"The Accidental Waltz" is a popular song by the composer Mark Fradkin to the verses of Yevgeny Dolmatovsky, created in 1943, during the Second World War. An early version of this song was also known as "The Officer's Waltz" The night is short, the clouds are sleeping, And your unfamiliar hand is laying on my palm. After the troubles the town is sleeping I heard the melody of Waltz And came here for an hour.
Though I am absolutely not familiar with you And my home is far away from here, But it seems to me, that again I am at my sweet home... In this empty hall We are dancing in pair, So tell me at least a word, Doesn't matter about what.
We'll be friends, singing and circling. I completely forgot how to dance And begging you for a pardon The morning is calling to the troop again, And leaving your small town, I will pass by your doors.
Though I am absolutely not familiar with you And my home is far away from here, But it seems to me, that again I am at my sweet home... In this empty hall We are dancing in pair, So tell me at least a word, Doesn't matter about what.

This is a post-war waltz. In the text, the military man apologizes to the girl that during the war he completely forgot how to dance. A series of songs dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory over German Nazism.
It's a War theme song, guys. It's about soldier (or officer, it's not the point) going by some house in some small city. There is a war. The soldier going by and hears the sound of waltz. He comes in and see some beautiful dancing woman. They fall in love each other and start to waltz together. And here is the start of the song. They are dancing, they are happy for now. He feels himself at home with her. But tomorrow h's gonna go away, because he's a soldier defending he's country from invaders. It's he's duty. So the song is about his mixed feelings: love, happiness and sorrow. He's sad because he's probably never gonna see her again. But now they are dancing not saying a word, because any word can ruin this moment. The moment when there's no war or anything else but them
The story is like this. An officer on his way to the front. A random stop, a little free time. He hears music, goes into the room where the woman is. They are strangers and they are dancing a waltz. As if there is no war.
