimen. 6 foot log about completely colonized, with fruiting spots all over. Some small fruits some past due and some very beautiful white ones that where perfect for eating. Also gave some of them to an outdoors survival place that’s right down the road from me.
man!! this video made me so happy! i'm stuck at home in quarantine in the city, but there's nothing i love more than just hiking out in the woods, so this video was so oddly relaxing... i hope one day i can go look for mushrooms too! thanks for this video
glad you liked it!! im sure being stuck in the city is tough, but often there are some good spots to go look for mushrooms and do some "urban foraging". Either way, happy you liked the video :)
Can u do some videos on practical tips on growing mushrooms Like some of the most valueable lessons u've learnt from experience Maybe some contamination prevention tips , which mushrooms or substrates you recommend to begginers, things u wished u knew when u started growing mushroom, etc Anything begginers like me would find helpful😀 Great vid Cheers from india
Oh no. That's awful. All the habitat destruction that happens these days is unreal. That happened to one of my turkey tail spots. It's a really good idea to learn how to grow mushrooms on their organic substrates. That's what I started doing a now nobody can take my spots. It's a shame you couldn't snag a log or two if they were cutting.
so true! I was a little bummed at first from the rain, but determined to make this video either way lol. Also- rain is good for mushrooms so BRING IT ON!!!
Great that you found what you were looking for. I am new to the world of fungi. I quit eating animals in Feb. Do you have a suggestion for "meaty" textured mushrooms ? I eat portabellas all the time & thought I might try to grow something more exotic.
Lion's Mane is actually great for this!! We have a great recipe for tacos if you are interested (it is one of the videos on the channel) it is all mushrooms but they taste and feel like meat :)
@@FreshCapMushrooms just took the kids down to the river and with in 50 steps found a nice size coral tooth and then one about the size of cantaloupe 10 feet down. Nature is awesome 👌

What a cool hobby. I've always wondered what to look for to find wild Lion's Mane. Great video! Is it dangerous to touch indelible/poisonous mushrooms without washing hands after?
it is certainly a fun hobby! In general, no it is not dangerous to handle wild mushrooms even if you don't know what they are. For the poisonous ones (and there are plenty) they are only dangerous if ingested. of course there are other things that you might be worried about (stinging nettle etc. that you could brush up against) but for mushrooms there is no need to worry.
@@FreshCapMushrooms Good to know. Thanks for the reply! Btw I followed your PF Tek video to a T and fruited a very successful batch of "Elm Oysters". Cheers for the quality content. For those wondering: ruclips.net/video/D4jUTIv0XfY/видео.html
What book was that with the mushrooms? Also I'm located in Manitoba do you know of any Manitoba mushroom groups that would be worth a follow or Canadian ones on Facebook
Hi, I've been trying low tech oysters on straw but before it can colonise I get ink caps taking over, presumably the spores are already in the straw. Is there any way to kill the ink spores before I use the straw? Preferably not by boiling because I don't have anything large enough to do this, but if it's the only way...
My question is. if I buy lion's mane powder what is it supposed to taste like. I feel like when I've been buying cheap versions and it tastes like coffee mixed with Coco and I feel scammed
Bought some Lions Mane (Hericium erinaceus) from PipingRock.. Are they the real deal? I want to stack them with psilocybin and niacin to treat my depression, regenerate brain structures.. Thanks.
@@opedromagico hello, did you make the mushroom mixture? I would also like to do them I recommend that you start only with lion's mane, mucuna pruriens and 5-htp because using psilocybe without professional supervision can be risky in my case I took ayahuasca and my depression increased instead of decreasing

Tony can you do a video about cloning wild specimens to agar, how to clean up, identification, etc.?
yes for sure! I actually have one from a couple years ago, but I should probably do another one...
Can’t be surprised you found em while wearing your lucky lions mane shirt, Tony!
Right?! First time wearing it too, so I think it's a good luck charm!!
What a find! Such a beautiful mushroom, and I love that you put the tasty tidbit at the end :) Yum!
it was small but TASTY haha, had to do it

Let's not forget to mention they often grow on Oak logs. They love Oaks. I found 3 nice sized clusters nearby my house last fall, on a living tree.
My best spot was just turned into a mini drive in theater.😱😡😭

I love how you show the forest. I can't wait until the next time that I visit Canada and go for a hunt.
Any medicinal difference between Hericium americanum and lions mane or are they the same?

thank you so mush for being here, and for watching the videos! many more to come :)
Nice forest, I've tried Lion's mane and it tastes delicious 😋. Yesterday I found Stinkhorns and not a pleasant smell for sure.
I found a lions mane today about the size of a cantaloupe. It’s mid winter in South Georgia. It is growing on a live oak tree.
I’d be tempted to take the whole log.
Thanks for the video!

If I make tincture from coralloides - its gonna be the same benefits like from erinaceus?
hey Tony, what did you study? Biology or something similar?
What identification book were you using at the 5:30 mark? I'm in BC and looking for a good one?
I was wondering how your money back guarantee works? I bought your electric on Amazon and I'm done with the bag and it did nothing

Lifecykel's "Lion's mane" Supplement is actually made with the coral tooth fungus and not the Lion's mane. I wonder about the chemical differences.
it it unknown on whether or not H. coralloides or H. americanum contain erinacines. They would contain hericinones, though.
Dude where did you get that lions mane t-shirt??!
What was that book you used for identification?
I couldnt find any so I grew them.

It's called "edible mushrooms of alberta" :)

That is awesome to know!! I did actually see a ton of russulas, just didn't put them in the video.

This is called Wild Edible Mushrooms Of Alberta by Tom Cervenka
