    I'm a 65 yr old man,this guy made my childhood and youth so exciting .Just seeing him brings me to tears.Ive never really figured out what it is about him that moves me so.He was a gift to the World.

      I am up there in years as well, which i must say how he moves me as well! All I can figure out for the reason is, how real he is! How we know the following about him in the back of our minds,,,, How down to earth he is! How he always has the time for any and all the people around him! How he gives so much in money and time to charities and all kids from every walk of life! How he is devoted to his faith, and lives in a manner to be a role model. Where he also preaches to be a better member of your community, starting with education for the youth! How he opened his training camp and his life to all his fans! Which he has fans all around the world, unlike any other person on Earth! Everything he does world wide was to give back to the world! Truly The Peoples Champ worldwide! A showman in the ring, as well as a humble, humorous and hilarious TV personality! The man kept fighting ,not only to become 3 time champ,, but to use his title to do more for the world! A TRUE humanitarian! A limited educated man who was wise beyond his time! Who also taken time to speak at colleges, and also talk peace to world leaders! The list can go on and on about this man!! And I can tell you from living it, knowing this about him,, makes me all emotional listening to him myself! I tried to even reach out to a young lady who stated that she was his daughter! She is on Facebook! In learning more about him, I read a story in which he had a daughter named Sistar Kiiursti Mensah-Ali, where she stated that her wish was to see Ali once more before he passed. She also wanted him to walk her down the isle! But there was no story follow up. I messaged her to ask if she got her wish because it would had been nice to know that she did. But the reply was odd, and then she never answered my question. So, I was left empty there! But anyway, I went off track! But,, I hope I gave you reason as to why you feel the same as I do whenever I see The Greatest Of All Time!

      He started to go down hill after the Frazier fight in 1975. Some people the signs were there earlier. I wish he would have retired after the Foreman fight in 1974. It was also shame they didn't reduce bouts from 15 rounds to 12 rounds until Ali was retired in 1982.

    • @albertelazar4069
      @albertelazar4069 9 месяцев назад

      He should have especially retired in 1974 right after beating George Foreman, in which that brutal 3rd fight against Joe Frazier would never have happened, which he said himself "was the closest he felt to dying in the ring in his career".
      In my opinion, that the 3rd fight with Joe Frazier in 1975, further contributed to his Parkinson's syndrome diagnosis!

    • @sleazyfellow
      @sleazyfellow 8 месяцев назад

      Besides the Frazier fights and of course the ones near the end, the dude would spar and purposely get tagged as a way to "toughen up". As bad as those head shots can be he let himself be pummeled to the body that a majority of boxers would of went down.

    Notice how his speech was starting to slur and slow down. Still The Greatest of ALL TIME!

  • @ritchski1
    @ritchski1 8 лет назад +27

    this was beyond the first signs of Parkinson's, he was slurring a few years before and even said himself that he noticed his speech changing in 74. Remarkable he fought as long as he did, even though he should not have. I like this interview as it shows Ali still has his quick mind even though he is suffering the early onset.

    • @3912James
      @3912James 8 лет назад +9

      Around 1976 or 1977...that's when I began to notice his voice becoming softer (if anyone noticed...he began to shout less and less as we got into the late 1970s and into the 1980s...it was all downhill from there)...and he began to slur. He definitely SHOULD have hung them up after "Thrilla In Manilla."
      Then again....he lost his prime years from 1967 to 1970 when he was stripped of his boxing license because he refused to fight in Vietnam. When he was able to resume his boxing career he lost his speed and took more hits to the head (although his punches were still lightning quick).

    • @MegaJosbos

      do you have an article or youtubelink were he says his speech chanced since '74?

    • @ritchski1
      @ritchski1 8 лет назад +7

      Read it in Muhammad Ali: His Life and Times Book by Thomas Hauser. From what I remember it was at the end of the book that covered his illness. Cant remember exactly but somewhere Ali said he noticed minor slurring around 74 when a doctor asked him in the 80s.

    • @lwj24
      @lwj24 8 лет назад +2

      +James Johnson I also noticed in the late 70s in addiction to his slurred speech and softer voice, that his reaction time and movements slowed a bit. For example, when he'd put his hand up to his face, or wave his hand, etc. Also, during an interview for his fight with Holmes, when he said he'd be the first 4 time champion; but he put up the wrong number with his fingers.

    Him being surprised with the footage they had of him lets you know he was out of it. Him laughing while they played it back was him laughing at himself being at the point he was as healthy as he was. It's like a sad laugh that he was that healthy compared to how he was during the interview. He found the light in the dark. He made the positive out of the negatives he was going through. He was really on the "if I knew then what I know now" stage. Smh it's so sad. After he watched it he showed so much energy. It was like it gave him new breath just to speak about it.

    I actually loved Muhammad Ali. I’ve lost aquaintances, people I know, and best friends. One just on 28,12,21, three days ago. My best friend. And I feel now the same way I felt when Ali passed. Just tragedy.

    Also 65 and feel the same. In middle school I was the only one thought he could beat foreman. I wasn't sure how but I believed he would find a way. If you remember Foreman was terrifying, couldn't keep sparing partners because he broke ribs and broke arms with his power. Wasn't this sweet guy selling grills he became later but one scary dude. Ali Frazier thrilla in manilla is the greatest fight I've ever seen. Two guys with the heart of a lion. First time Ali said he feared he might die in a fight but finally decided mid fight if I die here tonight, I die cause I ain't quitting

    Ali said Shavers, Frazier and Foreman were the hardest hitters he's ever faced; so nice learning that Sonny Liston scared him the most.

    • @kingtyomama6564
      @kingtyomama6564 4 года назад +3

      well Liston rarely hit Ali. Plus he was old and past his prime when he took the two dives against Ali. He made no effort in the first fight, then fell over like a fake ass Mafia puppet he was. Remember yes Liston terrorized Patterson twice but Patterson was puffed up and only weighed 184, which doesnt really make him more than a Light Heavyweight, not even a cruiserweight....

    I love this man.
    He was relatively lucid here, he really deteriorated over the next two years - by 1982 he was sadly bloated and very shaky, it seems like the Holmes fight & the pre-bout thyroid injections that seemed to accelerate his illness. His 1981 interviews show a big change from '79 and I've seen some in 1984 where he was in really bad shape.
    Would people agree it was 1980-81 where he went downhill quickest?
