I'm a 65 yr old man, this guy made my childhood and youth so exciting .Just seeing him brings me to tears.Ive never really figured out what it is about him that moves me so.He was a gift to the World.
I am up there in years as well, which i must say how he moves me as well! All I can figure out for the reason is, how real he is! How we know the following about him in the back of our minds,,,, How down to earth he is! How he always has the time for any and all the people around him! How he gives so much in money and time to charities and all kids from every walk of life! How he is devoted to his faith, and lives in a manner to be a role model. Where he also preaches to be a better member of your community, starting with education for the youth! How he opened his training camp and his life to all his fans! Which he has fans all around the world, unlike any other person on Earth! Everything he does world wide was to give back to the world! Truly The Peoples Champ worldwide! A showman in the ring, as well as a humble, humorous and hilarious TV personality! The man kept fighting ,not only to become 3 time champ,, but to use his title to do more for the world! A TRUE humanitarian! A limited educated man who was wise beyond his time! Who also taken time to speak at colleges, and also talk peace to world leaders! The list can go on and on about this man!! And I can tell you from living it, knowing this about him,, makes me all emotional listening to him myself! I tried to even reach out to a young lady who stated that she was his daughter! She is on Facebook! In learning more about him, I read a story in which he had a daughter named Sistar Kiiursti Mensah-Ali, where she stated that her wish was to see Ali once more before he passed. She also wanted him to walk her down the isle! But there was no story follow up. I messaged her to ask if she got her wish because it would had been nice to know that she did. But the reply was odd, and then she never answered my question. So, I was left empty there! But anyway, I went off track! But,, I hope I gave you reason as to why you feel the same as I do whenever I see The Greatest Of All Time!
yes im 66 and loved him as a little girl....his training camp outside reading pa..is only an hour away from me...and free.... yes free.... im going soon.... and just to walk the road where he jogged.... man..... ...
This man is one of the greatest human beings ever to walk this earth. All of us should be glad that we shared this world at the same time that Muhammad Ali was alive. There will never, ever be anyone remotely like this amazing man. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
lol me too it's like getting to see the greatest life in motions... funny how he outlived most of the people in his era ...I was surprised to know Oscar Murdered in 76! six years after he fought with Ali. show me more videos
Ali truly was a great man To me He’s the greatest Man of the century. I was a child in the 70s and didn’t realize the greatness I was watching and that there was no one like him before. And I realize now that there was no one since Hopefully someone will step up to become the human being he was The world needs him or someone like him desperately now.
You can see that he had started speaking slow and was not very clear as compared to him speaking earlier shown him during his fight with henry cooper.Very brave of him to continue in this condition. Truly Greatest.
He started to go down hill after the Frazier fight in 1975. Some people the signs were there earlier. I wish he would have retired after the Foreman fight in 1974. It was also shame they didn't reduce bouts from 15 rounds to 12 rounds until Ali was retired in 1982.
I respect him so much. He just so honest, even if it wasn't in his favor. Never made excuses. Gave other fighters their props!!!!!! ONCE IN A LIFETIME MAN!!!!!!
I am Mohammad Ali and always be free but what you going to do without me. I know you will miss me and I will to but I am in heaven and one day you will join too.I still fly like a buttetfly and sting like a bee you keep watching my fights now as I always will be your favourite Mohammad Ali.
He should have especially retired in 1974 right after beating George Foreman, in which that brutal 3rd fight against Joe Frazier would never have happened, which he said himself "was the closest he felt to dying in the ring in his career". In my opinion, that the 3rd fight with Joe Frazier in 1975, further contributed to his Parkinson's syndrome diagnosis!
Besides the Frazier fights and of course the ones near the end, the dude would spar and purposely get tagged as a way to "toughen up". As bad as those head shots can be he let himself be pummeled to the body that a majority of boxers would of went down.
What a personality! Mohammad Ali you are great of all time! I love every bit of his utterance and the way he express himself. My God Rest Your soul in Peace Muhammad Ali you will be remembered for ever.
wonderful interview of the greatest fighters of all times, i feel so sorry for him when i see being brutally hit by Holmes in his last fight, he was never there, it was criminal to put him in, but we cant help it he was Aaali, the fighter, you will never die Mohammed..
Absolute GEM of an interview....! Enthralling! Ali, talking candidly as a professional, with tremendous insight...spiritual, motivational...just so different! Thanks for this!
Didn't the Invaders of New Zealand exterminate every indigenous person on the island? What's the original name of New Zealand? New Zealand is where they grow all the medical grade heroin / morphine for the world.
