Do you know if this will protect from a surge from either end of the line? So the line up is Camera>Cable>MRJPOE>Cable>Switch Will it protect the camera both from a lightening strike or from an internal surge? Someone told me they thought these on protect one way, but I can't find anything to support or dispute that claim.
If you mean will it protect the switch it's connected too.....I'm not sure...I had gotten these to protect some outdoor wifi equipment that was 2000 each
@@KingWilliam I'm pretty sure that it's meant to protect the switch if the camera is hit by lightning. The question is really, will it protect the camera if there is a surge from the switch...
@@jaimetaylor-beadles4420 I don't remember on this one it's been a fee years since I used them. I would guess it would go one way. I'm thinking I was trying to protect the network switch when the access point got struck by lightening
Do these work well for lightning strikes?
It’s been in service for about 7 years now so it seems to be working as the camera it’s connected to gets struck a few times a year

@@KingWilliam that's what we were thinking but I can't find any supporting information. Thanks for your help!
Did you put this indoor or outdoor?
It's in an enclosure that is indoors powering a camera outside.
They are the sacrificial diodes for large surges
