Oh man! I had all those "uzay" branded figures when I was a kid. And also the board game! I wish I still had them :) Gret memories :) ps: "uzay" means "space" in Turkish.
Hi i'm from Hungary! They made back then bootleg figures because the original Kenner star wars figures weren't availables in Hungary, and those figures that were available where usually very rare and expensive at the time, and bootlegs where more common and cheaper
The reasons for the occasionally surreal shades of Polish Star Wars knockoffs from the 80s were twofold: firstly, sometimes there would not be enough, say, white rubber to pour into a mold, but that did not stop production: whatever rubber was available was the one used. Hence such memorable creations as pink Chewbacca or the scary, shiny, pitch-black Stormtroopers, who looked like Vader's illegitimate sons. The second reason was that, amusingly, the figures were often hand-painted by local grannies, who supplemented their pensions that way. Some of them were given original figures or Star Wars photos for reference, some actually knew the films, but some did not, and instead, they relied on their imagination. That gave birth to blonde Leia, black-haired Luke, Han Solo with pink pants, a silver vest and red hair... and oodles of other Darth Picasso creations. (Private businesses were allowed to operate in Poland during its socialist period - it was formally known as "private initiative", and merely required one to register with the government as a business, sift through several bureaucratic forms, and pay additional taxes. Several "private initiatives" made copies of Kenner's figures (and many, many other toys, from Muppets and Pink Panther to Batman and Superman), but the most productive one was located in Gdańsk. Where it once stood, there is now only an empty lot, overgrown with weeds and grass, but decades ago, a warehouse was standing there - and inside, they would pour melted rubber into metal forms day and night, making hundreds of figures daily, for years.)
Yes Because Steve didn't want to spent much money on those figures also refering to the hungarian figures . Steve bought them long before the sky wasn't the limit . There was not much info about Headman in the early years , he had to be found first .
I think you have it absolutely spot-on. He seems a very nice guy, but I wonder if he's been trained as a reporter / journalist to actually ask questions that will generate interesting answers, or if he just wants to be nice and polite and accommodating to his interview subjects - which is totally fine too, I guess.
i picked up a figure in the late 90s marked "evil star robot". it was a one piece badly sculpted Boba Fett about 7" tall and you could smell that petro-chemical smell but stronger. made in china. bare cardboard backing as well. wish i still had it
Hungarian SW figures... Yessss!!! I have some at home. Unfortunately are unboxed. These was my favorite childhood games. I was able to read the box label: 02:22 "Csillagok Háborúja". Yeahhh. Thank you! Great memories.
These were for sale (for us poor Turkish kids who couldn't afford or find the originals) when I was in elementary school (about 25 years ago), I remember "Darth Vader" was named "Dark Leader" :) And I think I owned an Imperial Gunner (no calculator included) ;p
Norm still tries to touch everything even in the new videos 4 years later. I guess he never reads the comment section, or maybe he knows it's a problem and just cant stop himself
Is he even a pop culture geek to begin with? The way he acts and talks makes him look like that one clueless friend who looks at your vintage toy collection and ask why you display them inside a glass cabinet.
He owns a sweet museum that he bought everything for, that's pretty cool. He probably has a story for every piece in there, and we only saw 1/4 of his stuff, if that.
He has the largest Star Wars collection "in private hands". SO the government has a larger collection somewhere? In Fort Knox? Next to the government cheese caves? (I assume he means Lucas has more stuff, but it is a strange phrasing)
Thumbs up for Hungary :) Actually that boardgame is awsome :D You should also check out our bootleg Playmobils called Schenk, those were truly amaznig, I had a lot as a child
He seems incredibly even-keeled and genuinely interested in Star Wars as a cultural phenomenon. He doesn't seem to treat the objects are people or use them to fill an empty void in his life. He's like a scholar.
That Norm is a mush mouth. Also they should have taken stills or b roll of the figures and boxes in question. The dude barely held still and camera barely got the items in frame. Terrible presentation.
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTHIhhhhhhhhhhhing on earth beats POLISH BOBBA FETTE!!!!!!! Not even prototypes for Chewies Family from the Christmas Special!!!!!!
I buy store own brand when i food shop for my mum when she can't go shopping herself, does the product always have to be official as long as it's high quality and passes the safety standards?.
what if you bootlegged the bootlegs?! *sniff sniffff* Do you smell that? It smells like genius *sniff* money *sniff* hipsters *sniff snifff* and law suits! I love the idea. Who's with me! ;)
There is an online 3D priinting shop which has everything you need. You just need to use its search feature somewhat intuitively... Ditto for other even more obscure stuff like Space:1999 and so on.