Im so grateful and fortunate to have grown up in a time where Ali was huge in America and you will never see the likes of this great athlete again NO WAY EVER , SIMPLY THE GREATEST EVER
man i so remember this interview,it was on a weekend when normally we'd be outside terrorizing the neighborhood with all the other kids, came back inside to grab a drink they said Ali was coming on and we sat enthralled by the man for near on two hours, mum reckoned she'd never seen us so quiet.
Me too ....was 14 .. remember it so well .they cancelled sport that saturday on tv (we only had 2channels ) ... so glad to watch it again .... bob jones was a great person for the interview too .. and sosad to see alis speech getting slow here ... great man ...
It always amazing me that people take the time to upload these once lost classics for others! Amazing footage, thanks to people like Bill Ali will never truely be dead but will leave on for generations! Thanks for loading this, its a real amazing interview, I thought I had seen most of his interviews but Ive just come across a gem here.
The Champ was always excellent during interviews. The interviewers were great as well.Asked great questions & they were very engaging. Thanks for this presentation
I just love how beautifully Mohammed Ali described his beliefs of Islam. He didn't care about the racist losers, haters or publicity loss. He believed in Allah and Allah made him a legend forever.
Mohamed Ali.Your name will live on forever and ever until the end of time.As long as this world 🌎 last your name will live on.You are the greatest of all times. There will not be another Mohammed Ali. Maybe in the next world 🌎.And it's going to be you. God bless you 🙏 And God loves you.
Ali was my/is my hero, he brought so much to so many people both in and out of the ring. When Ali passed, the world felt alittle emptier. I miss this man. R.I.P. champ.
You can tell Ali wasn’t himself he was deteriorating at a fast pace . I watched most of his earlier year interviews , he would be more indulging and would talk and react faster but as you can see he is just going thorough the phase . Muhammad Ali the greatest 🥊❤️❤️❤️
I remember watching this back in 1979, on a Sunday afternoon I believe. I recorded it on VHS, but have since lost the tape. I had always wanted to see it again, so thanks for uploading.
There can never be anyone of his class, not just in boxing but you name it, anything. What a man! Shook up the world in anything he touched. Thanks Ali, we needed you. You were our SUPERHERO.
Cant think of any modern day boxer who fought as many times in quick succession as Ali, I've never seen this thanks for taking the time out and uploading it
M Ali ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊handsome gorgeous man the greatest fighter no boxer can match M Ali. Well said M Ali..❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤you beat all the boxers as stated , cooper the boxer I know so well as we watched him in the year of that fight with the gyms in south east London England 😊
this was beyond the first signs of Parkinson's, he was slurring a few years before and even said himself that he noticed his speech changing in 74. Remarkable he fought as long as he did, even though he should not have. I like this interview as it shows Ali still has his quick mind even though he is suffering the early onset.
Around 1976 or 1977...that's when I began to notice his voice becoming softer (if anyone noticed...he began to shout less and less as we got into the late 1970s and into the 1980s...it was all downhill from there)...and he began to slur. He definitely SHOULD have hung them up after "Thrilla In Manilla." Then again....he lost his prime years from 1967 to 1970 when he was stripped of his boxing license because he refused to fight in Vietnam. When he was able to resume his boxing career he lost his speed and took more hits to the head (although his punches were still lightning quick).
Read it in Muhammad Ali: His Life and Times Book by Thomas Hauser. From what I remember it was at the end of the book that covered his illness. Cant remember exactly but somewhere Ali said he noticed minor slurring around 74 when a doctor asked him in the 80s.
+James Johnson I also noticed in the late 70s in addiction to his slurred speech and softer voice, that his reaction time and movements slowed a bit. For example, when he'd put his hand up to his face, or wave his hand, etc. Also, during an interview for his fight with Holmes, when he said he'd be the first 4 time champion; but he put up the wrong number with his fingers.
The greatest ... Ali! He is about 37 here. You could see the early stages of his health decline but he is still brilliant. Love you Muhammad. I so wish he would have retired after Frazier II.
Unquestionably the greatest sportsman of all time- He is in great shape here February 1979 retired cognitive healthy after all the wars with Liston Frazier Foreman Norton Shavers - He fought Larry Holmes in October 1980 20 months later- we know he was affected pre fight losing weight quickly debilitated through a substance but the fight was disastrous - he talks about Holmes 1-02 in this interview seeing him as his apprentice- The Parkinson illness seemed to really set in pre Holmes fight in 1980 pre fight slurring but here he is 💯- Huge Respect To Muhammad Ali
Thank you so much for uploading this. Ali I love you. Rest and float like a butterfly in heaven. You were truly great you stood your ground and stood up to hate. You took on the government and won. What fate. I didn't see u in your prime I was born to late. But if I could go back in time and meet you I wouldn't hesitate. I wish I would of met you and been your friend. But maybe you'll meet at the gate when I meet my end. Thank u for all u stood for and all u have done. You were a master of words and second to none. Muhammad Ali You are the greatest and with that said I'm done. This was a tribute from me to you and now I promise with these words I'm through. RIP Champ your the best.
