Nice job with the entire video series! I have three suggestions for making electrical connections: First, when splicing electrical wires, if you're not going to use a dedicated "tap," it's a good idea to solder the wires for a better connection. Second, it's always a good idea to tap the wires in a staggered position, so that even if the electrical tape falls off, the wires can't easily short out against each other. Finally, I like to individually wrap each wire (like you did) with the electrical tape and then add another length of electrical tape wrapped around all of the individual wraps (creating a protected "loom"), as an added measure to keep them in place. One last suggestion for routing the wire from the rear of the car to the front: I noticed that you left a short section of the wire exposed within the trunk, when you could have tucked it behind the trunk liner in a way that would have protected it from other objects in the trunk. I will plan to run the wire completely behind the trunk trim when I do the same job over the weekend. Again, very nice tutorial - thanks for posting it!
A friendly word of advice from a fellow 300C owner... solder your connections! None of this 'twist, tie and tape' stuff. It literally takes 5 seconds to do! *ex-installer and car audio workshop manager. Btw, keep up the good work.
Do the finger controls still work with this radio? I have a 300 srt8 that I want to upgrade the 6 disk changer in so I can have a little more technology lol
I know its been a year but is this unit still available I have a 2007 touring and was looking for a clean install like that if it is what is the link to website to purchase
Head unit bought at www.elementotuning.com
