- Aims and Objectives for Masters Dissertations. How to write a good aim statement and create objectives for a Masters Dissertation. Will also apply to final year projects.

hello sir, the video was so clear and informative. thank you! although I had a doubt, should I write my objectives in a paragraph or in points and how many words should be the objective in a 12000 word dissertation?

I have a question how what are the possible objectives fof this topic: to what extant students are aware of the accadrmic integrity?
That sound more like a research question than a title. However, to answer it you would have to display knowledge of student population, academia, assessment, and integrity. These four topics might be the start of writing objectives.
pls sir, explain how I need to float my aims on the 2nd page of my work and still be able to achieve a voluminous introduction.

Do we use "I" in the research because it looks informal?
As a rule no. Exceptions might be relating the research to your career, experience, ambitions, and course. Second exception if there is a requirement to personally reflect on the experience of writing.

It may be better to limit the objectives to 'research objectives' rather than 'dissertation objectives'. Research objectives focus specifically on the problem being investigation rather than on dissertation chapters. The research objectives (rather than dissertation objectives) will rarely be more than five. I find dissertation objectives (e.g. To collect data, To recommend, To review literature etc) not necessary as most dissertations have to do this anyway.
Good point. I am assuming the objectives are "to write a dissertation" which includes the research element.

My background is Urban and Regional Planning. But apparently my understanding almost completely differs from ur submission Sir! The aim should NOT be more than one compound sentence. E.g. The aim of this project/thesis is to ......., with a view to .......
Moreso, for a master's thesis, 4-5 objectives are enough to handle everything there. I can't imagine any situation that will require up to 9 objectives for Masters!!!
For things like conclusion and recommendation, that shouldn't be objectives pls! Bcos, generally these are necessary in any project. So, no need to mention them as objectives
I always suggest that you follow guidance from your institution and personal supervisor on these matters. For my teaching, I think it helps if the aim statement is a little longer. The same for the number of objectives. It makes sure that the students know that they have to include these topics in their dissertation. It sounds like you have good advice, great knowledge and first class support from your institution.
