It makes me think that John Wick takes place on a planet like Sigma Iota II from Star Trek. Sigma Iota II was a planet inhabited by human-like aliens who structured their society after Prohibition-era Chicago mafias, learning about it after receiving a book on the subject from a Terran space ship. Sigma Iota II sported similar technology and cultural traits to that time and seemed to only have mafias as government. John Wick's world seems quite similar, a society structured after mafias, but 21st century mafias rather than 1920s, sporting similar cultural traits and technology as Earth at the time. They have a government (seen with police, firefighters, and infrastructure), but it appears very ineffective, with the real authorities being the mafias. Plants, animals, and the sapient species are perfect copies of Earth, although being alien probably explains the absurd amount of injuries that the assassins are able to walk off until they're shot in the head. That, and the tech involving the bulletproof suit and the gear that the High Table strike force were wearing seem to be more advanced than what we have now. Pretty much, the society is built on mafias and assassin rings, so people stop questioning it/fighting it, and it starts to encompass large amounts of the population.
Bit I love about this scene is when John starts to break into a run, it's the only moment in either film we see John show something resembling fear, he knows he's royally fucked it and his time is limited, and for the first time in years he's not the legendary Baba Yaga, he's just a guy called John who is going to die, for the first time in the film he's vulnerable. Or at least that's my read on the scene.
when he hears all of the phones going off and he starts to run you can just see fear in him, because now every assassin in the world will come after him in one hour
I’ll never not get goosebumps at 4:36 He starts noticing more and more people around looking at him, The sun is going down, He starts running, and the music intensifies…When I first saw this ending I truly felt the anxiety.
Yeh same, not enough love was given to John wick 2 it might be my favourite out of the franchise despite it not having the best action out of the franchise
TK·MAX I'd paid good money for the person who emails Denzel at the end of the Equalizer to be a member of the High Council wanting McCalls help to track down John Wick since he's good at finding people however after a fight between the two maybe the two actually have history together or something since John wick knows almost everyone or they have a truce after finding out they both took down parts of the Russian mob they work together to finally take the High Table down
Wggdin Briones damn right john will never have a goodlife he will never sleep because he cant.he wil be dead in seconds.u can say @ that moment john knew he fucked up hahah
yannick willems Now every assasin around the world will be hunting for John Wick. No one fears the Boogeyman with a price of $7 million dollars on his head.
"Winston, tell them, tell them all, who ever comes, who ever it is, I'll kill them, I'll kill them all." I can't think of too many lines more epic than this one.
I think Winston's comment at 1:18, when John asks why he's still alive, is just as epic. "Because I deemed it not to be." And EVERYONE in the square stops moving at Winston's order.
The reason John Wick did so well critically and commercially compared to all the other modern revenge flicks is because of the amazing world it creates. It doesn't tell you every detail about it only references it and that's what makes it so interesting and superior.
I know opinions are like arseholes (we all have one). But these films just leave me cold.... Yes great choreography, yes world building. But it doesn't have any dramatic heft like say the first Taken film...
I feel like Winston is the Devil and John Wick is his son. That's why he is confident and knows John will be fine. I mean look at Winston's face when John says he will kill them all. It's like a proud father and wants to see it happen
brought im thinking the same, so many clues point to it. He has a place in Rome and NYC (Mystery Babylon and Bablyon) and then look at the power he displays almost like he possession over all those assassin's, Blood Oaths. Its too many subtle things like that. Also the Black Angel over looking them.
Loved this ending scene. To me it felt like John was feeling like he was descending deeper into hell where the whole world has become hostile to him, and is ready to take his life. He seems genuinely afraid for his life. I haven't watched the third movie yet. Excited to find out what happens.
Well third movie ends with John Wick presumed dead& Winsaton seems to be playing role of double agent for John in high table.Bower king,John& probably Winston planning to burn the entire high table down in part 4.But I have a bad feeling that John might die while wiping out hightable
At 4:30 I always found it intriguing that the woman looks at John like that. She's very likely another assassin, but her face is so remorseful and sympathetic in the moment. And what's more disturbing is how some of those parkgoers look like they don't want to kill him, either, neither out of fear that he will kill them, or that they might actually succeed. It's the fear of retaliation from the High Table, just as it was on those who were with him and deliberately refused to do so, as we see in the third film.