I love the fact that he wascbeing upfront and honest about his opponents and giving them props for their boxing abilities...boxing is no joke....alot of hard work/training and they all deserve props granted some a bit more than others however all there hard work and determination as well as dedication....I applaud ALL OF YOU....
He started showing symptoms around the third Norton fight in 1976, or maybe even before. Dr. Ferdie Pacheco, Ali's Dr., said that was the night Ali stopped being the great Ali.
Him being surprised with the footage they had of him lets you know he was out of it. Him laughing while they played it back was him laughing at himself being at the point he was as healthy as he was. It's like a sad laugh that he was that healthy compared to how he was during the interview. He found the light in the dark. He made the positive out of the negatives he was going through. He was really on the "if I knew then what I know now" stage. Smh it's so sad. After he watched it he showed so much energy. It was like it gave him new breath just to speak about it.
I love how Ali says look at Holmes his ugly look at him he can't never be like me intelligent handsome pretty:) love you Ali you are the greatest till this day 2017 September Russia respect the best of the best
I actually loved Muhammad Ali. I’ve lost aquaintances, people I know, and best friends. One just on 28,12,21, three days ago. My best friend. And I feel now the same way I felt when Ali passed. Just tragedy.
Also 65 and feel the same. In middle school I was the only one thought he could beat foreman. I wasn't sure how but I believed he would find a way. If you remember Foreman was terrifying, couldn't keep sparing partners because he broke ribs and broke arms with his power. Wasn't this sweet guy selling grills he became later but one scary dude. Ali Frazier thrilla in manilla is the greatest fight I've ever seen. Two guys with the heart of a lion. First time Ali said he feared he might die in a fight but finally decided mid fight if I die here tonight, I die cause I ain't quitting
well Liston rarely hit Ali. Plus he was old and past his prime when he took the two dives against Ali. He made no effort in the first fight, then fell over like a fake ass Mafia puppet he was. Remember yes Liston terrorized Patterson twice but Patterson was puffed up and only weighed 184, which doesnt really make him more than a Light Heavyweight, not even a cruiserweight....
@@kingtyomama6564 liston hurt ali in 3rd and 4 th round thrn he blinded him and hurt him again in start of rd 5 th he made full effort but yes in 2nd fight he fell dowm and threw the fight not making efforts
I love this man. He was relatively lucid here, he really deteriorated over the next two years - by 1982 he was sadly bloated and very shaky, it seems like the Holmes fight & the pre-bout thyroid injections that seemed to accelerate his illness. His 1981 interviews show a big change from '79 and I've seen some in 1984 where he was in really bad shape. Would people agree it was 1980-81 where he went downhill quickest?
In the late 70s Muhammad Ali really started showing signs of Parkinson's disease. Even with that disease he is still the most charismatic guy in the room.
Boxing is the last thing Ali should be remembered for , he was bigger than boxing , when i stepped in the ring with him in zaire Africa , His presence was bigger than anything i've seen before & anything ever since , his presence alone was enough - Big George Foreman ( A monster )
Subhanullah all praise to ullah..... again another man that took all his inspiration from Mohammed PBUH Ameen may the great man enjoy his final abode that he worked to achieve. May god rest his soul AMEEN.....
He is a very handsome man, great poet too,.... he is very intelligent but breaks my heart to hear about his Parkinsons.... so sad :( He was so cute, not a bad man really xxx )
The Larry Holmes clip he is a replica of Muhammed Ali!!!! Never realized he even stops and looks the opponent in the eye crouched down while swaying side to side and ready to bust out a punch so cool 😎 I love it!!!!!
Being the world heavyweight champion is one thing, being the world heavyweight champion and maintaining it [for as long as Ali did] is another. - Legend -
Such a special man . To think the USA has Trump for President now , imagine if Ali was the president . What a better place this world would be . Love the man and thanks for the upload Bill
If only death wouldn't exist! Ali is one of the greatest and brighest souls to pass through earth! I'm so happy and also sad watching this interviews! Sing mohammed .. mohammed ali he floats like a butterfly sting like a bee... ♥️♥️♥️🎷🎺🎤
This was 1979, obviously before his fights with Holmes and Berbick. It's an absolute disgrace people close to him allowed him to get in the ring with elite heavyweights.

