    I’ve owned trucks for over 47 years & the tail gate wasn’t a problem, what I took issue with is some commented on how they have Steps now in the gate, well after working construction for 45 years and had back surgery at age 60 & still have back pain I won’t buy a truck that doesn’t have a Step & fords is the best. I’m 64 and at least I can climb into & out of the bed of my truck. So don’t knock it because one day you might need that step yourself!!!

    I've installed several of these Ford oem tailgate dampener. You do not need to unplug the harness to the camera and remove the tailgate to install. Place a coating of towels or blanket on top of the bumper making sure the right side is well cushioned to prevent damage to tailgate or bumper. Leave the left tailgate strap attached, raise the gate from the right hinge and lay it on the cushioned bumper leaving the left side of the tailgate attached to it's hinge. You will need to pull the right corner of the tailgate rearward about 3 inches to perform the rest of the install. As said done this numerous times with zero damage.

      Jeez, what did Dee Zee do to you in a past life. Folks have been installing that strut for many years, probably far more on the road than the OEM. Both the OEM and Dee work very well, but if you have ever lived with both, you would understand. The 2 trucks I installed the OEM, was also happy with it, just preferred the Dee. If you care about what the inner jam of your tailgate looks like, well I can't help yea there.

    I’m not a truck guy so this probably isn’t my place...but i don’t understand why people are so against trucks having technology? No it’s not hard to hold the tail gate but what’s wrong with this? Same with lifts and drops. Most people who lift they truck never take it off pavement, so why so hard against people who lower them? Idk I know that was off topic but can someone explain why y’all so hard on each other?

    I ordered one just like this, it didn’t work. I contacted them and they sent me another one and it didn’t work either. These were $43.00 from Amazon. I then ordered a Dee Zee one for $22.00 and it works perfect. Even this one that this guy just installed still slams a bit.

      Careful with the DeeZee. I went through 6 of them on previous trucks. All failed at the ball or nutsert mount.

    I agree with a lot of the comments, there is way to much crap for "ease of use" and "luxury". For me, less is best. However, most of these little ideas come from consumer ideas/requests. I can underatand if its on a Lincoln truck or a cadilac truck but not on an ford, chevy or dodge.....jmo

    Why are tailgates these days trending into the creature comforts area? This was never an issue before. Now they have steps, handles, soft drops, multi style opens. I feel like auto manufacturers are just over complicating it to convince you that you need these cushy features. It's a drop gate people. The best creature comforts should be a single center handle verses two side buckles and catch cables. That's all it needs.

    • @bobbybologna3029

      Well the steps just simply make sense in general, nobody is impressed by someone declaring they don't need a step, just cringe.

    • @Floordford
      @Floordford 5 лет назад

      @@bobbybologna3029 it's an over complication. The back bumper is the step if you need to get back there.
