Discord wasn't really sure who to blame. If anyone at all. The fabled Mane Six perhaps... Or their next generation from the school? But... They were all long gone. Even his darling Fluttershy had passed, he had pleaded for her to allow him to grant her some of his magic, to allow them to remain together for longer. She had smiled and instead asked for him to bury her peaceful, not in the clouds as most pegesus but in the earth she preferred under the trees. He had done as asked and cared for the Grove like nothing before. Twilight was the only one to enter aside from him. He watched as the princess seemed to fade over time. Her color slowly vanishing, Celestial and Luna vanishing one day up to their celestial hosts leaving Cadance and Twilight alone. Not for long... As Shining passed... Then Cadance of grief... Flurry... Discord couldn't recall what happened to the little alicorn... But he watched as the world began to change. But not the Grove. No. Not his dear Fluttershys place of rest. He would guard forever that piece of forest with its crystal pond and flowers of all bloom. And the trees of yellow leaf and pink flower. He slept for a time. In the Grove, and when he woke covered in moss and flora... The world was wrong. He could feel the magic slipping. Desperately he tried to transport himself to Twilight, he knew he shouldn't have left her... Not after Spike had passed but... When he arrived... There was no Canterlot. It... It was just gone. He could feel the magic from even himself begin to fade and in terror he tried to flee to the Grove. His haven. His Fluttershy... He felt it... The magic vanished to soon... His... He could feel it... There was something wrong... His body... Was in different pieces... But not like they normally were. He slithered... Crawled... Maybe both towards the center of the Grove... Finally resting his head the immortal she'd his final tears... "I am sorry my love... The grass... It is not green today..." And then all was silent. The Grove grew around him shielding it's creator and it's lover as Fluttershy welcomed her beloved into the world beyond and the magic of the world rotted away alongside the mighty being of Chaos's corpse. Sorry it's a bit long 😅 Also I have not seen much of the new show so I don't know if this would at all work but... Well I hope those of you who read like it 😊 and amazing art as always Blits

He couldn't bring himself to leave her for dead so he stayed, dying by the hooves and horn of the very pony he called 'mother'. Seems fitting for his character, as dragons are scarily loyal to the bitter end, and spike is no exception.
"As Magic faded, so did Discord's reality. As his reality crumbled, so did he" is how I like to view it. Without his magic, his reality couldn't stay together because his reality is ALL magic, an illusion. And, in a sense, so is he, too, just an illusion of magic, and is nothing without it.
Why not both?... The establishemnt of a reasonable ordinance upon the nature of the Lord of Chaos would create a contradiction whereby it would have to be accepted as a reality, thus a further contradicting to the previous one is created as chaos in itself cannot and will not have a reality when it is opposition to anything that is real or is (in an understandable sense). From where it sets a contingency of contradictions, where Discord cannot exist but also cannot not-exist to as both chaos and reality are mutually reaffirming the other through their dual denial of the former; a contradiction. Discord is thus a contradiction in its purest form, he cannot exist but also he woule exist just not as in existing, as chaos is the lack of one; a contradiction. So if he dies that means was also partly not chaos and thus refuting ''Lord of Chaos'', yet again the formentioned term is applied, and since pure chaos cannot be ''proportioned'.
A suggestion for Starlight Glimmer's death. Old age. What if her meddling with time travel caused her to rapidly age as a side effect, and she dies as an elderly and withered hag.
I don't even know how to DESCRIBE how epic the lighting is here. The golden glow mixed with the purple-ish space has got to be the coolest lighting mix I've seen for a LONG time.