She scares me. A look of sheer compassion, empathy, the innocence of caring for her sole child in the park, all the while hiding a double life as a killer with an interest to take the bounty of a legendary assassin. Good lord knows what kind of lethal skill she hides behind that doting single mother facade.
What you see is her seeing the text that Jon is now excommunicato and no one can help him without stiff penalties the hit will be posted in an hour so there is no confusion
That's what these movies, TV, fake media, etc., are DESIGNED, to DO. (i.e. Keep people in FEAR, and therefore, "in check!") John Wick vs. the IH$ cult Black Nobility? (Since the Comorra, are "lower level" mafiosa...) To bad they "deleted"" the "nod from the IHS cardinal at the Vatican (scene) wearing the Gesu- hit "wolf ring, within a ring..." but then perhaps more than .01% of us could READ the significance of THAT hidden 'symbology??? Think of Hitler's "wolf's lair..."' in the Valkyrie movie. Himmler 'replaced' the "black pope..." and Hitler's uncle was a Jesu -it. IH$ culter, as one "wolf in sheep's clothing," example. Or read Bavarian Quartermaster General Eric Luddendorf's account of WW1, and look to IH$ controlled Freemasonry, as another. Also search: "IHS grave marker + US dollar sign," and then click, on "Images..." and BEHOLD your (Black Nobility family member) MASTERS sitting at the REAL... "High Table." ;-)))
As gripping as this final scene was, I also couldn't help but smile in amusement at his adorable pitbull running alongside him-- he's even wagging his tail!
The best part of this scene....John Wick knows every road is blocked for him...all privileges lost...marked by every assassin in the world....but still has the sheer audacity to declare he will kill anyone and everyone.....and the smile of Winston saying "Ofcourse, you will"...simply amazing. The best ending for a movie. And all this with this mind-blowing soundtrack in the background!!!!
Could you imagine being in John's shoes in this scenario. Literally surrounded by assassin's being notified about a bounty on his head while he makes his escape in one of the most dense and populated cities in the world. This has a very Purge: Anarchy type vibe to it, only more professional and practical. Like we know John is a total badass, but even he is anxious and worried as every elite hitman converges to him. This is some great suspense-building cinematography. Easily, the greatest cliffhanger of recent times.
here is how I see John Wick 3:John Vs the World, John starts living out in Northern Michigan, and is living like the Vietcong and develops a decent tunnel system, with traps around the forested are he lives in and is Distrustful of everyone he sees. the paranoia is strong in John Wick.
I can't tell you enough how much I hate cliffhanger endings... But i fucking love this ending to death. Because this is where John is at his most dangerous. He literally has nothing left. His wife. His Dog. His car. His house. His membership to the continental. All gone. He doesn't even have his phone with the video of his wife. Everything has been taken from him. And a man with nothing left to lose has nothing left to fear. Not even his own life. Since he's shown that his own life is worthless to him by killing Santino, an act he knows is punishable by death. But Winston likes John too much to let him basically commit suicide. Which is why he gives John a fighting chance. And in that moment, a moment where he basically chose death, is where he truly comes to life..." the most dangerous creation of any society is the man who has nothing to lose." - James A. Baldwin
Red Flannel Shirt Guy i would love a small recap running through his head while running to get away from everyone to start the movie where it left off. But most likely it would be a small time skip.
Stick Malone yes I swear at this part I thought it was going to show more but that's when it ends with him running I got all excited for no reason I jumped up in my seat like getting ready as John haves 1hr before he is dead well hopefully he won't be
@@Borderose And John looks at him with complete understanding. Major respect coming from everyone. Like when Butch stopped Marsellus from getting raped.
