  • Finally picked up a TBSS! Super happy about it. It does have the 6.0 LS2 and is AWD. This thing definitely gets up and goes for an suv. I ended up selling my old LT trailblazer to a co worker and picked this one up a few weeks later out of Chicago.

If you do, just be prepared for the transmission to not last long (known issue, they are a little small for the tbss and 400hp). I already had to rebuild mine. Rated for 600hp, street/strip shift kit, and a baby 2200-2300 stall. It was 3090$ after parts, labor, and everything. After that, its been amazing.

We both work a lot, and in our free time we have been traveling. Just got married in Alaska, and have a few trips overseas planned. Trying to travel as much as possible before we have kids. Which doesn't leave much free time to work on the truck. It took 2 years, but it is finally running and almost finished. Mainly lost motivation to film because it slows the process down tremendously. If not, I would check the rear latch or latch mechanism. Next check to make sure all the weatherstripping is not worn down. And lastly id check the door frame/cab for straightness. I agree with 11B. $6K at a dealer ship is pretty cheap! Unless its super rusty or had a bunch of accidents. But just remember, at 170k miles, alot of parts are going to start reaching their lifespan. Water pump, ball joints, shocks, body mounts, fuel pump, steering rack, ect. So its definitely going to start nickel and dimeing you alot. Cheap purchase price, but still gonna spend some money in the long run. And just fyi the transmission on the tbss are known for going out. Just had mine fully built with a baby stall. It was 3050$ after parts and labor. Just something to think about. Hopefully it all works out for you, let us know what happens 🤘

      Oh nice, sweet car. For a mid size suv, it's definitely pretty quick stock. The 4.10 gears really help it get up and go. In all aspect of things, its still pretty slow. You're not gonna beat stock mustangs or camaros with it. Simply for the power to weight ratio. But its still pretty fun to daily.
      It all depends on what you want. If you want a reliable daily, it needs to stay stock. You don't want to beat on it. If you do, you're gonna break stuff. Or if you want to race it, just be prepared to spend alot of money lol.

      @@DakotaThePawgHunter a GTO is pretty nice also. You can make your own decisions, but personally if it was me. I would buy the tbss, keep it stock. Maybe build the transmission (which is a known issue with them). Then modify the camaro.
      You can make the camaro alot faster than a tbss, and for alot cheaper. That way you have the race car camaro/toy. And you have the tbss for a daily, that you can tow the camaro around with, in case it breaks. (Built in tow hitch, and they are good at towing). You have plenty of room for passangers/kids/dogs, and has a large cargo spacer for picking stuff up or transporting things. All around a good utility vehicle.
      Don't get me wrong, gto and a camaro are a sweet combo. But having two cars isn't always the best logically, in my opinion. But at the end of the day, everyone's situations are totally different, and its your money. Decide what you want, go for it, and don't look back 🤘

    • @TheKingCoopa
      @TheKingCoopa  11 месяцев назад

      Hey, its probably your tourqe management. Its GMs bandaid for building a weak transmission. It delays the throttle input, so its not so hard on the transmission. You can remove it in the tune, and your throttle response is almost instant. I'd only remove it if you have a built trans. If you're still stock, I'd set it to like 25% or 35%. So you get a better response, but still safer for the transmission.

      @@juan1518 no. Tourqe management is in the tune/ecu. You can change it whenever you want. It is always there. It doesn't matter what modifications you have. Currently your tourqe management is at 100% on. So it delays your throttle to save the transmission.
      You can do whatever you want with it. I'm just saying from personal experience, that if you disable tourqe management to 0% with a stock transmission, it will break alot faster. Even with daily driving it.

      @TheKingCoopa  Год назад +1

      Hey, depending on the rust and condition. 14k definitely isn't a bad deal.
      I cant really answer you on the financial question. There is alot a variables. How many hours you work, how far do you drive, how much are you paying for rent/cost of living, are you good with your money. Ect. Ect. So thats all on you. My advise is to get a budget sheet offline, sit down and write down where all your money is coming and going. That will tell you if you can comfortably afford it or not.
      But for maintenance, its the LS motor, they are pretty reliable, if you take care of them. The bad thing about these, is EVERYONE beats on them. Its hard to find a clean stock one. But if you do, the transmission will eventually go out if you beat on it. And run 7 quarts of oil. So on hard accelerations the oil pickup tube doesn't run dry and burn your bearings up. My tbss is stock and still blew the transmission. It was 3200$ for everything, removal, install, labor, built trans, bigger stall, and a street/strip shift kit. So just keep that in mind.
      Hope that helps l, good luck! 🤘