First signs of Parkinson's here. Real shame his health deteriorated from here. God knows how he was allowed to fight another 2 fights after this
Yeah, you can hear his speech slowing down.
I can hear it.
adam matthews not the first signs by any means. 1976 showed earlier signs and was still evident.
Not the first he was showing a couple years before
He started showing symptoms around the third Norton fight in 1976, or maybe even before. Dr. Ferdie Pacheco, Ali's Dr., said that was the night Ali stopped being the great Ali.
Happy 80th Birthday to GOAT. Love from Hyderabad India. 17th January 2022. Respect.
Erik Erikk THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENT YOU SENT IT FROM RUSSIA APPARENTLY !!!
One of the best Ali's interviews. Thanks for sharing.
The Greatest of all times, the Champ, RIP Mohammad Ali.
I actually loved Muhammad Ali. I’ve lost aquaintances, people I know, and best friends. One just on 28,12,21, three days ago. My best friend. And I feel now the same way I felt when Ali passed. Just tragedy.
One of the biggest gift to the world god has ever gave, not millions, billions love Muhammad Ali
Awesome!!! Thank you for keeping this alive and available
Ali said Shavers, Frazier and Foreman were the hardest hitters he's ever faced; so nice learning that Sonny Liston scared him the most.
well Liston rarely hit Ali.
Would people agree it was 1980-81 where he went downhill quickest?
agree
@@tomerchaouat5943 It started in October 1975.
urgh hes still gone downhill sounds quiet and slow.
In the late 70s Muhammad Ali really started showing signs of Parkinson's disease. Even with that disease he is still the most charismatic guy in the room.
@Serkus Showed signs around 76-77!
Yeah they thought it was brain damage
Did he fight while he had Parkinson's
Thanks Captain Obvious
@@mstrunn October 1975.
Good interview. He clearly appreciated the knowledge and questions from Jones. Amazed the view count is low. A lot coming from Ali here.
"Mohammed Ali" he is great man!
Boxing is the last thing Ali should be remembered for , he was bigger than boxing , when i stepped in the ring with him in zaire Africa , His presence was bigger than anything i've seen before & anything ever since , his presence alone was enough - Big George Foreman ( A monster )
Thanks for uploading enjoyed watching.
Subhanullah all praise to ullah..... again another man that took all his inspiration from Mohammed PBUH Ameen may the great man enjoy his final abode that he worked to achieve. May god rest his soul AMEEN.....
Muhammad Ali was great may Allah mercy on him
He is a very handsome man, great poet too,.... he is very intelligent but breaks my heart to hear about his Parkinsons.... so sad :( He was so cute, not a bad man really xxx )
- Legend -
Ali was all ways respectful towards the British, it was the time of the gentleman and Ali definitely was a Gentleman
There is something quite nice about this interview.and that is calm conversation !but what is happening to this world?
& above all else this is an example of his dedication to the common man ... giving so much of himself to us all rahimahullahu.
Such a special man . To think the USA has Trump for President now , imagine if Ali was the president . What a better place this world would be . Love the man and thanks for the upload Bill
So u think usa is doin better under biden? Trump cares about his country, while so many of u wanna see it fall. From a Trump supporting kiwi.
@@hemanag1020 You are obviously a troll or simply delusional.
@@tonyyyyyo
No. He's obviously right.
And Trump did way more for Ali than Don King ever did.
If only death wouldn't exist! Ali is one of the greatest and brighest souls to pass through earth! I'm so happy and also sad watching this interviews! Sing mohammed .. mohammed ali he floats like a butterfly sting like a bee... ♥️♥️♥️🎷🎺🎤
i spoke to earnie shavers on the phone about his fight with ali, he said ali was hilarious during their fight
jeff mark Moline I doubt he was laughing in the last round.
@@classicsurvivor Yea, Shavers almost died in that last round lol
Classic man and interview. Like how he browsed magazine between questions
Song at the end was written by Sam Cooke.
no one in the world can beet ali in 1960s
"beat" to win, not "beet" to eat :-)
BEAT, not beet.
This was 1979, obviously before his fights with Holmes and Berbick. It's an absolute disgrace people close to him allowed him to get in the ring with elite heavyweights.
Elijah Muhammad taught him everything he knew. Never forget his teacher.
Ali at his best, the Greatest. Good memory.
Ali was very intelligent and a great fighter even though I wasn't alive he was boxing fighting from the beginning of his career through his prime
That was fantastic.
I just wish the sound had been boosted to a normal level.
It's about 20 dB down - at least.
R.i.p champ. You r the greatest and your name is Muhammed Ali.