Oh man! I had all those "uzay" branded figures when I was a kid. And also the board game! I wish I still had them :) Gret memories :)
ps: "uzay" means "space" in Turkish.
Lucky you! I wish you still had them too.
Blue Stars looked like it was a Cobra Commander figure.
A trick : you can watch movies at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Blaze Kannon Definitely, I've been using flixzone for months myself =)
lol the Blue star guy aka blue snowtrooper actually looks cool
Lord Nerf Cats I concur. I want it.
Hi i'm from Hungary! They made back then bootleg figures because the original Kenner star wars figures weren't availables in Hungary, and those figures that were available where usually very rare and expensive at the time, and bootlegs where more common and cheaper
the calculator is the best
No five thousand dollars was bestest. And small enough to fit under your shirt while he isn't looking
A true piece of art.

The way the collector says “very” makes me happy and I don’t know why
Steve is amazing and such a nice guy. Traveled to USA from Australia in 2013 and was blown away with Rancho Obi-Wan!
If they don't get to the crawling baby dalmatian stormtrooper I'm gonna riot.
He didn't mention Head Man. How do you talk about Uzay without bringing up Head Man?
+Jayden Crowe Pretty Sure he only has the Gunner, Blue Stars, and Chewie.
Yes Because Steve didn't want to spent much money on those figures also refering to the hungarian figures . Steve bought them long before the sky wasn't the limit .
There was not much info about Headman in the early years , he had to be found first .
I love bootlegs especially good quality with colour variations a la Blue Stars
I think you have it absolutely spot-on. He seems a very nice guy, but I wonder if he's been trained as a reporter / journalist to actually ask questions that will generate interesting answers, or if he just wants to be nice and polite and accommodating to his interview subjects - which is totally fine too, I guess.
I like this guy. He seems like he can tell really passionate about his hobby, without geeking out about it.
Great vid! You've just gotta love Steve Sansweet - he's a legend!!
I have a Russian bootleg of Chewbacca. He's golden and steroid up.
i picked up a figure in the late 90s marked "evil star robot". it was a one piece badly sculpted Boba Fett about 7" tall and you could smell that petro-chemical smell but stronger. made in china. bare cardboard backing as well. wish i still had it

I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, but I am loving these videos!
These were for sale (for us poor Turkish kids who couldn't afford or find the originals) when I was in elementary school (about 25 years ago), I remember "Darth Vader" was named "Dark Leader" :) And I think I owned an Imperial Gunner (no calculator included) ;p
I know for sure thet he does not have the same Boba Fett action figure I have, with a removable helmet showing the face of George Lucas underneath.
I don’t own a single bootleg Star Wars and I never have done. I’m very proud of myself
Oh man, I don't know why I find this kind of stuff to be so cool.
That host just loves trying to touch the guys stuff when he is holding it
Norm still tries to touch everything even in the new videos 4 years later. I guess he never reads the comment section, or maybe he knows it's a problem and just cant stop himself
Is he even a pop culture geek to begin with? The way he acts and talks makes him look like that one clueless friend who looks at your vintage toy collection and ask why you display them inside a glass cabinet.
tbh the guy wouldn't even point the boxes to the camera properly. In my opinion that's worse.
Wow. Don't go in that collector's basement to look at some of his collection. He sounds creepy. Like chain you to the water pipe creepy.
He owns a sweet museum that he bought everything for, that's pretty cool. He probably has a story for every piece in there, and we only saw 1/4 of his stuff, if that.
this guy is what u call a COLLECTOR!!!
He has the largest Star Wars collection "in private hands". SO the government has a larger collection somewhere? In Fort Knox?
Next to the government cheese caves? (I assume he means Lucas has more stuff, but it is a strange phrasing)
And the Rancho Obi-Wan guy wasn't too bad either.
Hungary was pretty damn good at bootleg Star Wars merchandise. At some point there were really ugly action figures carved out from soap bars, no joke.
Emperial gunner was just calculating his tax-returns.
Polish Boba Fett kinda looks like he has his holiday special colour scheme.
He knows his tech specs
Awesome vid! Thumbs up, damn that's a lot of Star wars :p
It's fun to see all these bootleg toys, but the camera man doesnt show us a good shot of it.
