The Tema Motorway Interchange Phase 2 has officially been commissioned by the president in a vibrant ceremony that celebrated culture, progress, and international collaboration. The event featured traditional prayers, cultural dances symbolizing unity, and heartfelt recognition of the workers who built this monumental structure. Dignitaries, including representatives from the Japanese Embassy, attended the ceremony, adding an international touch to the festivities. In a moment that captured the joy of the day, a party faithful’s quirky “chop box” march stole the spotlight. This interchange, adorned with stunning murals, is more than a road-it’s a symbol of connection, unity, and progress for Ghana’s future.

4 years ago, the president cut the sod for the expansion of the Tema-Aflao and Tema-Akosombo road projects. At that time, the Tema motorway interchange had been done and the traffic had eased substantially. But the bottlenecks along those 2 arteries had become immensely worse. So initially we were all excited about the commencement of those works. To now hear about how this beautiful project is going to "ease traffic" on that stretch, is an insult to our intelligence and a typical political statement without caring what residents are truly going through here!!! People typically enjoy a smooth ride on the motorway, get to and uneventfully cross the interchange......., and then get stuck for hours on the Kpone junction and Ashaiman roundabouts. Yes, literally for hours!!!! Same thing, in reverse, when getting back to the motorway.
    Sorry, we are not impressed.

The congestion situation at Kpone Barrier and the Community 25 stretch is one of the heaviest traffic in Ghana. Unfortunately that project was under a different sponsorship but hey that stretch also deserves a critical look.
