    I have watched this video about 5 times now and am using it as a guide for setting up our system. thanks for doing this video, it's one of the best!

    Love your set-up and kikki k binder too! :)
    I really appreciate you being real and transparent. So many people cover up their numbers and I'm not sure why it's such a taboo....like what's the big deal if people see what you pay for phone, etc....we ALL have bills! Great video and thanks for sharing! :)

      Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate the kind words. I understand why people choose not to share, financial information is always a personal and sometimes tricky thing. I have found that when I watch other videos, it would help me to know the numbers, so I just figured maybe some people watching my video would feel the same. Thanks again!

      +Averil Daniels Thanks for watching! It's been fun to explore and figure out what I really need. It's been a few weeks and I still enjoy opening it daily. That doesn't happen often! ☺️

    This is super helpful! Thank you for the video! I just finished Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and I'm excited to start my envelope system but love the idea of adding it to my planner! I think that we are going to print out "play" money and still use our debit cards because I'm super paranoid about losing cash or having it stolen but it'll be the same concept and I'll still be "feeling" the physical money come out of the envelopes and see my limit and spending. Just wanted to say thank you for your video!

    • @JessicaPandino
      @JessicaPandino 6 лет назад

      Oh I like that idea. I have tried to find other cash envelope methods that would still let me not use actual cash but I like the play money thing

      I used to try cash only, cards away for big events and trips too, but that didn't give me enough self-control. This has helped so much since I started using it. This is probably the first month I haven't had to transfer money from savings to checking to cover my butt! Thanks for watching!

    I just came across your video. I hope the system is still working for you. I have been using envelopes also. I tend to go back into them and then pay them back on the next paycheck. BAD HABIT! lol.

    Hi there.. I'm a newbie.... especially when you mention that I get paid once a month..so do I....I use the envelope system as well. Thanks for sharing.

  • @CoffeeBookChick

    I think this is a really unique idea, especially with being paid once a month. That definitely makes it harder to save! Have you considered going to a financial advisor as well? I never thought I could afford it but costs are included in the fees that are paid out by your employer or by a small transfer to them. You are definitely headed in the right direction with this, and start thinking about planning for retirement! Definitely go to an adviser (I go to an Edward Jones office here in Florida) I didn't start until I was about 35 and now I'm 43, but I so wish I had started it sooner.

      Thanks so much for the idea of going to a financial planner! I never did before. I've always been the "I don't want to spend money to try to save money" kind of person. I have been working a bit towards retirement. We have some automatic deductions as teachers in Texas, not to mention a few accounts I have automatic withdrawals to. I don't even mention them because it's like the money is never mine to put somewhere, it just happens. Thanks for watching!

      Haha, I don't think that's sad. I think we have found what works for us and that just makes us smart :-) We know what works and avoid chaos. Good for us!

    Hi. This. Is what I need! What size is the binder. Did a search in Amazon, one popped up A5. Pls confirm. Or share where I can get something similar pls. Thx!

    • @courtneyh160
      @courtneyh160  7 лет назад +1

      +NewbieSoaper Hey there! Thanks for watching. This is a medium Kikki K, which is a personal size. You could make an A5 work, of course, but for me that would be a bit too big. I've seen some great looking ones at Michael's. I've been tempted to get one of the ones from there that zip around and have tons of accessories. And for a better price. Kikki K is a bit out of my budget now, I just happened to have this one from when I was spending too much money on planners 🙂 Hope that helps!

    Where did you get your notes you have on the back of your cash envelopes?

    • @courtneyh160
      @courtneyh160  7 лет назад +1

      +Cindy Tyler the long sticky notes? They were from the Target dollar spot. Some of their sticky note planner accessories.

      Thanks for watching! This is a medium Kikki K dark mint binder. The style is older, but Kikki K does make some great planners. I'm thinking about going to Michael's and checking out some of the styles that they have for things that would work also. Now there are so many options!

      Daisy Davis It's a dark mint medium Kikki K. I purchased this probably about two years ago. I haven't used it in over a year. It's so pretty I couldn't bear to part with it and finally found a use! Thanks for watching!

    great idea, but don't you worry about having all that cash with you when you go shopping?

    • @courtneyh160
      @courtneyh160  7 лет назад

      +Tammy Hill For the most part I won't take all of it. If I just plan on going grocery shopping, I'll just grab the groceries envelope. It's why I like using the binder method. My grocery budget is $160 for the entire month. It doesn't worry me to have that much on me. It might be a concern for a family with a bigger budget. Most of the envelopes never leave the house. Thanks for watching!

    Advice:
    Before showing everything to YoutTubers on RUclips... I highly recommend you to cover private information that are not taken out with sticky notes; pausing at right spot, I was able to see all your cards' incomes you tried covering with your hand seconds after flipping the page to that page. I was able to read everything on your Aldi receipt that you had bought, the total amount groceries costed, and the amount that you paid them, and the change you received back. I highly recommend you tape that receipt upside down, only show back side if you want to keep it in same section. Otherwise, take the receipt completely out to keep those to informations 100% private from your RUclipsrs. Because you tried keeping them private from us all, I will nit prove to you I saw all the informations by posting them all here. Just TRUST ME!!!! I SAW ALL MONEY YOU HAVE ON ALL YOUR CARDS LIST, AND ON YOUR RECEIPT!!!! PLEASE DO BETTER IN HIDING THOSE TYPES OF PRIVATE INFORMATIONS FROM PUBLIC VIEW!!!!
    When people tries to hide things on RUclips, I like to see if people done it perfectly or if I need to inform them you do better. You need to do better in hiding your informations now on by preparing and hiding them all before starting to record live videos and posting them all on Yo\Tube, etc. I hate learning strangers got money stolen, etc all because they were not careful in literally keeping all their private informations off screen without any errors at all; 0% of errors.
    Hopefully you aren't thinking I am being rude to you. I am only being straight forward with you, and instantly warning you seconds after I tested both possibilities in seeing them myself. Looking out for RUclipsrs like you.
    Take care now.