I get goosebumps everytime John is running and all the phones are going off around him. Like DAMN I bet even John was thinking "that's a lot of assassin's I gotta kill"
In this scene makes everyone believe Winston was the most powerful person in this society but in chapter 3 we learn that he’s under the table and everyone must serve and respect the table no matter what which makes things even scarier it’s crazy how the table can do whatever they want and people have two choices follow or die
The Power Winston holds is huge and perfectly shown in this scene. If these People were all Assassins just see it this way: John Wick was right there, exhausted, hurt, a 14 Million Bounty on his head and eternal fame for the one who "killed the Legend". Yet nobody even dares to pull out a gun, because of Winston. With a single nod of his, all these Assassins go away and leave John be, for the next one hour, nobody even tries to follow him and wait until the hour is up. Winston is way more than a normal Continental manager, he runs the whole bloody business. Also seen when he inspected the new gold coins earlier in the film. I doubt a normal manager has the authority to inspect the quality of the hand made currency for the Assassin world.
His number is 11-11-1 he's the first account holder which means he must have set the whole system up or at least come to be in charge of it. From the way he seems to have a coterie of suppliers, services and outfitters attached to the Continentals and this little display of power (though they're probably not all assassins) if he isn't the top man whoever is is terrifying.
Ozymandias13 He has more power than all of them combined. it's clearly shown. He can do whatever he wants buy always keeps the rules he set because he has principles.
Incadeptus Tetragrammaton Ambrosius Would not surprise me if Winston now takes the seat that Santino had John sent to kill his sister in Rome. Maybe Winston might somehow try to help John in Chapter 3.
Imagine watching him buy guns at a NORMAL Gun Store 😂🤣 "Do you have a gun license? Here's some paperwork to get the gun registered, now will that be Credit? Debit? Or Cash?... Why are you handing me Golden Coins? Am I supposed to use this at an arcade or something?"
This is a really powerful bit of cinema for me- if you've ever ran away or had a feeling to run away, this scene captures that emotion. This is probably the best action movie I've ever seen; a remarkable series.
That's one of the most badass way to end a movie where you feel connected to the main character and you fear for him you can see yourself in his shoes I don't think I've seen a better ending to a trilogy
I assume Bourne would be more fitting - you know they kinda have the same speed(and he most likely bring some pens with him as well). The Equalizer is way more slow and controlled. But with Bournes capabilities regarding getting rid of assassins and surveillance teams i think it would fit better. You know like "we lost team 1....hell where is team 2... 3 respond god dammit!" If he wants to retire again - Robert is ofc still an option. Anyway, what kind of educational system is filling up the ranks of all these dead assassins/henchmens/mercs? In a year or so the Gomorrha is heavily forced to recruit guys like Sobchak/Trevor as their main muscles!
> Winston : You are a Legend John. But you just cant face the world on your own, your time has come, you can run but you cant hide John.. > John : Actually i will hide in pencil factory Winston.. > Winston : Damn. Excommunicado canceled.
All Winston did was revoke John's benefits and services from The Continental. Satino's contract is where the financial incentive came from to kill John. And, let's face it, it's every assassin's personal choice to go after John or not. 14 million is a lot of scratch but with John's reputation, I bet a lot of assassins decided not to go after him.
@@freddybeer I think he meant that John is going to kill every person who received that message. As when he sent out the bounty he basically doomed all assasins to die by his blade
@@freddybeer it was supposed to be a joke mate. Nobody expects John to kill everyone who recieved that message. Can't you tell the difference between jokes?

4:23 This part of the amazing nostalgia music and scene showing john is on his own, no help, no friends cause who knows what will happen if he tries to reunite with them or anything
You know what I’ve always loved? The last time we saw Winston meet with someone here, it was Ms Perkins and he only brought 4 guys. Here he brings enough to fill the whole park. He knows what John can do, and he wouldn’t take any chances if he needed to take him out then and there
Hes the baba yaga that everyone fears, But not right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because hes not a fucking nobody. Hes a man of focus, commitment, and sheer will. John Wick.
