Lagos is investing in infrastructure and development to bring more investors in and also make more revenue for the state while other states are busy waiting for FG to share derivation to them so they can feed on so fat..now as they hear Tax reform all of them are busy looking for away to stop the Tax reform and inciting regions against another region trying to make it look bad...this bill must go through and every state must be productive not just consuming.. enough is enough

Rivers state and Lagos state were joint complainants in a suit against the F.G against the current derivative formula.
So when you say “other states” as if it is Lagos vs every other state you are wrong.
Also for the bill to pass you need support from other states currently south west and south south states are in support of it, as well as a few states from North central and South East.
You need their support for the bill to become law. So Don’t get too cocky.

@@ChrisugoNo doubt, Lagos may have more revenue than some states, but it is also more endowed with more creative, willing, and driven leaders going back to the days of Jakande, than most states. A lot of the state governors are sleeping at the wheels, they only belief in the status quo, i.e going back to Abuja every month to collect the monthly allocations and doing nothing much with them.

    • @Chrisugo
      @Chrisugo 2 месяца назад

@@sammyscorpion2048 Bro you're actually talking about a former British colony since 1861. Before Jakande things were already set up by the white man and was working properly. Lagos was like the capital of West Africa. Even Ghanaians and some other African countries connected their flights from lagos . Lagos has the major seaport in Nigeria. Is not like there's no sea enough for seaport in Calabar and Anambra. Taxes of goods that arrive there will most like go to the government or at least a reasonable percentage. Lagos is probably the most populated city in Africa as a whole and that also adds to the economy. Don't forget also that most oil companies drill their oil in ogoni in rivers state, Bayelsa, calabar, imo etc, and psy tax to lagos state because that is where they are headquartered. (injustice). I hope this their tax bill will address all that.
Yes lagos is doing well but they should do way more than this.

    9:26 Lagos lacks infrastructure.
The only tall buildings are hotels and banks.
The city needs affordable tall highrise buildings. In fact all Nigerian cities need tall buildings like up to 7 or 8 floors.
Lagos needs even taller residential buildings because it's an overcrowded metropolis. If they don't build that way, then the slums will expand. If decent buildings are built, the government will know how much electricity it can distribute to them and there will be no electric power shortages due to irrelevant structures.
The only good thing that the government has done so far are the metro trains. But other things like constant electricity, affordable housing infrastructure to prevent the spread of slums, free medical care, water purification plants to supply water to homes, sewage treatment and garbage treatment plants should be considered. In most European countries, there are no landfills. Garbage is recycled. Everything is recycled at plants and sent to factories to be used.

Completing it is the real deal
Tinubu and Mobereola in 2002/2003 started the planning and construction
Fashola and Hamzat began construction around 2009
It was only completed to a reasonable stage in 2023 by China and Sanwo-Olu
Wike abandoned Amaechi's own in Port-Harcourt
Ambode also neglected what Fashola started in 2009
Railway is a long-term, and expensive project that would take at least 2 terms of a Governor in order to complete
