    I got fitted for the hl versions of these the feel was great better than the Mizuno hl irons. With out much speed they went significantly further than other irons I tried. Quite pricey but they work. Nice review.

    Great video. I would like to see what a full set of Smoke irons would look like for your swing speed. We look at they pros saying how far they hit it, it would be cool to see a review with your swing speed, AI Smoke tech, vs. a tour pro distances. There is a good feeling to hit an 8-iron 180.

    Too many are stuck thinking about clubs like its 20 years ago. These new clubs are great but you cant think of them like classic clubs. I bag 58-54-50-AW(46)and PW (42), more clubs at the bottom of my bag but I'm hitting the 5 iron 225 so I only need to carry one wood.

      PW at 42 degrees that’s crazy. Absolute powerbats. That’s like my blueprint 8 iron. Is it an ego thing having these types of irons. Your PW is like a 150-160 yard club. The turf interaction & spin numbers are sooo low as well. No good mate. A forged iron gives you feedback & can hold a green. Feel beautiful.

    The HL 7 iron span more carried higher and further than the Apex irons , other than feel why wouldn’t you play them ?

    The boomers refuse to understand that these clubs have to be strong lofted because of the MOI and all the weight low. Its called science guys

    Good explanation. Don't understand why a larger sole and chunky iron makes it high launch

    • @jamesjackson4264
      @jamesjackson4264 7 месяцев назад +1

      It doesn’t on it’s on. But the larger the club the more you can move center of gravity, etc. basically perimeter weighting. This is what is causing the launch.

    • @FRANK_DYK

      And the loft angle is 2.5 degrees different on the 7 iron.

  • @bund440
    @bund440 7 месяцев назад +4

    Doesn’t that prove the point that lofts have got to strong, if people are struggling to get the ball in the air then the lofts are to strong. 28 degrees for a 7 iron is crazy. Some manufacturers are going to a 27 degrees that’s nuts. In my book if you want to go further take an extra club, I think a 7 iron should not be under 32 degrees. There’s no use being able to hit a short iron in to a green and not being able to stop it.

    • @kooijbas
      @kooijbas 7 месяцев назад +3

      Completely agree. The GI irons are made for slower swing speed players and/or beginners. So you put more weight at the bottom to get them airborne, which is exactly what we see when you compare the 8 of the HL vs your 7. But then you undo all that help by increasing the lofts to the point that the launch conditions are only good for high swing speed players (aka reviewers). If they were really interested in making clubs that would help beginners, they would show horrible numbers when tested by people who drive the ball 300 yards. They would go way too high and spin too much. Imo that would be a good thing, since that would produce ideal launch conditions for slower swing speed players. As it is, most of these clubs are useless, since no beginner can hit an iron below 28 degrees.

    • @adrianlovett3483
      @adrianlovett3483 7 месяцев назад +2

      Disagree , I have irons with 26 degree of loft in the 7 iron . It goes 30 yards further than my old standard lofted clubs but because of the tungsten it’s high flight means it stops well . Where that helps us lower swing speed players is rather than taking a longer shafted 6 iron to go 160 yards I can take a 7 and have more control/ consistency with the shorter shaft.
      The pros could use my irons and take a 9 iron to go 170 which if it’s high enough is easier to dial in than a 7 iron .

      @kooijbas 7 месяцев назад

      @@adrianlovett3483 I get what you're saying, my lowest lofted iron is a 6, in 26 degrees. But it has taken me a while before I could hit that. Anything below that I hit a hybrid. Plus you would need 1 or 2 gap wedges to fill the gap at the top end, or else you'd be stuck with a 42 (?) degree pitching wedge and a 56 degree sand wedge.

    • @adrianlovett3483
      @adrianlovett3483 7 месяцев назад

      @@kooijbas Yup my PW is 37 D . I don't often find I am hitting at a distance between my PW and GW but I can hit a 3/4 PW and it stops because of the height it gets. I will take that for hitting shorter shafted irons into greens.

    That data seems a bit skewed. An equal loft hollow body iron had a significantly lower efficiency than a forged metal blade. No. That will not happen. You have bad data.

    • @ryanrastallgolf1295
      @ryanrastallgolf1295 6 месяцев назад

      Not bad data at all! It’s exactly what I would expect when significant weight is added lower in the club. Higher launch, more spin which I think is great! Most golfers go for strong lofts to hit it further but can’t stop it on a green which is just silly! You also have to appreciate that I’m going to strike it out in f the middle most of the time. It’s the off centre hits that would show the biggest difference in performance
