    WHAT IS IN THE TAX REFORM... 1. Any business with less than N50million turnover are exempted from tax payment. 2. over 90% of workers in public and private sector will no longer pay income tax 3. Over 82% of what low income persons consume will be VAT free. 4. scrapping over 50 nuisance tax suffered by local businesses 5. VAT will no longer be calculated base on where the companies have their headquarters but where their goods are consume 6. the rich to pay more tax while the poor will stop paying taxes.. 7. Consumption tax collected by states will be eliminated completely 8. FG share of VAT to reduce from 15% to 10% as states and LGAs now get 90% 9. Those earning less than N1.7m monthly will now pay less income tax 10. Customs, NUPRC and other govt agencies will no longer collect tax as only one Agency will be responsible for collection of all taxes in NGR 11. Those receiving less than N9million per anum could have their income tax cut by half 12. The bill could lead to abolition of other multiple tax laws like the stamp duty act 13. Over 90% of small business would no longer pay profit tax 14. Gradual increase of VAT from 10% in 2025 to 15% in 2030... With almost every goods consume by low income earners exempted from VAT 15. Many NGR companies pay over 60 types of different tax & levies... The bill seeks to end this factor killing NGR industries.

    Dogara is always a man of wisdom and I always admire his logical contribution to important national issues. How many of these noise makers opposing the tax reform can present logical arguments and statistics to support their opinions like Yakubu dogara has eloquently presented here? Please, discuss logical issues, not emotions and baseless sentiments, period.

    Because this is just getting so annoying... I doubt we can keep dragging the North along with us in this journey to greatness. We can't keep doing this for God sake.

    Dogara is a true leaders that has the interest of the people in the north in mind. He is direct and speaks the truth. The north cannot continue think that they deserved to be pitied in certain matter. The leaders and politicians and traditional rulers need to wake and face the reality across the globe. The insecurity in the north is part of the draw back in the north today because the region has come a long way to produce eloquent and highly educated and business giants that they ought to be proud of. It will take the elites to educate the masses on this Tax Reform Bill as Hon Dogara and the Nasarawa governor has demonstrated on this program. Discussions should be done in all the major languages in Nigeria as already affirmed by the chairman of the tax reform committee.

    You're only being myopic n lopsided in your whole explanations without striking the balance to pinpoint the merit n demerit of the bill n it's negative/positive impact on low generating states and the future consequences it may result into.
    Mr Former Speaker: tell me a single country that uses tax generation as an economic strategy to bolster G.D.P instead of export trades?
    Secondly" how can you donate a blood to a patient while you're running ten-times low of reserve in your body as a donor?
    Thirdly: have any of the western countries adopt any of the IMF tax structural reforms and scale through a positive result, mention one with concrete evidence please ?
    Do you even live in Nigeria, talk more of knowing how naira is been floated to depreciation as so-called recommended by the IMF strategic approach to our economy rather than upholding the naira to it's previous value.
    Please kindly mention how many cushion effect were put into place after the subsidy removal ?
    Do you think these reforms have a contingency plans to the masses?
    With due respect I referred you to go back and read page No" 77 of 300+ pages of the bill that the derivation and the sharing formula of the whole bill.

      Is that not high time for the lazy governors to wear thinking cap to invest more on their people with monthly allocation to increase their IGR as their fellow few southern governors.
      If northern states have bigger population as aclaimed, then the consumption for the distribution should even favor northerner than the southerner.

    • @MsJubril
      @MsJubril Час назад +2

      Chief, this tax generation is NOT AN ECONOMIC STRATEGY TO BOLSTER GDP. I honestly dont know where you got that from.
      Secondly, your analogy of donating blood while low on blood is just flawed and wrong. This is NOT a donation, and the people who make lots of money are not low on anything.
      Third, are any of the western countries in our situation? And why do you think we are adopting the IMF tax structural reform?
      Do you need to live in Nigeria to know how naira has depreciated?? How do you uphold naira to its previous value??
      This is a tax reform bill, not a 'cushion for removal of fuel subsidy' bill.
      Why does a tax reform bill need a contigency plan for the masses?
      Is page 77 where it's stated that some states gets more VAT for products where those products are consumed? Or where in essence, every state has to pull it's economic weight?
      We know about the gold and other raw materials that are being mined privately in the north. No taxes. Hand it over to the federal government and pay taxes

    • @busariabdulgafars.4593
      @busariabdulgafars.4593 Час назад +1

      Myopic in what sense, that's the reason why some of our States and the pilotters are not doing well and creative in making wealth for the benefits of the massive, they depends solely on what they will derived from other State that are doing better. We need to wake up from our slumber, Nigeria needs to be great even if it is a little bit. Let's our Governor's be creative and productive.

      Some have provided a rebuttal of your arguments, so I wont cover that...but suffice to say that it is time for the north to take its economic futures into their hands - your fathers did it in the past, you have the tools to deliver. Its time for you (the North) to surge forward in CONFIDENCE and not rely on others. The same advice goes to the other areas. No foreign country will come save Nigeria. It is we who will do it with God's help!
