I had this exact experience with Eau de Rochas Homme. Off-putting at first, now I can’t get enough of it. Sounds like the fragrance profile might actually be similar too.
I’ve tried this a couple of times on testers and on skin and just can’t get on with it. Other Thameen fragrances are much more instantly wearable and I would happily spend that many £ for something I’d enjoy wearing on special days. I just can’t afford to buy stuff that it takes me time to love. Thameen as a brand… expensive but worth it. This specific one, it’s a Marmite scent.
Thanks Ash for the review! It’s in the realm of what I’m looking for this summer…do you think Dior Eau Sauvage EDT or AdP Essenza is better for everyday use?
I’m shocked how much you’re painting this as challenging. Yeah, it’s a classic style scent, but the citrus isn’t as bracing as stuff like Dior Eau Sauvage or Chanel Pour Monsieur. This smells very modern, and I think anyone that hopped on the grapefruit train that started with Light Blue Forever won’t have a problem with this.
I suspect that a lot of traditional cologne fragrances from the 60's through 80's are starting to make a comeback. Gen Z didn't grow up with those fragrances when they were kids and don't associate them with their dad's or other middle aged men in their lives. As someone born in 79, a lot of oak moss and musk based fragrances (that combination specifically) remind me of the middle aged barbers at the barber shop when I was a kid so fragrances with those notes always smell old to me.
As much as I love the few niche fragrances I have, as far as accessibility goes, it's as if they don't even care if anyone buys their stuff. Like seriously other than enthusiasts and reviewers, which people, even people with money, are buying or even deciding to sample a £300 scent 😂
When Ash describes a /spring/summer frag that you gotta “ease” into. Probably best to just avoid it 👍 On another not, looks like they thought it would help the sale by adding “Elixir” to the name 🤣
@@botrytis_cinerea While i Don’t doubt the quality of Thameen, I can’t really justify spending the amount of money on a bottle I’ll probably never reach for. I’ve yet to sample it, but just from Ash’s review, it’s already deterred my interest in the fragrance. I say this because so far, 99% of the time, Ash’s choices fall on the same style scent profiles I enjoy. The ones he dislikes, I’ve found out, are also ones I can’t stand. I know this because there was a point in the past where I didn’t trust his opinion, and decided to blind buy a bottle of John Varvatos. I’ve long forgotten which, but it was complete garbage, just like he said. From then on, I pretty much fully trust his opinion on most, if not all fragrances.
It is amazing upon first try and will purchase as soon as Saks has a sale. $295 is a lot. Ash needs to stick with cheapies and clones and doesn't really get luxury.
I got a sample the other week. I love it, can't afford a full bottle but I love the floral notes. They linger for days.
Your pre-intro stuff are hilarious, they are getting better and better!😂
It's that $300 price tag that scares me off.
This fragrance is my favorite out of my entire niche collection. It's just me in a bottle.
Hey Ash, great review, as always I like your honesty and have a blessing week peace ✌️ 🇬🇧

Thats Christopher Chong for you. He is turning Thameen into another Amouage. In other words, he is making thameen great!
Great review and I enjoyed it and I'm going to try it and have a blessed day
I like seeing the Open/Mid/Base notes in one display.
Spreading the notes across the video is OK, but I prefer the old format.
😂 ash with his magnetic caps, he is simply astounded when he gets a fragrance with a magnetic cap
I have 42 fragrances and not a single magnetic cap.

It's is an amazing scent. It's got a classy, mature yet fresh vibe.
I've been curious about this one for awhile. Some day it leans feminine so I've been holding out
Not at all feminine if you actually smell it. It is a spicy citrus.
The ever popular cause of maceration may be at play, or maybe just plain old aging. Like wines get better with age.

Great job

Probably not as much as designers but still quite a bit
I didn't like this one on first sample try but after a couple more try's I have added it to my want list

It's an amazing scent. Have you smelt it?

@@Q_N- but he said he really likes it...? By that logic you would too
I generally like Thameen, but Cologne Elixir? Come on…
1st? Aww yea...hello friends

Ah yes, the loser judging someone’s opinion while not having their own fragrance channel. I’m SURE the world will listen to you 😒
Are you describing fragrance stockholm syndrome ?
Armaf CDNIM LIMITED EDITION have better presentations than this for $50
Lol im the same way with magnetic caps hahahaha
