You are so right to tell us to move even with the sharpest pain. I am 70 and was a bodybuilder before I broke my back in 1997 (L1 burst fracture) and at that time whenever I was in pain (after surgery with rods that I had removed 2 years afterward which they allowed because of my musculature), my Chiropractic husband would have me rest and lay down for like 2 to 3 days until the pain went away or until he could adjust me. Needless to say after learning about stretching and then finding you guys, I am moving better And have less pain than I have since the accident. Just love you guys! Already doing SMM and getting stronger and more flexible. Thank you so much for all you do!🥰

What do u feel about chriopractor adjustments? Is it not good to get them to often?

    • @deniserosner796

@@mom2blessings_sadie chiropractic adjustments are wonderful to get and unless they’re telling you to come every single day, no, you cannot get adjusted too often. Usually if you’ve been out of alignment for a long time, it does take several adjustments to remind the body where it supposed to be. The adjustments actually saved my life, but the resting in bed and not moving while on ice or heat was absolutely the wrong thing to do. And then that first day because I’m just laying there not moving and in so much pain, he couldn’t even adjust me because I would be screaming out. If I knew then what I know now, I would’ve gotten out of bed and done a little wiggle.

Good pain: CONSTANT, Dull achy sore tightness is just muscle without tendon / ligament / cartilage/ joint involvement. Put heat then message / stretch at least for a few seconds immediately after. I teach seated Stretches every 2 hours (performed 30 seconds at a time) until bedtime.
BAD PAIN : intermittent / very very brief sharp/ stabbing pain like um you bashed your knuckle / knee against a door, that might EVEN CAUSE you buckle / go "weak" momentarily. Frequent brief Cold applications if the actual injury is specifical and not too deep. Bottom line, allow to move that area whilst protecting by bracing, if possible not experiencing ANY SHARP PAIN if braced correctly.
NERVE pain: tingling, prickly (thorny/ shocky / electric zap), coldness / "freo" (skin is not actually cold, it's partial numbness actually), burning/ ”calor/ caliente”(skin is not actually warm). Nothing applied locally will help (where you "feel it's coming from"), figure out where it's coming from, address underlying cause.

@@TomMorrison it takes one to know one. I had to learn to walk again early teenage years - I was in bed for 1.5 years from a bone cancer tumor crushing my spinal cord and only felt severe Nerve pain PAST MY KNEES*, nothing else at / around the source (L-spine).
*Sciatica is over diagnosed, very often incorrect Dx if Nerve pain stops before the knees upon history taking.

Ok. Then my sudden, sharp hip pain and the infrequent 'catch' and hip giving out is bad...but the duller, more frequent, hip pain - same hip, is good?
They've said I have moderate degeneration in that hip too.

At actual front of the groin (true hip joint) ?
Both can cause buckling pain, but the first is easy to treat, the latter needs deeper intervention.

I have had groin/hip pain for 8 years or more. Stabbing sharp pain with limited mobility now due to not moving or stretching due to pain. 3 MRI's have shown nothing. I have been told by 2 different hip consultants that there is nothing wrong. Steroid injections worked for about 6 months each time. I have stopped running 8 years ago, moved to biking, stopped biking due to pain and now cant walk far or sit for long without pain. Hamstrings and adductors feel like metal bars they are so tight. I have tried everything, most recently sports pilates, but had to stop and in too much pain again, Hamstrings and adductors again too tight. I want to try programme but am worried that I will have to keep stopping for weeks as body virtually ceases up after any exercise programme. Every physio i have ever seen says they cant help and i need a scan of hip. I have had 3 MRI's and consultants tell me to see a physio. I am in a vicious cycle. Will this beginner program likely help ?

It will give you structure for sure, just starting with 3-5 reps of the regression examples will be ideal

I hear the word “stability” thrown around a lot. The plank and the press in your example simply recruit different tissues. The issue, it seems, is that doing an external rotation exercise, for example, has been relegated to “auxiliary work” as opposed to the “main lifts” (like a press.) Strength in the right places creates so-called stability; it seems to me that stability isn’t (shouldn’t be) this other kind of work separate from strength training. All of this stuff should fall under the banner of “mobility” work - strength, through full range, of which, given structural balance, stability is a byproduct.

    • @TomMorrison
      @TomMorrison  2 месяца назад +1

Yes, a lot of things are teaching tools and well executed strength training is enough to maintain mobility, not everyone start being able to just do that tho and needs a phase of improving mobility first

I've had bad back pain x 3 months. Had a compression fx of L2 when doing a deadlift. It's really difficult to know what I should be doing. Also have had disc bulging in the lower lumbar vertebrae. I don't want to cause any more pain for myself. 😢

I tore my Hip labrum over 20years ago and now have arthritis, I can't get a hip replacement due to allergy to many metals. It is now effecting more and more the rest of my body. How do I start to move it as it just constantly aches and when I move I get stabbing pain.