He's the urban legend BabaYega in person. Crime lords feared him. And in this scene you can understand the very fear they had; they experienced, when they heard his name.. only difference was he was in their shoes now. This scene just gave me the chills.. perfect background score too !!
king Quan not really he's John wick which is his own identity itself , if I was batman and I went to kill spiderman it doesn't make me the new spiderman lol
marco ramirez yea i get that but lets see it from others prospective they call him the boogeyman and then he said he's the one you send to kill the FUCKING boogeyman but yet everyone still calls him the boogeyman he took that title
john - tell them tell them all whoever comes , who ever it is I will kill them , I WILL KILL THEM ALL!! Winston : course you will even Winston knows that Keanu is immortal
What I love about this scene is how it shows a more human side to both John and Winston. Winston is barely keeping his sadness in as he has to banish John from his system, while normally he's the one who's cold and composed. As for John, we now see how for the first time, he's truly afraid for his life. I think he honestly expected Winston to just give him the coup de grace there and get it over with, but instead Winston decided to bend the rules and give John a small chance of survival.
@@NovusTM John was using protection under his clothes. Look how he rises his clothes while Winston is shooting(to protect from the bullets). What really almost killed him was the high fall. Winston was protecting him to fight against the high table in the future.
You can literally see the pain in Winston's eyes. He had to do what must be done, but still showed emotional feelings toward John, understanding what he is going through.
"I'll kill them all" "Um John, do do realize, in this universe, like every 4th person is a hitman? You'd literally have to kill, like, a quarter of the world's population" "Yeah I know"
The best part about this is that john is truly vulnerable at this point. He's wounded and tired and i think in chapter 3 we will see him at his most dangerous when he's backed into a corner.
And then, he went to Office Depot, stole all the pencils, and prepared for war

It makes me think that John Wick takes place on a planet like Sigma Iota II from Star Trek. Pretty much, the society is built on mafias and assassin rings, so people stop questioning it/fighting it, and it starts to encompass large amounts of the population.
@@fleetadmiralauto6506 i think you may be looking a bit too far into it
Bit I love about this scene is when John starts to break into a run, it's the only moment in either film we see John show something resembling fear, he knows he's royally fucked it and his time is limited, and for the first time in years he's not the legendary Baba Yaga, he's just a guy called John who is going to die, for the first time in the film he's vulnerable.
Or at least that's my read on the scene.
Agreed with you 100%
Deathlygunn 10/10 comment.
I'm legit worried about what fate awaits John now..
when he hears all of the phones going off and he starts to run you can just see fear in him, because now every assassin in the world will come after him in one hour
no his running to get his gun and start to fuck some ppl up
But whoever comes, John Wick will kill them, he'll kill them all.

And it doesn't have any shaky cam fight scenes that are too zoomed in

123ROCKBOYX This^^
here is how I see John Wick 3:John Vs the World, John starts living out in Northern Michigan, and is living like the Vietcong and develops a decent tunnel system, with traps around the forested are he lives in and is Distrustful of everyone he sees. the paranoia is strong in John Wick.

UghThatGuy maybe but he'll have to kill the assassins that get in his way
I can't tell you enough how much I hate cliffhanger endings...
Bradley Poole probably something along the lines of "shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit..."
Red Flannel Shirt Guy not entirely true. He still has his trusty bulldog

In this scene makes everyone believe Winston was the most powerful person in this society but in chapter 3 we learn that he’s under the table and everyone must serve and respect the table no matter what which makes things even scarier it’s crazy how the table can do whatever they want and people have two choices follow or die
John Moreta In 4, we will learn that there is a higher higher table...then in five there is an even higher higher higher table...
If the table is the topmost authority, how did Winston possibly delay the bounty by camorra?
Winston: "execute order 66"
The World: "it will be done my lord"
people with any sense "no thank you i choose life"
Lol
The way you typed The World made me think of this as a jojo reference
Doom Slayer Im curious on the gold coin system. Is every service a single coin or can money be used instead of coin? If you know by any chance
Doom Slayer I think he is the head Manager of all Continental hotels. He is like the Ilumminati or maybe even has more power than them.
Imagine watching him buy guns at a NORMAL Gun Store 😂🤣
"Do you have a gun license? Here's some paperwork to get the gun registered, now will that be Credit? Debit? Or Cash?... Why are you handing me Golden Coins? Am I supposed to use this at an arcade or something?"
