The first painted samples are now available for the OO Scale Midland Pullman by Bachmann Branchline. We are pleased to present these models in action in this new video. Check http:\\www.bachmann.co.uk for more information.
This model is based on the iconic luxury train, which was designed and built by Metro-Cammell of Birmingham. The real life prototype catered for the high-end of the Manchester to London business market while services on the West Coast Main Line were disrupted during electrification.
The six car unit has many great features including:
    • directional lighting
    • etched fan grilles
    • highly detailed underframe equipment
    • coach ceiling lighting
    • table lamp lighting
    • new style close coupling
Available in 4th Quarter of 2012: 31-255DC in Nanking Blue livery and 31-256DC in Nanking Blue livery with yellow ends, both models are supplied with a DCC decoder already fitted (one in each power car).

This is by far the Rolls Royce of British models so far! Smooth running, quiet, excellent lighting. I managed to buy the first one sold in South Africa and I am truly impressed.
I hope there is more like this to come.

Very good detail a joy to watch, I remember back in 1962 the original midland pullman operating between nottingham & derby , I was a ganger at beeston north at the time, this train was a real treat to watch it go bye on my section, those were the days

Not really a Diesel fan, but Ihave to admit that this is a stunning model and if it weren't for the fact that there are so many wonderful models out there which are more appropriate to my railway, I would just have to have one. It would have to be without the Yellow ends though!! Once again, well done Bachmann

The ceiling lighting, AND table lighting are really cool. Sets a new standard. The detail is wonderful. Never did like the prototype yellow ends anyway. I luv the original livery version. DCC sound would be nice.

Oddly my local shop commented that all pre-orders for the yellow front have already sold out since bachmann is producing less versions in this guise. Like the blue grey Brighton Belle every livery has its fans

Well done Bachmann, what a superb model with some lovely extres. It looks fantastic on 'Stoke Sumit' layout. My problem is how do I justify one on my railway? Oh well, st's my railway so I'll run what I like. Great filming and video. Thanks Bachmann

    Hi,
sorry - missed your question! No, not the G12 for video (although I have used that in the past, I use a panasonic HS900 full HD video camera) - the stills were taken on a G12 though - well spotted!

I have an old Triang one with 2 parlour cars that has had the wheels converted to run on Code 100 rail. This new one looks excellent, but does not fit into what I want to model (HO rather than OO), and the price will be the wrong side of A$400 by the time it lobs out here in Oz - assuming it doesn't sell out in the U.K. first. So I can't see myself getting one at the moment.

The yellow ended one looks wrong!...I'm sure the cab roof was painted Nanking Blue not yellow!

  • @AnalogueOctober
    @AnalogueOctober 12 лет назад

this is superb. Will be pre-ordering one. The yellow ended one should be dropped. Prototypical or not, its plain ugly, and i think its audience will be limited.
Glad to see Bachmann make this 6 car set work. I seem to recall an interview on MRTV with Hornby and them saying the additional tooling was not worth the expense or hassle.
I guess until the figures are in, its hard to summise if this is going to be the case, but it certainly is a great video and does a great job at piquing interest.

My God that full yellow end is what Prince Charles might have referred to as a carbuncle on the face of a handsome friend. They perfected the gift of making almost everything on the railways ugly and brutal in the 70's..!

I don't have many but I thought that all DCC-fitted models came set to run on analogue layouts (I have no layout I'm afraid). If not just remove the DCC and replace it with the supplied blank which is easy even for electronically useless model railway enthusiasts like me.

In fifty years of railway modelling this is the best model I have ever owned. It comes into its own at night on my garden layout. Watch my short video, using the sound of the real ting and Clifton Parker's music "Blue Pullman" more in keeping than Mozart. ruclips.net/video/EltWGXGAkO0/видео.html
The only complaint I have received is that there is no driver in the cab. Although I have started to insert passengers in cars the cab appears to be sealed so the only way to get a driver in would be to cut whole in the base and push him in unless anyone can tell me a better solution.