I liked that action movie zoom in 0:27 right on the word "NOW"
There's a guy on TeknoSeyir youtube channel that has all UZAY figures.
How on Earth did they get the molds for the toys from Kenner?
Steve sansweet is awesome
Bootlegs make our life colourful! :)
The title should be The Worst, and The Best of the Worst Bootleg Star Wars Toys.
Thumbs up for Hungary :) Actually that boardgame is awsome :D You should also check out our bootleg Playmobils called Schenk, those were truly amaznig, I had a lot as a child
why does the interviewer try to act like C3PO? Very distracting mannerisms.
Seemed more as if he was acting like RIchard Dreyfuss acting like C3-P0...
That's just his way of moving...?
I’m under the impression that these characters are what Disney made their movies about. No?
Press 6 to find out where this guy got all his Star Wars toys.
Currently trying to get the blue stars figure.
I honestly didnt find him pretentious at all and im typically very judgemental
Look at the picture of the box in the thumbnail, it looked like they molded a figure and they put a remote like he was clicking buttons
You mean the calculator? I think they bring that up in the video.
He seems incredibly even-keeled and genuinely interested in Star Wars as a cultural phenomenon. He doesn't seem to treat the objects are people or use them to fill an empty void in his life. He's like a scholar.
I think i have a couple of Phantom menace princess amidala fake figure somewhere still in the box.there are a fake one. And now its cost WoW
I have all my orginal star wars/ empire strikes back and return of the jedi toys and movie tickets from long long ago
Who dusts all those items every day/week/month?
And, yet...he collects them...
Must be hell to clean everything.
Nah he's alright. Sometimes he just doesn't know what to say, and should just say nothing.
"How industrious" lol
this video was awesome.
I like the bootleg vids best.
Ha! Thanks for that bit of information, that's awesome! :)
That Norm is a mush mouth. Also they should have taken stills or b roll of the figures and boxes in question. The dude barely held still and camera barely got the items in frame.
Terrible presentation.
But I like the upside down calculator
I have got to go to this place
Bet he doesn't have the oversized 90's Power Of The Force knockoffs.
I have a Russian bootleg of Bossk. He's pink instead of his real outfit.
Does anyone know Swansweet's address?
Did your razor get caught in your neckbeard when you were shaving this morning?
Who are you referring to? The interviewer or the collector??
Funny the "Death Star Gunner" was stolen from the Black Hole
My favourite video.
I like the bootleg The Force toy which is empty....
You forgot headman.
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTHIhhhhhhhhhhhing on earth beats POLISH BOBBA FETTE!!!!!!! Not even prototypes for Chewies Family from the Christmas Special!!!!!!
Bootlegs are the best. Imaginative beyond belief haha
Dat Millenium Falcon. o_o
Must be nice to not worry about money
I am a nerd. i have star wars monopole.
I'm looking for the UZAY r2d2. doe anyone know where I can purchase one.?
It'll be expensive, but maybe eBay? Or you could check one of those second-hand shops. Hope I helped :)
Anyone else think this guys sounds a little like Dr Zoidberg?
Their are in star vault like the lego vault in a way
Norm stop trying to grab stuff :P
I had (still have) the legit Battle At Sarlacc's Pit board game. It was shite, and looks comparable to these bootlegs.
Buyer beware as everyone says
I want the ewok figure so bad
Did your lavalier mic is also bootleg, or you just forgot to turn it on? LOL
? What's wrong with the audio?
Im from turkey :)
Never mind
Trust me don't buy star wars toys in mexico
I bet he has a star wars one of them too :( ... :)
Tha thumb nail character looks like he’s from gi joe
I have a bootleg of Russian Pink Bosske,
this guy needs some Lili Ledy's ond his collection
TÜRKİYEM
Kerem Kavukcu as bayrakları ajajajajaj
Could you at least show the toys on camera, guys?
I love star wars
Too bad he doesn't have Head Man.
Steve is somehow funnier and a lot more charismatic than the intern host himself.
Norm is not an intern. He has been with the company since like the beginning. This is his job.
I buy store own brand when i food shop for my mum when she can't go shopping herself, does the product always have to be official as long as it's high quality and passes the safety standards?.
You can't compare the generic brands to knock off action figures.
completely different.
yes the food is fine haha.
Couldn't watch this through. It looks fascinating but the camera work makes me feel sick:(
I'm from Hungary :D
Csillagok Háborúja :D
AS BAYRAKLARI TÜRKİYEEE
