I played one of these EL34 eqipped 5150s a few years ago and was absolutely blown away, one of the best amps I've ever heard. When I get the space to house it, I will eventually pick one up.
I grabbed the 50w and I run it out of the 2x12 cab that comes with it and it is fuckin loud. It gets so much better when you push these amps though. Practice volume the tone is still there tho. Which is cool

Yes, the Mark Five 25. I love that video and I have seen it several times. I even went to watch it again for the first time in years when they finally launched the combo version 2 years ago.
very, very good sound. Sometimes I find it a bit unfortunate that you don't mix different pickups and therefore different guitars with the same amp. Ola testing pickups in the room.
@@greyXstar partially true when the end result is studio processed, but its in the room, an experience as if we would be there in the room When I play my guitars, I have to tweak the settings on my amp for every guitar. Ola, I cannot stress this enough as I work with people with hearing loss. If the amp is above a conversational level you absolutely should use ear protection. Technology has improved in recent years, but there are no hearing aids out there that will duplicate a human ear. Don't destroy what you can't replace, please.
Listen man, our ears have adapted to such noise. With the evolution of the human species we’ll soon no longer need ears to hear. We’ll be using our noses to hear and listen aside from smelling.
I lost half of my hearing in one ear and it was just from loud amplifiers. I loved the really loud sound but now I have to use something to quiet the tone.
Whenever you welcome guests back into your space again you should have them do an in the room with you. Maybe try a rig of their choice out of your collection. Would be super interesting to hear how they sound in the room compared to you!
Solar is actually a bit easier on the wallet than most standard Jackson's. You can get a higher end solar guitar for the price of a standard model Jackson.
@@metalheadzac9119 Fixed bridge/hardtail is my main squeeze as well. After owning a Floyd Rose, I made the smarter choice of only purchasing guitars with hard tails. Those Austrian Audio mics are so good... I recently picked up an OC818 and it seems to give a "cold" (in a good way, as in precise) and very 3D, organic, yet focused sound that includes the room if that makes sense (if it doesn't... it's just good.) The polar pattern plugin also can be very helpful but I find myself not using it as much as I thought I would, not because it doesn't work, simply because the mic makes a good tone easy to dial in from the start. The mic also requires little post-processing too. Highly recommended for capturing extreme metal tones and affordably priced for what you get.
I should say that for me this amp sounds as an absolute beast (sorry for stealing your signature phrase, Ola!)) of a high-gain amplifier! Such a powerful, chunky and yet pristine tone! This is how a metal amp should sound, in my opinion! Thank you for another cool and funny video, Ola! :) P. S. Your reactions to the sound of this amplifier are invaluable, Ola!))
Any chance you can demo a Bogner Ubercab 412 X-Pattern 210-watt? Specifically the one that is front loaded with 2 Celestion V30s and 2 G12T-75s. I can't find a decent video on RUclips of anyone playing through this cab.
Love this series it's one of my favorites you produce! Would love to have you test a pairing of the new celestion help back with the celestion EVH speakers together. I watched a small demo clip and loved what they sounded like there, so I'd love to hear your take on the pairing! Maybe they could be viable a replacement/alternative for a great tone that isn't the same cab loaded v30's from the last 30+ years that have been done to death and back.
I absolutely love the 5150 stealth setup!!! I got a chance to try one in a guitar shop an it was absolutely f’Kin dope🤘 love the capabilities of it. Still will always be a Randall Satan cab setup fan though no matter what😈

Who's buying amps like it anymore? So many guys, myself included going to dedicated modeler setups using them with FRFR's. I was at my local shop having some guitar work done and they said they are barely selling any amps. Even the owner is using a Kemper. My Mesa Boogie Mark V is collecting dust and I am looking to sell it off. Most of the venues aren't wanting as much stage volume and prefer to run everything through the PA. I use my FM3 for everything while I wait to get an FM9. I love the sound and feel of a good tube run hot and loud. That's what the modelers are working to model of course. They do a good job. I know on my part, I am just going to stick with running a Fractal unit into an FRFR and into the PA live. And use those same presets copied in different spots and slightly modded for most of my recording. I do love a good half stack. But simply don't need it anymore.
Celestion don't make all V30's equal. I'd love to see you do a test with a fixed cab and mic placement, and just swap out a Marshall V30, a Mesa V30, a British V30 from say an Orange, and Chinese V30 etc etc.
